I never understood how anyone could hate Halloween. The only reason I ever hear consistently is that it's American, and that because it's American that means it's somehow bad for everyone.
No, Thanksgiving is bad for everyone - the entire family gathering a month before Christmas is insane. They can keep that.
Halloween is the holiday where both adults and children get to dress up, be creative, have fun, scare people, decorate with actually fun stuff and consume things that are bad for you. You are not expected to buy anybody a gift, you are not expected to deal with anyone you don't want to and by having lollies ready for the kids coming to your door - you are then obligated to consume the leftovers yourself with absolutely no guilt...and there are always leftovers because it's not popular here.
There are no religious connotations, you just given an excuse to let loose and nobody is excluded from having fun.

The only real issue I have with it is the concept of forcing the event upon others that don't want to partake in it. I have no problem with people dressing up and having some fun together, but don't come to my door offering me an ultimatum of giving you 'candy' or you'll do something nasty to me.
Indeed. I have no problem with people using Hallowe'en as an excuse to have fun. But the US turning it into blackmail is just awful. Give me lollies, or we'll chuck eggs at your house. Nice.
Maybe what they've become isn't religious, but they sure as hell started out that way, and in more religious countries still are celebrated as a religious day, not a commercial one.
Personally, I prefer the idea of the current version of Thanksgiving to the current version of Christmas.

Well, the day was actually going pretty damned well. And then I accidentally clicked the Fringe thread. First goddamn line on the page is a major spoil of the latest episode :-(
Also, you people who are down on Halloween have no fun left in you.
The "hurr durr it's foreign/American" thing against Halloween always seemed silly to me given that pretty much the entirety of our culture is cribbed from other countries, including the US. No we didn't have Halloween when I was a kid but my second language is Simpsons References so we're kind of passed the point of worrying about other cultures impinging on us.
After a second playthrough on 360 I can be assured that The Darkness 2 is 'FPS of the year'. Might have to do a little writeup on why it is amazeballs.

I just think halloween is dumb:/ Asian halloween is legit though, something about how it's when all the ghosts/spirits roam the streets so you're supposed to not go outside....
Anyway, I was just happily playing 999 and then BAM BAD END... Kinda abrupt really, I was starting to get all excited about nearing the end and getting to the omg holy crap stuff that apparently goes down.
I don't mind Halloween parties as an adult where you dress up and drink heaps of booze, just seems really unsafe and just plain annoying for kids who trick or treat.
Was there some pre-halloween thing tonight? I drove through the city around midnight and there were tons of people in costumes and loads of cops all over King St.
Also, did anyone read 4chan's prank about Justin Beavers fake cancer? So many teens shaved their heads. It's the prank of the century!!!
The missus and her mate went pretty much all out on their costumes this year. She was Frankenstein's Monster, with full green make-up and painted skin plus a bolt through the neck. Mate was the devil, red make-up and painted skin, in a suit holding a pitchfork.
I am at home in pain thanks to my wisdom teeth removal.

Yeah, would've been nice if I was told about it being discounted WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY DISCOUNTED.*

I only saw your post about two hours after it was posted, so I wouldn't have seen it in time anyway
Hey, I actually managed to "upgrade" my Windpad tablet to Windows 8, too. Only cost me $15 as well!
1. Apply for discount as a part of a "new" PC that was purchased "since" June 1st this year (and up until Jan. next)
2. Run windows update software on regular Joe PC (apparently you can use an illegally registered version of Windows... mine's legit though, obv), apply code, buy Win8 (it will be the same x86/x64 version as whatever your desktop is, I don't think that can be determined otherwise) for the princely sum of $15.
3. Download installer (either to ISO for burning or to USB. ISO didn't like me putting in the code for some reason but the USB boot thingy was fine), boot up device with specific thingy and install with the key you were given in step #2.
4. Enjoy!
I don't know how legal any of it is or isn't (and if someone sees something in this post that should be edited out, Eurogamer-style, let me know!) but it's probably worth it for those of you who aren't keen on using Win8 for your primary PC but have something portable and touchy to use it on.

It's almost impossible to get the nearly good ending on your first try and absolutely impossible to get the good ending until you get the nearly good ending. 999 is designed in a way that you will get many of the bad endings first. It's fun that each ending actually can lead you to a better one if you don't use an ending guide to spoil it all. To avoid spoilers, take a look at the video that you unlocked for a hint on what to do next time...
Strangely enough it was a painless experience for me, took some panadol that day out of the hospital and then felt well enough to drive the 5 hours back to Geelong the next day with only a little bit of swelling. Hope it settles down quickly, did you have any issues before getting them taken out?
I just did a pre-calculation on my tax for the year (with a few estimates on deduction amounts, so not complete), and it seems I owe nearly $1,700... I miss my old refunds...
The payment is mostly due to earning a ton of untaxed bank interest, so I'm not too fussed, but man, I think I need to find some more deductions soon...

), didn't unlock any hints video:/ I'm not even sure which decisions determine the ending to be honest, so I'm just gonna go through again and choose different doors/options.
Definitely going to pickup the new vita one along with a bunch of other stuff next month. It's pretty relaxing to play even though there are tense-ish moments in the game. And I really like the puzzles, and how there aren't that many.
The shoppies union is the worst of the far right DLP catholic conseratives. This is the union that has the PM in their pocket and has convinced her to oppose Gay marriage etc...
What's the cheapest place to import a U.S region 3DS to Australia? Playasia seems cool but they are relatively pricey considering the exchange rate. I'm buying one just for Virtues last reward.
