Not at the top (e.g. 'AAA') end. There's not nearly enough money in donations through Kickstarter for all but the most respected developers. Fewer than 40% off Kickstarter projects are actually fully funded, and fewer than 50% of projects that get their full finding even finish. Not to mention the average Kickstarter project fund is less than $10k.reptile if it comes off this is going to change the nature of PC game publishing forever
For low and mid tier developers (e.g. mostly indie), sure, it most definitely has the ability to change the landscape, but not at the high end, where all the money really is.
But then again, do 'real' gamers care about blockbusters? According to GAF, they're all terrible.
