The smell is pretty bad though.

I always thought these were superior to Grills.

There's a burger place in sydney that does a vegemite mayo. I have not tried it but i am intrigued. If i remember the name pf the place ill edit this post.

Talking abou burgers makes me excited to visit the Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney. Been collecting those location shirts for many years now. This will be number 36 or something.

if the toast pops and you don't get to buttering it in time, you can always just pop it in for another few seconds to get a bit of heat on it so you can butter properly.

Unless it's already been vegemited and cut into fours, wait no triangles, NO NOT LITTLE ONES UGH.

If you share idiotic chain mail bullshit to laugh at it is that the same as actually chain mailing it on? Friend just got an "asianisation of Australia" letter in her actual mailbox (lmao).

Honestly if anything Australia is Australiafying innocent Asians into bogan wankers from my experience

I remember hearing an urban legend that Vegemite was originally invented by a brewer using leftover yeast. If that's in any way true, using Vegemite to make beer is like a GAF->Internet->GAF cycle.

Not an urban legend, originally made from brewers yeast then manufacturing began in Burton on Trent in the UK due to waste yeast from the Brewery trade. Some Aussie created Vegemite as an alternative to Marmite but Aussies preferred Marmite until the late 30's when Vegemite started to gain popularity.

Anyway Aus really needs a Vegemite version of these. Would save me a fortune on P+P getting them from the UK..... No actually, a packet of crisps (chips) delivered from the UK is probably still cheaper than a packet here....

Can't get more disgusting that this Vegemite beer

Won't stop people using basic and copied passwords sadly :/
One of the thread creators on GAF said he used a unique password. I'm guessing social engineering is behind this and not shared passwords. Maybe the accounts have shared "secret questions" like mother's maiden name etc. that were leaked?

Truth. Japanese place finally opened up here but in a bogan shopping complex. They have to call Oyakodon crumbed chicken with rice :/

My office has officially now been turned into a third bedroom so I've been looking at how to still do PC type stuff without access to my PC. Surface Pro seems to be the popular option around here so I thought I'd ask some advice!

I'd need it for Photoshop, Office, some minor web dev stuff just on WordPress. Doubt I'll do any gaming on it.

Is 128GB enough? I assume it has SD/USB storage ability.

There was a Surface Pro 3 i5 128GB refurb with keyboard and stylus going for $649 recently I feel like I should've jumped on. Will an i5 be fine or would an i7 really be required?

Dead Man, she's no good for yo :p

I thought that too, then my brain reminded me of all the ways I am less than perfect and I decided to let her slide on this one thing. I'm generous like that ;)

I met a couple Australians this weekend and they introduced me to what is possibly the greatest phrase in the English language. Apparently, a common response to a wide variety of questions is “I’m not here to fuck spiders”. It means “I’m already doing that” or “Obviously, yeah”. So like, example usage:

At the bar with a friend.
Friend: do you want to get a beer?
Me: well, I’m not here to fuck spiders.

I'd really like that phrase to be real in Australia somewhere.

If you want some names of good burger places in Sydney, let me know. I have been to a stack of them and usually check new ones out every weekend, if possible.

A similar one is "does a bear shit in the woods?". I feel loke that might be used a bit more worldwide and is not quite as funny haha.

Looks like I'll have the afternoon in Sydney Saturday week, so this interests me.

What was the ramen place someone else recommended recently? I visited Ichiban Boshi recently but wouldn't mind checking out somewhere new.

The NMS meltdown on gaf has been entertaining to watch but this is by far the best thing to come out of it.

It always seemed to me that people wanted this game to be all things to all people, that it would break down barriers and usher in a new age of global peace.

It's procedurally generated content, people. Most of it is going to be samey or awful no matter what you do. Had people forgotten what roguelikes are like?

Burger places I reccomend in Sydney:

Bar Luca (also Bl burgers on oxford st is the "takeaway" store)
Burgers Anonymous (also oxford st)
Guilty (just off oxford st) - this place isnt quite as well known as say bar luca but i definitely recommend it.
Chur Burger

There are plenty more but i cant think of any off the top of my head. A few fried chicken places have opened in syd recently as well but i havent tried then out - butter, thirsty bird and juicy lucy.

