Most videogames are tedious nonsense. Boring, cliche ridden narratives. Unoriginal art design. Plodding mechanics. Design by committee, with MBAs being more important than genuine talent.
It’s only a few studios, almost all exclusively Japanese, that harbour a sincere love of gaming, focusing on moment to moment joy. Nintendo EPD, these fellas and a few others.

If Rescue mission was a VR tech demo then I guess rumours Are true. VR literally has no games.
It's best seller is an experience, the gamer critical darlings are both tech demos, and the only attempts at 'real games' are the 3 watered down flat horror games.
Not that I entirely disagree - but if this is classed as AA you may as well say entire platformer genre is. Including all the Nintendo platformers released in last 5 years.

Well, I consider practically all VR games glorified tech-demoes, give or take a few.
So that's not exclusive to Rescue Mission.
That wasn't even a jab at Astro Bot, but this doesn't look like a AAA title to me.
Then again, it also scored higher than I expected, so there's that.

That was Astro's Playroom. You don't create a "tech demo" to demonstrate the features of a controller 4 years after launch. Everyone is well aware. This is a full-fledged game.

When i played Astro's Playroom i was always smiling. Felt like life was simpler ike back when i was plying Crash Bandicoot. It's tough to explain.
