GymWolf GymWolf If you remember, the final episode of FMA Brotherhood released less than a month after the manga ended. It wouldn't be a stretch to call that the most highly acclaimed anime series.

While I love finally seeing this stuff in motion. It makes me wonder what the pacing is going to be like once they resolve this segment. Kinda like how they handled the Wall Maria arc.

I'm pretty sure it's officially announced that there will be a 2nd cour in Fall this year to end the show? I don't think I'm just making this up...

Eighth Episode (67) - Assassin's Bullet
  • Things are not as they seem - the episode
  • Eren has more energy than the average shifter, but not a ridiculous amount more. Reiner safe again. Classic Reiner.
  • Seems like Falco is set up as the bridge between Eldians, but he has his work cut out for him. Especially after this beatdown.
  • Was wrong about my assumption on Armin being the one with the fake beard. It's a new character, Yelena, who happens to be part of Zeke's team. She must have had a hand in that initial scout ship failure. Maybe she's the one who made contact with Eren on behalf of Zeke?
  • So Zeke... I knew there was more to him. Especially after the whole "not in this room" moment earlier on. It might seem strange that he's killed so many, but when you think about the Owl, there is precedent for being that good of an actor. Sort of like Reiner's reverse. In fact, I wouldn't put it past him if he tried to help the scout team in little ways here and there. Like leaving the coffee for the scouts to discover back in season 3 as a hint. Could be wrong on that, but seems a possibility. Also worth noting that this alliance seems more than a little uneasy. Levi would clearly love to tear Zeke apart, and I don't think we fully know what Zeke is up to yet.
  • Eren forced this entire operation and is now in hot water for it. Potatoe girl dead :(

So I watched the show over quarantine and love it, I started watching this season as it came out last week. This episode man. Oof. Does this thread do manga spoilers?

Absolutely not.

It's in the OP.

Perfect! I accidentally spoiled myself on Reddit on earlier stuff and I’d like to avoid that, lol I probably shoulda read the OP first but wanted to see what people thought of this episode, my bad

I'm sad now

Soo is everyone who was big on Gabi still there, orr...

I get the she's still a kid thing, but Falco fully grasped the cycle of violence already, Gabi was told the same thing but didn't want to process it, now Sasha's dead. She essentially just said "fake news" and carried on.

Sad as it is, THIS is still proving to be the definitive way to subvert expectations, not "I hear bells so I'm going on a genocide". It's earning every bit. I did get spoiled by some psychopaths' DMs on reddit, but still sad.

I just hope it can still end with some happiness and not completely bleary.

Also while the show itself is still amazing, I hope season 4 part 2 or however it concludes knocks it out of the park as much as season 3 part 2, there's still nothing remotely animation wise that compares.

Just caught up on everything. Best episode so far imo is the one of two characters talking in a basement lol. And I'm not even memeing, it's great.

Animation's not quite up to what we saw from Wit imo. There was one particularly rough transition from a bad CG model of Jean to a handdrawn version of him between cuts. Most of it is pretty good though. I was afraid of a big drop in art and animation but the art's spot on and the animation's good on the whole.

A little pissed at the show taking a piss out of Eren's victory by not allowing him to eat Jaw. Not the act itself but the way it's framed - "Let's have kids in the background yell at Reiner to stop lounging around, Reiner get up and then interrupt Eren as he's about to finish the job, and, naturally, rather than recognize the urgency of the situation and immediately chow down as soon as he hears a titan activation, have Eren pause and casually look back to see what's going on." It's a cheap copout I've seen too many times for it not to kill my excitement. ... Using Jaw to break the titan cocoon was pretty cool though, so... I won't hold it too hard against the show?

Does Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle spoil anything for this season? I am thinking of giving it a go before starting on this one.

