AusGAF 6 - Ricki Lee is awful. Everything else about Australia is AMAZING [Free hugs]

Was inevitable since they never got along. Plus only a few more episodes to push out until that sweet, sweet syndication dollar can start rolling in! Also since it has a small yet ravenous fan base I am sure they will clean up on licensed merchandise.

I fucking love community and I'll definitely still be checking out season 4, but I will be a lot more sceptical of its faults. I guess the logic behind it is the next season is a final effort to gain mainstream success and after three seasons they knew that wasn't going to happen with Harmon. Which is balls because ratings or not the show is fantastic

Edit: Fuck yeah Sal. At least there is one other person to share the pain when all their good player continue to leave.

Kinda like a final season of Scrubs to try and reinvigorate the brand at a lower price with the added incentive of that season easily being profitable once it hits syndication.

I never like a show once it comes back or is gutted of staff. Futurama is the one example where it has turned out okay as the last season has started to bring back the magic. I have no expectations for Arrested Development.

Another issue is what is next for Harmon. None of his other shows have done well (outside of the Sarah Silverman one).

See I'm hopeful with arrested. Isn't pretty much everyone back for it? And the fact they got a season as well as a movie makes me think they have a plan. Its not just a studio grab for cash. Well I mean it is, but there is more too it than that.

This game is getting out of control. Crusaders could put 60+ on the Blues

i'm playing the secret world mmo for the 2nd beta weekend

its pretty interesting and a lot different to every other MMO. Let me give you an example of a quest

Its basically like an adventure game. The game has an in game browser where you can go to google. One of the quests has you solving puzzles so for example you go to a computer and notice a post it note that says 'concerto 1923'

or something, and then you will wonder wtf, but then you google it in game (in the real google) and discover the password is
vivaldi
. Then use that in the game. So instead of going A-B-C via a quest giver, you have to actually think and solve puzzles via real world thinking.

you then move on in the quest. Basically TONS of the quests require lateral thinking and you need to decipher tons of things by googling various clues you might find. Think like Fez where you need to write things down and think for yourslef and you are on the right track

There is no levelling system, just XP to gain new abilities. Funcom said they wanted to completley change the MMO structure and they have.

There is a lot of quests like this. You don't get ahead in TSW by Min maxing, you get ahead by having a brain and solving major puzzles. This is fez on crack.

Same thing happened with Family Guy and Futurama though, Family Guy came out of the return blocks strong but quickly turned to shit and Futurama was mediocre until they got the movies and a few episodes out of their system.

If I keep my hopes low I can't be hurt again :(

I'm just happy we're getting more Community and Arrested Development. Scrubs final season was so bad, it doesn't exist in my mind. The show ended perfectly with My Finale.

But who cares if the lead guy behind it is essentially completely out of the picture? Like I've mentioned in the OT, I'm imagining something like the fall of Seinfeld when Larry David left.

Also, how the fuck did we miss out on the news of the T2 beta? We're losing it, man.

Regardless Coopers back for the reds tonight. Its either the start of a come back or the realisation no one player can save a whole team.

I'm hoping for a come back.

Yep, but was a funny read.

The same contract also gives me the same salary and title if I spend all day masturbating and playing Prototype 2. And before you ask yourself what you would do in my situation: buy Prototype 2. It’s fucking great.

The thing is Shane, most people really don't care who's making their entertainment, just whether or not it entertains them.

For many people, Harmon's, as well as David's departure back in the day, will go unnoticed.

Interestingly, most british shows people DO care.

Community seemed to have the closest to that of any American show that i've watched.

Shows chop and change runners all the time. The Simpsons went through many during their golden years, they even thought the whole thing was going to fall apart around Season 5, Conan has said the reason he got to put zany shit in his scripts was because they thought someone would come through the door at any minute and tell them everything had fallen apart too far to keep holding on!

Community will not be the same without a doubt. The last season will feel different, especially if more of the crew leave. Although there have been people saying that Harmon wasn't great outside of the writing and directing aspect so who knows what could happen. Don't hold your breath.

