My 8800GT from 2007 finally died and I'll be picking up a 460 later this week to get me by until a proper upgrade. Will chuck it in tandem with a better nVidia card and use the 460 as the PhysX card.jambo said:Buying a new video card on Friday, but not many benchmarks cover 2560x1600 so I can't decided between a GTX 570 or a HD6970...
Pretty sure the 6970 has the edge at 2560x1600. The HardOCP review covers that res but it's an extremely annoying review because it doesn't put the 570 and the 6970 on the same graph, so you never get a direct comparison because they always use different settings to get "highest playable settings", nevermind that "playable" is always 30fps and never 60fps. Then in his conclusion he goes on to say that the 6970 beats the 570 easily, even though his own numbers don't show that and he never bothers to directly compare them. Man that review gave me the shits.jambo said:Buying a new video card on Friday, but not many benchmarks cover 2560x1600 so I can't decided between a GTX 570 or a HD6970...

Toto make the best toilets. You'll see them everywhere.VOOK said:I should be alright in the cold, gotta be better than the heat here.
Just all around Tokyo, Chibi and all the nerdy spots. Gonna bullet train it to the snow one day.
I'll try that app!
Review of Japanese toilets incoming?
I go to Japan almost yearly but I still have yet to go to a maid cafe. Sure I go to Akihabara to check out games, manga and other nonsense but I just can't muster up the courage to enter those cafes.viciouskillersquirrel said:Make sure you go to a maid cafe in Akihabara. I recommend the @Home Cafe. It'll creep you out, blow your mind and generally make you feel just a little bit dirty - so awesome.
They're not sleazy, I promise. The one my fiance and I went to looked like the inside of a day care centre. True, it was mostly lonely Tokyoite guys, but there was a table full of girls and a family there with a little kid as well.commanderdeek said:I go to Japan almost yearly but I still have yet to go to a maid cafe. Yeah it's kinda sad since it wasn't always like that (as all the elite nerds will tell you). What sucks is that the Akiba equivalent in Osaka is becoming the same as well.HolyCheck said:The thing that shocked me about aki, was how much porn there is.
Go into a store, first floor washers and dryers, second floor vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances, third floor wall to wall porn.
Yeah, I've always known that it's done tastefully and all for "fun" but still...viciouskillersquirrel said:They're not sleazy, I promise. Shaneus said:Fucking hell I'm beginning to regret going Crossfire with my PC. Dual 5850s can run Crysis amazingly but bog down when running NFSHP and even crash when trying to run Dead Rising 2 (two games that hardly punish ANY system). Fucking over it.
Yeah, but they at least have a decent webstore, and I saw 2 HMV's in one street in lots of places over there.Bernbaum said:Interesting to see the online retail issue isn't endemic to Australia-
Gamasutra's report on HMV shutting down a bunch of stores across the UK.
Still one extra step I was hoping to avoid! I have an app to load different GPU profiles/settings (Radeonpro) but still tinkering with it so that CFX will disable properly.evlcookie said:You disabled it right for NFS and DR2? Crossfire isn't worth it due to driver issues / compatibility most of the time anyway. If you can work around it and just disable it when needed you should be fine.
Interesting. Pity they don't seem to have the collector's edition.r1chard said:LittleBigPlanet 2 ordered from dvd.co.uk for £35.55, or around $55 ... about half what it'll be on the shelves in stores here. Yeah, fix that with the frickin GST, productivity commission!

I know you can't see it, but maybe you can feel it.
London is a bit dumb like that. You can't walk 10 meters without stepping past a Pret a Manger, an Eat or a Caffe Nero. Also, no fucking bins anywhere.Dead Man said:Yeah, but they at least have a decent webstore, and I saw 2 HMV's in one street in lots of places over there.

While there may be some Irish scallywags on my fathers side of the family, I placed no bombs! Certainly none in London!HolyCheck said:Stop putting bombs in them then.

I NEED that Sackboy plushie and I'm not sure I can wait for international shipping on the game. I'm prepared to pay EB's $108 price for the game. Will probably pre-order tomorrow and hope that somebody puts up a better price by the release date so I can get EB to price match.
The iPad 2 is rumoured to be released this month.

"Every game I'm throwing at the new GTX 570 is running perfectly.
I tried Mafia 2, Borderlands, BFBC2 and STALKER: CoP and they all ran great maxed out.
The cars in Mafia 2 look amazing, BFBC2 is incredibly smooth and pretty, STALKER blew me away when I was using my flashlight and I can now run Borderlands with shadows and everything else turned on.
The jump from 4870x2 (CF disabled so 4850) to GTX 570 is huge. Downloading Crysis on Steam atm so I can really work the new card!"