Ninth Episode (68) - Brave Volunteers
  • Looks like I was right. Yelena made first contact with Eren and co. along with Onyakopon and others in Zeke's volunteer group
  • They're foreigners from conquered countries recruited by Marley. Looking for a way to pay them back.
  • Yelena sees Zeke the demon in a rather divine light... Interesting
  • Information exchange, cuisine exchange, communication, co-operation, expanding horizons
  • A proposal from Zeke to use the Founding Titan and Royal Blood in unison
  • It's nice that the previous episode isn't the last we see of Sasha. We get more of her goofy gluttonous self.
  • For now it seems like the plan is to threaten the world with the Rumbling, not necessarily execute the Rumbling.
  • They now have internment camps on Paradis for the Marleyan scouts
  • Armin believes it's best to convince the Marleyans and the rest of the world that Eldians aren't that scary, but they need time to do that. Eren says this plan with Zeke will fortify their position and buy them more time.
  • Marleyans on Paradis being treated as second class at best on Paradis for now.
  • Zeke gets a nice forest themed hotel room
  • Armin meditating on the past with Annie
  • Erwin's (biggest badass in all of fiction) words of determination have stuck with Eren and Mikasa. Fuck Yeah!

I stopped at chapter 100 with the manga, can they cover all the manga with 2 seasons?!

The manga will likely end in April on chapter 139 (or 140 if they make it a double chapter)

We're in 137 now and things seem to be getting a bit rushed... I'd say it's possible that the anime cover everything.

Is the manga or anime better if we're talking about season 2?
Both are great, iirc there's a flashback in season 2 that's moved earlier than it initially occured in the manga, it fits better imo. Gotta give it to the anime for the music, the voice acting and the animation but the manga is always great to check out. The biggest weakness of season 2 is the 3D model of the Colossal Titan, though admittedly he shows up only for a short amount of time.

Tenth Episode (69) - A Sound Argument

  • Referencing Eren's last time in a cell, but more serious this go around
  • Hange saying she's never talked to herself in the mirror. Press X to doubt on that.
  • LOL at her trying to make fun of Eren trying to look cool.
  • Historia's life at risk? Huh?
  • Wow. Looks like they kept Eren away from the Scout crew that's been on the Island.
  • Kiyomi Azumabito is the first foreign dignitary to arrive, representing the nation of Hizuru as a friend to Paradis.
  • Mikasa is a descendant of a Shogun's son who came with Fritz to Paradis as a sign of friendship. After losing the war to the Titans of Marley, Hizuru had no standing to gather any of their people from Paradis. They see Mikasa as their hope. Seems like she's the Historia for Hizuru. Ah, Historia acknowledges this fact.
  • LOL Paradis military don't even understand what a country is!
  • Zeke set up a meeting with Kiyomi in a torn-down dump of a place. Handed her the 3DM gear he found on Paradis. It apparently requires Iceburst Stone to operate, unique to Paradis.
  • Yikes... Looks like the Azumabitos are also looking to make bank in exchange for the co-operation. With the use of Paradis' natural resources.
  • Ok, so they're gonna try to activate a portion of the walls as a threat that the Rumbling is a real danger to the world if they step to Paradis.
  • Hizuru is to help Paradis' military update to modern tech and become a formidable power in the world.
  • To make sure they still have access to the Rumbling in the future, Zeke means to give his Beast Titan to someone of the royal blood (Historia presumably) and says that person should have as many children as possible.
  • Probably what Hange meant about Historia earlier. Essentially forcing her to only live another 13 years.
  • Historia accepts without hesitation.
  • Eren is angered by Zeke's ultimate proposal. Insists they must explore all other options. Somewhere down the line he changed his mind.
  • Fucking hell, Eren threatens Hange. Not co-operating with her questioning. Tells her he could use the Warhammer powers to get out of any situation. Flexes those Titan sparks.
  • Preggo Historia -_- (Being Reiner truly is suffering)
  • She can't eat Zeke cause she's preggo. Her semen donor's identity seems... dubious.
  • Nicollo helping a fellow Marley poison a military official, but is he doing so based on his own judgment?
  • Heh, Eren volunteered Survey Corps group to help build the railroad.
  • Levi is vertically jelly.
  • Hizuru being assholes and not willing to deal with Paradis unless they have a monopoly on the resources. Closes off a ton of options for them.
  • Looks like infiltrating Marley was still an official Survey Corps operation planned by Hange.
  • Mikasa wants to eat Eren  Kinky
  • Everyone wants to eat Eren.
  • LMAO Sasha and Connie
  • Aw, the survey corps all have fluffy feelings for each other, until...2 years later.
  • Connie having a hard time coming to terms with Eren's new self, everyone else too. Even Armin is coming up with a contingency plan.... Sad.

