August Wrasslin' |OT| Make a.. make a good...uh...a good wrestling thread

Wonder if Roode will get a gimmick to go along with his music.

It's unfortunate, great theme wasted on a guy who doesn't match with it at all.

I hope he gets Eric Young'd posthaste so they can give it to someone that can work it.

Man, imagine if D. Brine had this theme instead of Valkyries.

Why are Roode and Joe stuck in NXT?

You want experienced guys working with the new kids but you dont want YOUR experienced guys working with the new kids because those guys would cost way too much to it. Cheaper to bring in TNA / Indie darlings to do it.

Hopefully Joe gets moved up between now and Rumble and Roode takes that spot in NXT.

This has been absolutely hysterical to watch play out. I have no idea why people get so invested in things to the point of complete disdain and disgust. I understand personalities are the new thing for gaming and reviews, but holy christ that thread is acting like GB stole their money for the last two years.

Yeah as a GB fan reading that thread from the outside.....it does not come off well. Dan's just having a bit of fun, rather than a rather dry article or video on "I'm moving".

Not some betrayal or messaging that DAMAGES THE BRAND as I have seen thrown around.

I am the birthday.

Usually people wish you the happy birthday, not the other way around. You aren't very good at this.

They're both nearly 40 and can talk and work with the the best of them in the main roster. What are they waiting for?

They have Axel, Slater, etc. who can be the helping hand in teaching and making new guys look good. But the problem there is both of those two have been booked as goofball losers and aren't ready-made in a sense they're already well known and popular coming in from TNA. To my viewpoint it's just a waste of a talent. something something five plus hours of TV each week

I would like Reigns superman punch if he didn't overuse it. The worst part is the stupid arm cock beforehand, but I guess he's stuck with it. I do believe that he is improving in the ring. His power moves are looking great and he's cut out that sarcastic demeanor and is working the strong silent thing.

I've enjoyed the past two weeks of Raw and Smackdown so I believe I'm going to tune in regularly again despite my brand extension reservations. One of my major complaints prior to was that certain superstars weren't receiving as much air time as they needed such as the women's division. Two separate rosters gives many wrestlers opportunities that they otherwise wouldn't have received. I'm still not looking forward to the addition of more championships because it devalues the existing ones in my opinion.

I'm considering a subscription to the WWE Network again, and I was wondering if the cruiserweight series is worth it?

Gargano vs Ciampa was brutal as fuck, holy shit. I feel they should have had it a bit deeper in the tournament to maybe raise the stakes but yeah, what a match. Gallagher is so much fun, it was pretty weird to hear them talking about Wigan though ha.

Can't wait for Ibushi vs Alexander!

Meltzer's saying Wyatt is out with a sprained ankle. He did hurt his foot during the match against to him Ziggler and WWE wanted him to stop but he powered on through it. Props to him, I hope it isn't serious and he's only out for a couple of weeks.

Absolutely. It's been a revelation. Starkly different production. Great commentary. Takes the tournament format seriously. And the wrestling doesn't suck either.

Looks like they'll have to replace the upper card spooky man spot with Kane, what a shame.

Damn, I knew that frustration wasn't for nothing. Hope for a quick recovery.

Deep and thought provoking insight, Hasney. I can see why his commentary may be for you.

He has one note and one inflection in his voice. This is easily observed between minutes 46:10 - 47:22

"Those knees and elbows ohmygosh!" is hardly passable commentary.

Ciampa climbs the top rope with Gambano on his back. DBRY genius commentary: "IS HE CLIMBING THE ROPE WITH GAMBANO ON HIS BACK?!"

You're nuts. D-Bry's passion and familiarity with the various wrestlers, and explaining the strategy/context between the moves has been incredible.

I've loved his commentary on the CWC, and his pairing with Ranallo is absolutely A++++

Thanks for the response guys, I'm looking forward to the cruiserweights and catching up on NXT.

On Wyatt: I wonder if it would help if he changed his boots? The ones he is currently using don't seem like they give much support in regard to rolling your ankle.

You have a link to that move?

Do you have a think about cheap pin moves in general or just a roll up?

How did you feel about Bret's counter to Austin on Survivor Series 96? Or Owen v Bret WM 10

You're asking too much i'm sorry i'm not a wrestling encyclopedia :p But i mean roll up. I just mean i never accept them as legit. Not if the guy taking the pin isn't at least really tired cause he took a lot of offense. The Ciampa match doesn't work for me cause Ciampa didn't even took something pretty stiff at some point, or faked an injury or something. He was just fully in control with all gauges at max. I like it better when for example Lesnar do a match where he destroys the other guy BUT at some point there is an ugly counter, just one, that lesnar sells throught the entire match after that. It's then possible that he loses over some lack of focus.

To put it differently, for me, a contemporary wrestler can't be pinned only by the strength of any pin, cause you just know.. he can kick out.. He has to be hit before so i can buy it. Even a quick dirty hit, that can make him confused enough.

Here is the type of Bourne/Sydal pin i was talking about. I know he's so light and you can still kick out of it, BUT the moves is so pretty and complex in its choregraphy that you're like, "i'm ok with it"

Ciampa/Gargano was the highlight of the CWC so far, just all around great wrestling. I realize it probably has a lot to do with them knowing each other and working together -- which I think is a big reason some of the matches in the first round have been kind of bad.

I'm indifferent on DBry announcing. At times he does really well but other times it feels like really bad and forced homerism.

tell her you feel a little sick, but book another date right away

makes you seem somewhat human and caring + she sees that you really want to see her. Then roll her up

That's acceptable I guess everyone has their own preference on all of these things.

The Sydal pin, I remember now, he's so fucking light, I could kick out of that with my weak ass leg!
No. D-Bry's commentary is atrocious and that is an understatement. If he is a regular during this tourney, I'm out. I almost tossed my remote at the TV at "DID YOU...SEEEEEE THAT CHOP TO THE FAAAACE!?"
Oh lol! I mute my commentary and just read the captions.
