Finally got around to playing this. Dropped it during the second "galaxy" or whatever it's called. It's just way too easy and boring. Reminds me a lot of that Sackboy game that came out when the PS5 launch. I could see it being great for kids, but that's about it.
- They went overboard with the DualSense vibration and trigger features. I already find them to be mostly mediocre, but here they become so overwhelming that I had to go into the system menu and turn them off.
- Image quality isn't very good. I played on a 1440p monitor and it had an overhaul soft/blurry appearance. I don't know if it's the anti-aliasing they're using or what but if you told me the game was actually rendering below 1440p I'd believe you. Depth of field was also overwhelming at times. I wanted to turn it off the whole time I was playing.
- The whole Astro Bot aesthetic on everything just doesn't look good, in my opinion. It's flat and uninspiring.
- Move set is very limited, so there's no real depth or reason to try and explore what the main character is capable of.
- Levels are extremely linear. No incentive to explore or try new things
- While you're given a backpack in each level that adds to your abilities, it's designed to work in very specific areas for very specific obstacles. It's not like the suits in a Mario game where you're encouraged to find new ways to take advantage of your moves when you have it on.
Damn.....opinions, I guess. The game was fantastic for me. Guess this falls into the "not every game is for everyone" category. Oh well