That's...a lot of info in one ep. Seems the biggest missing piece is whatever convo Eren had with Zeke. My guess is Zeke put on quite a performance.

Really enjoyed that scene between Sasha and Connie, and how Eren's group felt so close together in the flashback vs. them questioning Eren in present time. Those personal moments give a lot of character to the story, while potentially setting up for a tragic resolution.

I felt some of the scenes moved too fast, though. They were clearly trying to shoehorn a lot of story in a single episode.

Eleventh Episode (70) - Deceiver
  • I really don't understand anyone that shows love for Gabi. I guess you can always excuse her brutality away with her upbringing, but it doesn't make her more loveable
  • Even here, Gabi refuses to take of the armband. She's one of the good demons, you see.
  • Falco rightly sees her as being out of her mind.
  • Sasha's adoptive sister invites them over to eat. Falco is wise in telling Gabi to just shut the fuck up.
  • Lol, so much programming has gone into Gabi, she can't even control her freakouts. This is gonna be tough.
  • Blouse family looking mighty suspiciously at crazy Gabs.
  • Hizuru has come by to watch from above with an iceburst stone powered flying ship.
  • The residents of Shiganshina have been evicted by military police and are questioning Hange on this decision, along with Eren's confinement.
  • Eren loyalists being punished for leaking info on his imprisonment.
  • Further suspicion falls on Yelena
  • image.png
    image.png
  • image.png
  • Man, the Gabi shitheel train does not stop, it only gains speed! IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR BEING AN ORPHAN YOU FUCKING SINNER REEEEEEEEeeee (obviously from Marley). Fuck, she knows I'm from Marley, REEEEEEEEEEeeeeee.
  • Gabi doesn't deserve such kind treatment... -_- Though I guess this is realistic when someone has so fully bought the propaganda they've been fed.
  • 6 months to gather an alliance or immediate response to Paradis?

1) I think Sasha's parents, and we saw more of Mr Blouse, are the best humans we've seen in this entire series
2) Sorry Gabi Squad, she's still the fucking worst the more and more I see of her. I get the propaganda upbringing thing, but the same happened to Falco, he seems to have enough neurons to cross to realize the prison guard she killed(maybe?) was concerned for them, that the girl she almost pitchforked was trying to help them.
3) Was it me or did the animation also take a step up this episode? I hoped they would save more time for the later episodes, looks like it

And it all circling back to Sasha❤️

I just came here to see what some people think of the episode since I already read it all. I just love this manga/anime SO MUCH!

I like what they're doing here. No manga spoilers please, but I'm still holding out for Eren to be in some sort of "hypersane" situation where he's actually acting rationally within what he knows through the memories or something, as much as the show seems to be trying to tell us he's gone bonkers now.

I think I am starting to see why certain people online are vehemently against this show. The message that good people who are just trying to live their lives aren't responsible for the sins of their fathers doesn't sit well with a certain segment of the population.

I WAS thinking "that's a pretty good takedown of original sin right there" during the last episode!

Bruh this arc with basically no action has been insanely compelling and is flying by! It’s like 25 mins is straight plot and never feels slow. How much of the manga does each episode cover?

I don't read the manga, but judging by the number of chapters, I think somewhere between 1 to 2 chapters per episode.

Twelfth Episode (71) - Guides
  • Protests against Eren's imprisonment grow stronger
  • Yelena admits she met with Eren, but mostly because she sees him as a hero who she had to see.
  • Armin and Mikasa suspect the military has given up on Eren and might try to replace him.
  • Premier Zachary got super blown up. Don't know how to feel about it. He was Erwin's greatest ally in turning things around within the walls, but there's a split now between Eren loyalists and the military.
  • Chad Eren escapes his cell. Mikasa is not feeling very good about things right now.
  • Looks like Floch, Louis, and other Survey Corps recruits (over 100 people) have been following Eren's orders as they've escaped themselves and are meeting up with him. They bombed Zachary and have more men in the military.
  • So the military has dubbed the loyalists as Jaegerists. Confirmed that they indeed were going to transfer the founding titan to someone else, which triggered the bombing and escape.
  • Suspicion falls on Hange's Survey Corps as most of the Jaegerists are from them.
  • Commander Pixis suggests that a path of least bloodshed should be taken. The response taken by the Jaegerists is due to the decisions the military made. For now, security over Zeke and Historia should be tightened, and negotiations should be had with Eren.
  • Despite its money-minded ways, Mikasa is told that the Azumabito considers her protection of great importance.
  • Oh fucc... Pieck's already here.

