So I've been watching Lirik play the game on Twitch from the beginning. He's like 4 hours + 30 mins in now.
So far, it's been a quality 'theme park/rollercoaster ride' FPS, in the vein of the BioShock series, with very impressive & unique visuals and some unexpected & intense events. Everything looks amazing and creatively bizarre, yet everything just fits perfectly together in this world. He has just transitioned to an open world segment, which I haven't seen enough of to judge.
Combat looks decent enough, with impactful melee. I don't think the 'bullet sponge' enemy complaints are reasonable, as the enemies keep you busy and have a range of moves/attacks. They will also gradually become more tricky. It's more like the game is stimulating you to combine different or new attacks/abilities on them.
Performance seems fine on his PC, usually ranging between 275-300 FPS, sometimes dropping to 200's.
The soundtrack is damn good, but sometimes the timing feels off, like this very dramatic 'end of the world' tune should've ended when the protagonist entered an area without threats.
I honestly can't see why some ppl/reviewers are so negative about the game as well as to cherry-pick content to be offended about (yes, some of the dialogue/humor is very juvenile and maybe risky in the current overreaction zeitgeist, but hardly worse than some other games, and definitely not something to get worked over about imo) other than simple anti-Russian sentiment.
Also it's clear the comments saying that 'everything in the trailers was fake, game is actually mess' are bullshit.
There hasn't been a quality FPS like this for fans of the subgenre and style in years. If anything, the game should be celebrated.
