A mate of mine did this for his AdSchool print ad assignment, and I thought it was pretty rad:

Volvo+Inside+no+copy.jpg

Volvo+Outside+no+copy.jpg

http://mistermetaphorism.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/adschool-print-ad-assignment-car-safety.html

Obviously, my car's not a Volvo but I couldn't resist the temptation to make my pride & joy the centrepiece of the project.

In case anyone's wondering, that's a 1979 Toyota Cressida. I have named her Betsy, the same name that Warren The Ape gives his BMW in Greg the Bunny.

Based on the hugely popular Nintendo series, Ace Attorney is set in a futuristic courtroom where trials are fast-tracked to fight rising crime. Rookie defence lawyer Phoenix Wright is pitted against his childhood friend and ruthless prosecutor Miles Edgeworth in a complex case linked to a 15-year-old mystery.Never has courtroom sparring been so frenetic, as the two sides engage in tournament-like bouts to win over the jury. Full of twists and turns, visual gags and extravagant hairstyles, this crowd-pleaser should appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike.

Going and stuff?

HA HA I'M GOING TO EVERY SESSION

Dunno if there are any The Living End fans in here but they're playing 7 shows in December, each one playing one of their 7 full-lengths in their entirety! I'm going with the girlfriend to one of the self-titled shows, and possibly (if money + ticket availability permits) going to Roll On.

In Steam sales news, I have purchased so far:
Code:
- Saints Row 3 Franchise Pack ($25)
- The Binding of Isaac ($1.25)
  - + Silence of the Lamb ($0.75)
- Ys Origin ($8)
- Total $35

I got Isaac purely because it was so cheap, wasn't really interested beforehand. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is one I want to check out but probably won't since it's $8 by itself for $10 in Indie Pack 3. If anyone is up for some Saints Row 3 coop tomorrow (Monday) night I am so so so down.

@Jambo: I found a copy of GTASA in EBGames for $9. The chick gave me two posters. :) Weeeee

Anyone here use Google+? It seems to be gaining steam overseas, but it doesn't appear to be popular at all in Australia.

Is Heir To The Empire up? Best Star Wars book EVER.

Everything's in goddamn audible. Although, I actually have physical copies of some of the Thrawn books, so maybe I should read that instead.

I'm getting dangerously addicted to FTL. 36 hours played and it's not even out of beta yet.

Dear AusGAF,
Should I jump in the tablet pool soon and get a Nexus? Or should I hold out and get a Surface? Bearing in mind I'd probably only get the RT, not the ultrabook version. Maybe I should just wait until there are some more details on the Surface shouldn't I?

Dear Pants,

Buy me one of each and I will test them extensively before rendering my highly-sought-after expert opinion.

So I heard about this DayZ thing and thought I should give it a whirl, except I didn't have ARMA2. So on the weekend I bought ARMA2 through Steam for just shy of $30 (including the expansion.) Took ages to download for some reason but I finally got to fire it up last night.

I gave it a solid two hours of play time before giving up and declaring it shit. About 30 minutes of that was wasted because the game got stuck due to a ridiculous AI bug about three missions in (being told to get into a Humvee that was being driven by an AI repeatedly into a blasted bus) and I couldn't figure any way to move it forward so had to reload.

Yes.

(I have a Transformer Prime and it's really nice)

Dammit, this was supposed to be an edit of my last post. I cannot drive the Internet this morning.

That is crazy cheap. But sleeping in jeans? Man, I don't know about that

Hang on, just let me get my credit card.

Yes.

What was that a yes too? My only reason for even considering the Nexus is 7" seems like a way better size for a tablet.

DayZ is one of those beautiful disasters that we get on PC from time to time that reminds us how awesome it is to have such an open and dynamic platform where you can have a project that shoots for the moon and is kinda up there 3/4 of the way in a rickety old USSR rust bucket. I didn't like it but everyone can easily fine a few aspects of it to be impressed by. Not many games can capture that feeling.