-Uhh what I had just thought was a decent gesture of goodwill, allowing Marleyans to work, is a lot more worrying now knowing that Yelena had asked for them to be placed in odd positions, and more resturaunts than just Niccolo. Controlling the restaurants, Monke's power to transform Eldians into Titans, anything there??

I thought from the start that acceptance of Zeke having flipped was way too early, this was the kid who turned in his parents, and took way too much pleasure at killing Paradis people four years ago. If he's up to something, and it sure seems like it, I hope Levi gets his promised revenge.

I don't like anime but I gave this a try because my friend was so into it and I've been really enjoying it, it's not quite as OTT Japanese as some others I've tried. I'm looking forward to finishing it off once it has been fully dubbed. It's just a very cool story and the action is great. It has actually made me want to try other anime.

Ok so I have preferred dub for AoT, its just really well done.

Did anybody noticed the dumb dub of Episode 8. Really ruined one of my fav anime for me. Damn covid suck.
Apparantely they did all the voice work from home and it shows.

Didn't notice anything like that for the sub, seems good as ever. I just feel like the Japanese VAs in their native source material just give it their all, the English ones are kinda like "I have to act a little anime-ey for this", plus shifting dialogue for animation not made for it makes for some strange dialogue choices.

Confirmed now, Sasha's dad is the best damn human this show has ever shown :messenger_loudly_crying:

It's still the Paradis side putting control rods in to slow and stop the cycle of hate...I'm still no Gabi fan, but their actions in this episode are likely to sow the seeds that make her see past the hate. Because of the scouts, and Sasha's dad. Still no equivalence between Marley and Paradis morally.

EREH WHAT ARE YOU DOING

Thirteenth Episode (72) - Children of the Forest
  • Damn, Zeke had some more back up with him back when he turned Conny's village into titans.
  • Looks like there's something in the Wine meant for high-ranking officers.
  • Lol at Falco with his "I GOT THE SHITS" scheme. Classic.
  • image.png
  • Poor Falco taking that hit :( Maybe that's a hint that he really is the next armor titan?
  • Chad Niccolo though. Not holding back on Gabi.
  • I love how unclean that resolution was. Nicollo wanting her dead, to Sasha's father saving Gabi and Falco, to Kaya trying to kill her anyway. Really well done.
  • Oh fucc. Zeke's spinal fluid in the wine (Niccolo's educated guess). Essentially all the high-ranking officers are his hostages this way.
  • Levi learns of the Jaegerists, but also that Pixis still plans to have Eren eaten. He wonders what was the point of losing all those people on his missions to save Eren's life all those times. He's severely disappointed.
  • The wine was served on Yelena's orders.
  • HAHAHA. I love Isayama. Fucking hell! Wild Eren appears casually. Again, with a cut hand, holding Armin and Mikasa hostage.
  • Floch and the gang are here. Looks like they won't be negotiating with Pixis. Eren sees his words as the bluff that they are.
  • Lol, Floch is so menacing now. I kinda like it. Jaegerists knew about the spinal fluid wine.
  • Eren wants to talk. Gabi about to shit a brick.

Great Ep.

This one's a a few screws short of a hardware store isn't she lol. She had JUST heard about Nicolo being in love with an Eldian who died, about them having just buried her and Nicolo making his offer at her grave, and Falco grasping the situation immediately and telling her over and over again to shut up while she just kept talking about how she killed Sasha.

How many L's does the lad have to eat for her lol

Man, I really hope they adapt the ending of the manga to anime or animation movie... shit went crazy in this month's chapter, last chapter to come next month.

Good lord, I hate Gabi so much -- she manages to get under my skin every time she opens her fucking mouth. Even on the first episodes of this season where she still had her friends around and was a somewhat normal person, I already knew I wasn't going to like her. Even worse, I appreciate the parallels she has with Eren's character and all that, but even then, I still can't wait for her to fuck off (I really wish she was killed already, but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen anyway).