Also the last 2 seasons of Seinfeld still had TONS of great episodes! How can you ignore Kramer as Merv Griffin or George trying to preserve his Frogger high score or Top of the Muffin to You! and The Peterman Reality Tour which all culminated in Elaine hiring "the Cleaner"! Come on! It wasn't as perfect across the board but it was damn well a thousand times better than the other shit on TV at the time and still shits on most of the crap currently on TV!

Come on!

Also I do remember reading about the beta but never took too much interest because I never get into those things :(
So it was a surprise that I did! :)

British shows, for the greater part, consist of tighter, smaller runs of series that are usually the brainchild of one person or group and are allowed to run their course. I would care if [insert current flavour of the month British person here] didn't do an episode of [that show that they're known for] because it is their show. The shorter series allow that person to write each episode and overseas a lot of the production, too. It's not possible with the traditional American Season.

Would someone have the care needed to know that of the entire 200 of so episodes of Friends, whoeverthefuck wasn't there for the last season? Maybe, but most likely not.

The way I always look at it that American television is way too long and protracted for enough quality to be condensed into it the way an English show is. This is why HBO and Showtime are getting so many great shows, as their are opting for smaller seasons which allow the creators greater control of the total output.

The US version of The Office produced more episodes in their first season than the entire run of the show on which it was based. Fucking crazy.

Speaking of which, Armando tweeted that he has finished writing 7 The Thick of It eps, to air later this year.

Hhhhnnnnnnngggggg.

The Simpsons had more than 5 classic seasons. Surely. I'm sure there are some crackers as far in as like 12. (I've just pulled that number out of my arse and I have no idea, but wasn't Scorpio like 8 or 9?)

I suck at putting thoughts and impression into words without just saying "It's fun/great/bad/sucks" so I'm not going to do that because nobody benefits from it. Anyway, after 2 hours of playing the beta, I highly recommend Torchlight 2 as a game that people should play. Especially those that liked Torchlight 1 and those that have issues with Diablo 3. Torchlight 2 really is just Torchlight 1 but bigger and better.

If anyone has questions I can answer them, but I'm not going to type out a long post that is filled with stuff you probably already know and are probably sick of hearing ('combat is "meaty", art and colours are diverse and vibrant') you know, the usually stuff you hear from previews.

Just before I stopped playing I fought a dungeon boss that was really satisfying to see him finally die (Veteran difficulty). Two skeletons detach themselves from a wall and then a bunch of normal sized skeletons jump down into this arena like room. About 30 seconds later the dungeon boss crawls out of the hole in the centre of the room and he is huge, at least 4 times the size of my character. Next thing I know there are about 30 or so skeletons chasing me around this room with more coming in at every angle. My pet, a white panther named Kubrick (it was the first randomly generated name I got and stuck with it), ran way because he was hurt badly. Cue this hilarious scene where I'm kiting all these enemies while letting them chase me around the hole in the middle (if there was ever a time for the Benny Hill theme). I don't know how long it took to kill him but it felt like a long time. Something about that fight just confirmed to me that Torchlight 2 and Runic have just nailed the feel of an APRG, it's intense at times and a bit chaotic.

Buy Torchlight 2, it's $20 and it's fantastic.

Apart from that grubber cooper has been good. Cut through the lions in the lead up to the reds' try and was fearless leaping for a charge down. He missed but its not something you see who's worried about a leg injury do.

And digby is looking great. Get that man the ball

Yes yes, you've got you're key and are in the beta. WE GET IT.

I'm playing the beta. I agree. If you like Diablo or Torchlight you will love Torchlight 2. Playing as a gunslinger with a feisty little ferret named Guybrush. Initially it gave him the name Ollie which was a bit creepy as that is my sons name. Changed it to he doesn't get confused when I am yelling at the PC about being a bad little ferret.

