Move to Melbourne. The offer still stands if you want a recommendation :p

It's very, very tempting. But I don't think we can do it.

The other part of my rant is every stupid technology park in Sydney is on the north side, so all the IT companies are there. The choices are basically the CBD, North Sydney or Macquarie Park.

Build something in Penrith you jerks.

Oh man i know the sydney house price pain. "Just get a better job." Im 26 and have no where near a house deposit although i have been on lots of overseas trips. I live in a sharehouse in sydney on the weekends but work down south during the week and stay with mum.

I have two options: either bunker in with mum until i can save for a house and ditch the sydney place OR move to sydney full time and get a new job, where ill never be able to afford to buy a house unless i meet a girl that has tonnes of money.

I got a better job and it means nothing.

Where do you stand on avocado?

My house doubled in value in four years. It's just ridiculous now. There's no way I could afford to buy in my suburb today. How it's even politically controversial to remove the incentive to invest in real estate is just absurd. We're paying people to speculate in real estate. It's welfare for the rich.

Overdone rant alert: stupid property prices in Sydney are ridiculous. Somehow I've got myself into a job where I'm earning comfortably more than the average wage in NSW, and I still can't afford to buy a house 60km out of the stupid CBD. House prices in the suburb we rent in (and are also looking to buy) have increased 56% in four years. Now it's at 650k. To live 60km out of the city! And we pretty much can't move anywhere else in Sydney because it'll either get too expensive or the travel into work just becomes prohibitive.

Then we have to compete in a marketplace where every other annoying couple in their twenties is getting significant help from their parents. Neither sets of parents are in a position to help us out, which is fine and they shouldn't have to, but when you're competing in a market where it's the norm it really puts you on the back foot.

We want to move cities completely but we're just about to have our first baby so we don't want to leave family.

Screw Sydney and any old baby boomer sitting on five properties they bought for twenty bucks and now get significant tax benefits for owning.

I was going to suggest moving to Brisbane, but then you mentioned the baby. Hope you work it out, sounds like you are pretty stressed out. Video games are a good way to relieve stress and it will take your mind off it a bit hopefully.

It's crazy.

I'm currently going through an inheritance dispute and the other party is basically claiming that the 3 investment properties she already has isn't enough to retire on. Feudal lord privilege.

There is whole class of Howard Battlers that were taught to invest in property, taught to use every tax break, cut every corner and they are never ever giving up their god-given right to rule over the rest of us.

Wait , what ? This only makes sense if I assume she borrowed money for all 3 properties, otherwise the capital value of those properties alone would be more than sufficient to retire on if invested in higher liquid returns like mixed funds. If's she's leveraged to the hilt and expecting a property crash it kind of makes sense (except that she should be selling in that case).

Watched Fantastic Beasts this arvo. Enjoyed myself and consider it a positive non Potter Potterverse film and would watch more. But it did feel like a side store and so lacked a bit of spark I guess that a mainline film did. Wonder if the non core Star Wars films will be like that too.

Found the world building interesting enough, but aside from Queenie I didn't find the characters leaping off the page as I did the main story. Maybe thats because I came o this cold, whereas with Potter I'd already read through the story.

And whilst I said I enjoyed it and would watch sequels, I don't have much enthusiasm for owning/rewatching.

Don't know exactly, somewhere around 40% is mortgaged.

As expected Amazon is opening Prime streaming up worldwide so everyone to watch the Grand tour.

Makes me wonder what devices sold in Australia will be able to access it. PS4 and I assume XBone. But most of the non Fire devices don't have an Amazon Video app.

It looks like it's up now in at least for browsers, Mobile apps aren't available yet.

not apple TV or any non amazon set top box. But tablets that can share their feed witha streaming device (as in iPad airplay to Apple TV) and run it. PS4 and X1 have the app (assuming its the same store between EU and AU)

unless of course it;s not full prime streaming and just an app for GT.

anyway, its on right now for UK Primers. (will update this since I'm going to watch now, before work).

Residential in Sydney is rubbish, especialky on the western belt (Penrith through Oran Park to Ctown).

Oran Park isn't bad for prices but there's nothing there.

You could always look at buying commercial in Parra and "sleep at work"?

New pokemon is kind of disappointing so far. With all the nice changes they've made, they've also made the game a lot more... cinematic. I'm probably about an hour and a half in and the game is still taking control away from me every couple minutes to show me some more dialogue or a little scene. Just let me be on my way already dammit.

So I'm looking to grab FFXV and find out it's plagued with this stupid retailer-exclusive dlc malarkey.

JB throws you a sword and daggers, EB a sword/spear/precrusor game.

Any way of getting a complete version at this stage?

It's all worthless preorder DLC shit. Every game does it, every item is worthless. Don't play their game, just buy it where it's cheapest.

Ah, PS4 mainly. Originally played on PC at launch until I got a bunch of friends to play on PS4 with me so that's my mainstay.

Basically my girlfriend's sentiments, as a passionate Potter fan. She liked the world building but the story itself was somewhat forgettable.

Anyone want a Titanfall 2 discount code for PSN?

What kinda discount we talkin' here.

I stayed in Kyoto for two days and felt that it was a good duration. Next time I go to Japan I'll spend more time in Osaka as I didn't get to see much of it.

Two days is good for Kyoto, there's plenty to see but two days should be enough. You'll be sick of temples by the end of it though. I stayed in Osaka for a week but two days should be enough to see universal studios and do a city tour. I'd do a day trip to Hiroshima instead of a third day, assuming you have time.

Cheers guys!

I would love a Titanfall 2 discount code if anyone has a spare, I've been playing on PC but the lack of players is bumming me out and I've been thinking about double dipping!

I haven't had any major issues with games on PC. Having said that though, Attrition seems to be the go to mode, so if you don't like that then I can see how it might be lacking in players.

Hmm, just realised I have the choice between breathable joggers, or cumbersome, heavy-duty work boots to brave the UK winter. Why didn't I think of this before? Might need to buy a pair of somethings over there.

Yeah I never have any trouble getting into a game of Attrition but I can't ever seem to get into anything else unfortunately :(

Edit: sorry for double post

Starting Friday you mean?

Those prices are absurd! What is the all about?

Apparently Doom and Fallout 4 for $18 as well.

Target have been slowly getting out of the video game business for months now, since the start of the year really.
Management have been throwing shit at the wall to see if a market will stick but gamers are either very fickle (will buy cheapest anywhere and will research) or lazy/bogged (buy everything at specialist outlet, which is only EB now), no in between. Target learning that the hard way as JB once did.

Kmart pulled the band aid quick, Target tried to make something of the market but hasn't worked out. I expect most of those prices are cost price or lower.

And yeah other stuff is on special too, waiting for official documents to come out though. Other retailers might have some items on sale next weekend too ;)

Thanks for the insight. It's insane how many eb stores can be maintained with their generally absurd prices. Target has been pretty good for a while with pricing, but I can totally understand how K-mart, Target and Big W struggle in the market. They just never really managed to establish an image of being game suppliers (and an often lacking range doesn't help).

Other retailers sounds enticing. My wallet weeps.

Yeah it's still weird to me that the VAST amount of people buying games do so at EB at full price. The death of other specialist retailers has done that to a degree I guess.

I still expect Target to stock games for the near future at the least, similar to Big W they will just have a smaller range and much smaller quantities (which has been noticeable this year, they make short orders and don't restock as much as they used to).

Lucky the pound is doing so bad. Base.com are great for day one prices and usually arrive within a week, OzGameShop slightly more expensive usually but with similar timelines which is great.
