In case you're not joking, or if anyone else thinks you're not and takes it to heart, I don't think this is really a valid complaint. If you really don't want to be spoiled on sporting events you have to stay away from all sources of news and discussion. People really shouldn't have to spoiler tag sporting results, or not talk about them while the event is happening.
Maybe you're making a clever statement about the nature of mass media, but TV falls under "source of news".
Spoiler tags would be appreciated for at least 24 hours after a sporting event IMO. Particularly when bigger events such as finals etc.
In a perfect world, they'd be there, but I think you're only doing yourself a disservice by expecting them somewhere where they're never going to be enforced.

Should all posting of live events be spoiler tagged? A lot of that goes on in this thread, from the AFL crew, to Origin, to Cricket. I'm not sure that you can call posting that has happened for years "inconsiderate".

I'm of the mind that for obvious, big-deal events that you should be mindful of it, but I don't think there's ever a need to walk on eggshells. Everyone generally has a good idea of what might be spoilable and what won't. Shit, on the night/morning of the Canadian GP, it was basically complete media blackout until the race was available for download on Usenet (was live @ 2am our time, not up for download until ~11am. Zero GAF, zero Twitter, a fair chunk of internet (but not in areas where sports discussion can creep in... sites like Guru3D) but that's it. Don't want to know what position an Australian finished in in Formula 1? Best not to go to an Australian-centric, largely OT thread on a gaming forum.