I'm going to say this now before I inevitably get angry at the result: Richmond are a big improver and not the insipid team they were in years past.

They will worry a lot of teams this year.

nah, I put Holy's rambling into babelfish >_>

I dont think even babelfish could make sense of what I presume is touchscreen typos combined with drunken misspellings.

If the Nazis had access to capacitive touchscreens and HTC phones, Enigma would have been unnecessary.

LOL DEMONS. Could be mark of the year (aside from him spilling it once he hit the ground) but they really made themselves look like amateurs in this video. A thousand handballs in panic and no clue what to do. Play some Benny Hill over the top and you got your end of year montage for them to play during their best and fairest. Long way back to the big leagues.

I think you took what I wrote the wrong way. Around the end of Season 4 all the crew thought that the show was going to be cancelled. All the original staff writers had burnt out and left the show. The new crew were able to continue writing and producing the show in a similar fashion while still making it brilliant in a different way. It was only when the crew that took over around the 12th season that the quality really went downhill fast, I think David Mirkin or someone was the show runner for 8 seasons straight or something stupid? All the high flyers got poached or burnt out.

The best Simpsons episode is in season 8. We all know that!

I just finished that dungeon too! Best boss battle in a loot'em up that I have played in ages! They really improved the musical cues out of sight, really pumps you up and makes those moments feel even more special. The pacing of the battles are spot on too.

And the outdoor areas are HUUUUUUGE!

I am giddy at how Torchlight 2 was exactly as I had hoped; like the step up from Diablo 1 to Diablo 2, this mimics that big jump in scope and depth. It really FEELS like a true successor to those games and I am loving the shit out of it.

Also I am sure you can guess my ID on Torchlight 2.

That awkward moment when you're mid-poop and hear a knock at the door, remembering you ordered a pizza.
He won't go anywhere, he needs that pizza to be paid for man, take your time.

Huh there you go, I didn't know any of that. Its a testament to old Simpsons that those season are still so well regarded despite the absolute garbage they've been pumping out for the better part of 10 years now

And jase that could be the event of the thread.

Got held up for 1.5 hours in traffic on the M4 on the way to Heathrow for a flight to Amsterdam last week. It's usually a 30 minute trip. Completely missed the flight and my weekend would have been ruined were it not for my driver's 3G-enabled iPad, so I managed to book a later flight. Whole thing was caused by a 5 car pileup. When I went to the BA service desk to sort out the situation, the guy in queue behind me was a passenger in the cab that caused the prang. Driver wasn't paying attention and smashed up the bum of the car in front, causing a pileup behind him. Ruined several thousand people's weekends as the traffic was stationary for miles behind us.

Caught the 8pm Friday flight into Amsterdam, ran through the airport to a cab, and ran to my mate's hotel in town. Didn't miss much drinking time but the extra cash spent on changing the flight was an annoyance.

Was drunk within an hour of landing on heavy Belgian Beer. Went straight from the hotel to the red light district with my engineer mates. In attendance was a colleague who is a known solicitor of prostitutes. We go to a sex show, as you do, and we watch people rooting on stage. Had the realisation that I'd paid cash to look at a dude's penis. Not for me, really, I wouldn't buy again. When not at European exploitation shows I can get by pretty much exclusively on lesbian porn, no cocks thank you.

The show grinds on and there's an 'audience participation' part of the show. We all yell out for our prostitute-soliciting friend to be pulled up and of course he's the first on stage. I must have yelled louder than the others for 'volunteering' our friend, because the performer insisted that I too should join the stage. There I am, drunk on crappy Heineken in the heart of Amsterdam on all fours like a dog performing fellatio on a banana that's strapped into a Czech stripper's bikini in front of all my mates. Ate about 20 euros worth of McDonalds later that night.

Here's some beers I drank and didn't tweet about to the usual AusBoozeGAF mob.

Tomorrow night I go see Kanye West and Jay-Z play at the O2 in London. Not yet sure whether I'll take my 3DS for streetpass hits.