Yes. Yes you should. Not sure about the Nexus though.
While mourning the death of my Touchpad again I had thoughts of the Nexus but the 7" form just wouldn't cut it after using something bigger. Thankfully some rejiggering got the Touchpad going again so I can get some ScummVM running on the nice big screen!

I thought about a nexus. Check the ot thread, seems alright.

Though for an extra 200 you could get a iPad which in my eyes seems a better buy.

I think the best size of the tablet very much depends on the usage.

I have a 10" TouchPad and iPad and they're great for sitting on the couch, but I think a 7" would be much better if on the move or for reading in bed. I'm really tempted to pick up a Nexus 7 for travelling, reading and general use around the house.

Yes, you should get a tablet :)

Can't see the Surface app market really taking off in a big way for quite some time yet. The Apple market has obviously finally reached a pretty good level of maturity, and the Android market is getting there pretty quickly. Both took a good year of hardware sales to get there though.

Yeah, this makes sense. My 10" tablet is used to read Twits, email, G+, news feeds and to play games on. When I'm travelling it's also used to watch movies and TV on. I don't read books on it - that's what my Kindle is for (except I'm temporarily sans-Kindle at the moment so I'm actually using the tablet to read Kindle books on so I'm a liar now...)

Has anyone here used Quickflix?

They look like an Australian version of Netflix, but when I checked them out last year they only had physical DVD and Blu-ray rental.

Now it looks like they have online streaming capabilties, and only for $14.99 a month.

I need to stop falling asleep on the floor, its going to do my back in =/ But I wanna be close to the heater..

Yeah, my mum's really into getting dvds delivered now. It seems alright.

So on Saturday I played nearly all of the original Halo campaign with a friend. It was pretty painful in parts involving the Flood and of course the copy paste glory that is The Library. Have 2 more missions to go and I guess we will finish it for the sake of it all, but man back in 2002 console gamers were very easily pleased with gameplay, huh?

On Sunday I remedied this with a day of BF3. Loving TDM and the Support Class. BULLETS.

was a member for quite a while until recently.... (before online streaming though)

service itself is good but more pricey than just hopping up to your local video rental.

Alot of the good stuff is always on queue.... and its a hassle to quit. (have to ring up their callcentre and run through the usual gauntlet)

edit: didn't HBO buy a chunk of shares recently? Surely that bodes well for online content.

Hot water bottles haven't made it to Qld yet? :)

Well, I already have all them Hitmans so it's of no account, but still disappointing GAH REGION LOCKINGZ

Yeah, looks like Codename 47 for whatever reason isn't available to AU customers, so the package itself is also locked out.

Also pretty sure I own it anyway on steam.

What do you do with a hot water bottle? Snuggle it or something?

yeah, usually with a towel covering it if you put in boiling water. Or you can use it to warm up the bed beforehand.

There is always the fear that it'll leak one day and scald your..... O___O

Anyways its a cheap way to cut down on heating costs.

BUY AN ELECTRIC BLANKET! Don't even notice it in the electric bill even though I run it on high pretty much 24/7 during winter. Best investment ever. An investment in my health and wellbeing.

I'm more of a layer sort of guy. I have a kick arse doona, then a couple of extra blankets to throw on top. Only have a minute or so of cold, then it gets toasty.

Just get Netflix. It's only $8/month.

This is what I have, except I put the blankets underneath the doona.

So it goes, from bottom to top:

flannelette sheet
blanket
blanket
doona

It's awesome.

It gets so cold in my room I can see my breath :(

true.... it'd be about the same as a light bulb I think...

but I like HWB because of its portability. eg: camping/outdoor trips.

Also you can use the water for making a cuppa too :) (not the old water..... the kettle water)

Two doonas. I don't deal with the cold very well.

:O I hadn't even considered it. I don't go to bed with the heater on, for clarification. I've been lying in front of it because of the warmth and then getting a bit too comfortable.
