Does anyone know how "safe" paypal is for private sales?

I'm selling my 980ti and a potential buyer has requested to use paypal, for small amount I usually don't worry to much, but I'm a bit worried about this for some reason, most likely because of reading horror stories on Gaf.
Would a bank transfer be a better option?

I use it for private sales, but I only sell to people I know through RL or GAF so Idk.

I've sold lots and always prefer paypal. Haven't had any issues.
But I do find Paypal seem to protect buyers more than sellers, that's just the impression I get.

My job agency put me into a Work for the Dole position, telling me it will be three days of 9am-5pm a week, so I could continue volunteering where I have been elsewhere. I turned up at the place at 9am today as I was told. They said they don't know what the job agency people are thinking but the hours people can work there are strictly 5 hours a day, 10am to 3pm. So I need to work each weekday to meet the hour requirement, right in the middle of the day. This means I can't volunteer where I have helped out for the past 8 years anymore. And they have very little notice that I can't go anymore. Normally there are just two other people working in the team and so it's really screwing them over to lose one person.

I called the job agency to try to get this worked out. Maybe they will transfer me to a different place. Maybe where I was volunteering, which they successfully arranged to become an eligible place (this took months of safety checks and stuff) just late last year...but now they're saying it isn't on their lists anymore. They say they'll call me tomorrow.

chin up, Aargle. It'll work itself out one day.

NMS. I can see its a very polished game and I've enjoyed the hour or so I played tonight, But the prospect of playing this for the next few weeks isn't yet an enticing prospect. We'll see how the weekend's play goes. Its the perfect game to 2nd screen to catch up with a show on Netflix.

I still have some amount of excitement for this game, but a lot of it depends on how the pc port is, the low FOV and massive pop in are deal breakers for me at the moment. Especially with it's current price.

Wife got the PS4 copy yesterday and we played a couple of hours last night. We both just kept seeing cool shit and wanting to keep going and exploring, but then realised how late it was.

I can see this game eating up a lot of my PC time. Perfect game to play whilst listening to a new album, mix or podcast.

Also without anything as the soundtrack is awesome.

COD
Bank Transfer
Paypal Gift
Paypal

In that order. I've seen paypal still reverse transactions because the account was hacked or stolen card. Usually with paypal gift they can't do a item not received at least.

If you end up with a dick buyer then can easily reverse the transaction, saying item not described etc. and just send back an empty box. But for the most part it is probably the best you're going to find. In the end I think you just have to consider where you're selling it.

NMS is damn good. Love love love the alien language stuff.

We've got more rings than Team USA right?

Yeah but one of those is Aron Baynes who filled a bench seat with the Spurs. Bogut, Mills and Delly had their moments at their respective finals runs but the latter two were essentially pulled late in the series for different reasons to ensure a win. Mills is still my hero.

It was a great game this morning. Four of the five starters are in NBA and they knew how to bang with the Americans. Boomers had them shook.

Did I mention I drove from Houston to San Antonio to watch the Spurs beat Golden State? Spurs fans are quality humans.

In a good or bad way?

most seem to like it, others are realising its not necessarily what they'd hoped. A very large proportion of peeps here have already bought it and some have put 8 or 9 hours into it already. Then the coders start analysing the tech and then it goes downhill from there ;)

Can't wait for my birthday next week when I'm hoping to actually get NMS (for PS4). And only a few days later when F1 2016 releases! Pretty fucking good week.

Anyone here able to tell me how long it should take for a parcel to get from Canberra to Melbourne? Had a thing ship from the UK, arrive in Canberra on the 3rd of August but because I can't track locally, have NFI where it might be. It's fucking annoying :/

Had a "thing" shipped from the UK? A "thing"? How deliberately vague. Sounds like someone ordered themselves some birthday drugs to celebrate the big occasion! Given your age, I'm guessing it's a truckload of Viagra.

Because you're old.

AusPost? It's likely in someone's record player by now.

Don't say that :( I've raised a case with AusPost, so we'll see what happens. But people are reporting their service is quite shit and have had delays in getting stuff interstate, so I'm somewhat hopeful that's the case.

Still on the fence about NMS. What are the odds of it supporting 21:9?

They added 21:9 support about a week or two ago.

it's rarely an issue for me but I did feel that it was a little 'zoomed in' on PS4.

Another hour in and I got an upgrade for the exosuit, yay adding cells to a spreadsheet is fun. I'm lining up stuff on Netflix and Amazon Prime to second-screen whilst playing NMS. Halt and Catch Fire S2, That Mitchel and Webb Look, Lady Dynamite and Gotham S2.

holy fuck. I have been here 7 months and still don't have a car but i bought a bicycle
for the first time since primary school

I'm quite sure that I will be in the same situation when it comes to buying a car there(in Australia).

Depends on where you are. If you live in Melbourne or it's surrounding suburbs you most definitely won't need one. Move a bit further out and you kinda need one.

Went to the League OPL finals in Brisbane tonight and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I don't really play or follow the game but I was expecting a lot worse being australia/oceania and all. Pretty flashy, little technical issues and solid on the production, didn't seem like they were broadcasting video games at all. All it really needed was more people and a bigger venue to actually make it seem like a finals. Actually reminded me of the old GOM studios when GSL was still running.

3 years in Hong Kong and probably won't be getting a car until I have a kid or something. Place is small, public transport is legit, taxis cheap for places out of the way so there's really no need. Also, another thing here is that a lot of times yo have to pay separately for a car space when you buy an apartment and car spaces can cost like 3 times the price of your average Japanese car.......:/

The no car life is actually quite okay right up until the point where it's not.

Only time I really missed having a car was when I was moving large objects from place to place

Well, I'm traveling for a year trying to find something stable. I have no reason to underestimate that when it comes to money, getting jobs, places to stay and everything else you can imagine that comes to play.

Did a test ride of the 7 mile (10k) round trip from home to work. As I haven't ridden in a loooooong time, exactly how sore and crippled will I be over the next few days? I don't feel sore now but walking upstairs feels really hard.

Gears are weird when you've only ridden BMX before now. It's mostly flat here but even so I feel I'm pedalling a lot but not going fast.

Cycling is the most common thing you can imagine over here. So I won't ever feel sore or anything from a ride of that distance. But then again, you said you haven't done so in a looooong time. I do it everyday.

Well, my record finally turned up at work, a few days after filing a query/complaint/case to Auspost.

But I have today and tomorrow off. FFS.

Finally fill out the census, once the website worked for us last night...they sent us two forms as we have two dwellings on our property (one's a home office granny flat, no one actually lives in). So I put the codes in for the secondary residence and go to put zeroes across the board just so the thing registers no one was there but we did receive and process our end of the 2nd codes/census. NOPE, not allowed, now I've been on hold for 21 minutes and you can only call in business hours.

How very nice of them and apparently saying no one stayed at a residence is not a valid choice. Poor programming and logistical planning there.

well if you own a house why would nobody live in it nobody has ever done that before. jesus christ ozzy

You'll probably get a sore arse until your butt/bones in your pelvis until you get used to the seat.

Sounds like your peddling cadence is a little high if you don't feel like you're going anywhere with all the effort. Basic rule of thumb: high cadence taxes your cardiovascular system while low cadence taxes the muscles/joints.

It's not a separate unit, as in its own address like 2/100. It's a granny flat out back used as a home office when I want to work from home instead of travel to the city. I would have thought zero is an acceptable answer for a number of reasons e.g. a family on holiday with an empty house or an empty home office/granny flat where the primary residence accounts for the people on census night or a rental without tenants for that night etc.

I promise I'm not a lunatic :)