Oh and if you are on oxford st theres also mr crackles - think banh mi with cripsy pork crackling and pork nachos etc. Sooo good. You might need an extra day in syd ;)

Or... it's going to be zany. Like Jurassic Park harmonica guy there. Personally, I think a title like No Man's Sky is perfectly suited to the more 'out there' things you can get via procedural generation (if you go a bit more laissez-faire with it, rather than trying to rein it in). Look at all of the bizarre shit on this planet, and then think about how much more bizarre life could be in completely alien environments.

Doesn't necessarily make for a fun game though, which is why I didn't buy it :)

that vid gets me everytime. I personally thought the game I'm playing now was pretty much what I expected to play when I first heard about the game. The only thing that I'm disappointed is the unfun inventory stuff (without which, a significant part of the game is less of a game).

NMS is pre-release hype versus release reality is a big reason I don't watch too much pre-release hype anymore and just get the games I like the look of.

I'm special. Can't you tell?

Rather amused that gaf seems to be having another meltdown over console generations and its definition in the wake of an iterative future.

The console class wars will be amazing next year, there will be fighting not only between diehard fans between companies but infighting within each console brand as well. It may look something like this for multi platform console games Scorpio>Neo>PS4>Xbone>NX? (not enough known about NX). The digital foundry analysis of each game with be very interesting. GAF may very well implode.

Feel sorry for folks having to do 6 platform comparisons though.

I am guessing to begin with it will be a review on one platform (say PS4) then some extra comments regarding technical enhancements on Neo etc. It's such an interesting time, and we are getting closer and closer to consoles just being PCs, especially if we start seeing incremental upgrades every 2-3 years. It certainly seems to be where Microsoft is headed, it will be interesting to see what Sony's model becomes. I think Nintendo have a corner of their own and will just continue doing their own thing rather than reacting to Sony/MS.

I've got a Pro 3 i5 and it's great.
For the things you've listed, I do the exact same tasks and it handles it perfectly.

It does have the option for external USB storage so 128GB is fine.

I had 128GB on my Surface Pro 2 and it did me just fine.

You can use external USB storage, and there's a MicroSD card slot you can use for extra storage too, I stuck a 64GB card in there.

I had about 20GB allocated to Windows, 20GB allocated to my Dropbox, 20GB allocated to my Google Drive, 20GB allocated for Photoshop scratch disc and lived pretty comfortably on that for two and a half years.

I think JB are doing a deal where you get a free Xbone One bundle if you buy a Surface Pro.

Not sure if you have an Xbox One already (or want one) but you could sell it on eBay which would make the whole thing cheaper.

Or give it to me.

Just saw this deal and its very tempting. My housemate has a surface pro and swears by it. Just wondering if it will be easy enough to get rid of the xbox one

as for Digital Foundry, I think we'll see the current X1 and PS4 will be treated the same way as 360/PS3 versions of cross-gen titles. Realistically, comparing PS4 with PS4 Neo or X1 with X1 Scorpio will be like "here's how it looks on PC Min Spec versus PC Maxed out, It can run Crysis."

measuring dicks = clicks

Yeah need to pay high price for it though and I already have an X1. Will just wait for that awesome refurb deal again, keyboard/stylus are sooooo damn expensive.

This high school nudes sharing scandal is fucking nuts.

Saw actual human adults on Facebook comments victim blaming for taking nudes and sharing them with people they mistakenly trusted

Dumb fucks. "It's child pornography to take a nude selfie and send it on to your partners!" Yeah you fucking derro consider that perhaps the law isn't omnipotent and contains the solution to all problems?

Mann I haven't heard anyone use "derro" in a long ass time lol! Tier one aussie slang I reckon!

Speaking of which, having spent the last 3+ years around mostly American/Non-Australian accents, hearing someone other than myself speak with an Australian accent has become super jarring. In a good way though of course. But yeah, we talk funny yo!

it is weird and I work on a small team that's a third aussies with a creative director who plays up the bogan accent by addressing our team as 'youse.'
