I'm glad Crunchyroll has invested all of that money into quality translation work.

They'd provided a quality service but the mobile app and server issues when an episode is available could be better. It's still a good service overall especially the ps4 app. Wish them the best.

Yup. Theres definitely room for improvement in the service itself but its encouraging more fans are choosing to pay for anime. Its good for the industry.

At least CR's app is miles better than Funimations. I'm not a big fan of Funimations service in general but they have a solid library so I just put up with it. I personally found both the CR and Funi apps on the Xbone to be meh, whereas the Wii U CR app is excellent.

I'm glad Crunchyroll has invested all of that money into quality translation work.

lol. I'm still not over the SNAFU fuck ups.

Though seriously, the vast majority of the earnings probably go directly to the studios.

I still don't buy into streaming services to watch movies and shows. Silly vids of cats on YouTube? I'm fine with that. Google Music is pretty handy too I guess but I can't invest in consuming content on Netflix, CR etc.

Buying all that anime must be expensive!

Anyone excited about the possible announcement of My Hero Academia anime adaptation?
I know these are only rumours right now but CR has posted some news about it so I guess I can hope.

I mean it is but to be honest I haven't watched all that much over the years at all. I'm a lightweight in other words so its not too bad.
I used to buy a bunch from RightStuf, but the Canadian dollar is so garbage right now that streaming is the better option.

I regret starting this yet I was fully aware of what it potentially could have been.

At least there was some fan service-y bits.

I'm gonna cry about the wasted 4 hours now.

glad I dropped it around 6 or so

Futsuu Kato couldn't save that show

I can second that comment about the Canadian dollar. Kinda unrelated, but next week I'm traveling to NY and I had to buy some USD yesterday. My wallet was fucking weeping after I left my bank.

Hmmm… SliceSabre's avatar seems familiar. A re-colour of GAF-chan?

I remember SliceSabre saying a few posts back how he was going to save some pic of Gaf-chan for "future use". Guess this is it aha.

When I went to Seattle in August, I'm certain we were under 0.75CAD:1USD.

Justin Trudeau will save anime.

I stole BGBW's old Gaf-chan avatar and tried editing out Haruka on the mirror and putting in my other avatar but I suck ass at MS paint picture editing so this is the alternative.

She's not as good as Gaf-chan but nobody is perfect.

Don't care for the manga honestly though, it's pretty generic and mediocre imo.

However, I do hope it gets a good adaptation for the fans.

I mean, I think CR deserves some credit. With the rise of simulcasts, there's pretty much more anime available than I could physically watch, translated competently and quickly at a completely reasonable price.

If you don't think CR produces competent subs then I'd like to give you a time machine to 5-10 years ago and you could give what passed for fansubs back then a try. Just sayin'

^ Lucky bastards. Getting MI and everything else on Blu-ray.

As much as I'd like to watch Maison Ikkoku or even Touch! on Blu-ray that's not something I'd ever buy - because that's the kind of show I'd probably only watch once. I'd certainly love to stream it in HD (something that will surely never happen).

Urusei Yatsura, on the other hand, is something I might want to own on Blu-ray because those episodes have a certain amount of rewatch potential.
Gundam Build Fighters Try END

The finale was a boring hodgepodge of random shit.

Man, GBF's finale was fucking awesome.

Man, GBF was fucking awesome.

It is known.
When I get back into watching stuff, sometime soon, I think that I've narrowed down my options down as to what I watch next:
  • Marco, From the Apennines to the Andes (Isao Takahata)
  • Anne of Green Gables (Isao Takahata)
  • My Daddy Long Legs
  • Oniisama e... (Dezaki)
  • The Snow Queen (Dezaki)
  • Ie Naki Ko (Dezaki)
  • Future Boy Conan (Miyazaki)

No idea which I'll start with.

You can't really go wrong here because its pretty much all good.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? ep.7-9:
The show has a lot more drama and emotion than I thought it would. I was expecting more of a American Pie slapstick and ecchi comedy out of this series, but there is definately a lot more depth to it.

When I went to Seattle in August, I'm certain we were under 0.75CAD:1USD.

Justin Trudeau will save anime.

Yeah... That was before games skyrocketed to $74.99 right? Yesterday the dollar was at 1.36CAD:1USD. Insanity I'm telling you. At least now we got Mr.True Though on our side
guy is awesome, hope to be able to reunite my family here one day! Hurray!

It's really good work man be proud of it aha. I have fun doing avatars, I think the one I have is probably my best work simply because I had to refurbish a lot of it since the original image came from a video in which Chitanda is constantly in front of the poster that has this image on it. Didn't help that the camera kept moving too. It took a few screenshots, resizing and gluing pieces together, as well as cleaning and making a transparent background. I had fun with it, and I did it all on Paint.NET

People take services like CR for granted. I still remember trying to hunt down VHS/DVDs for shows that didn't get proper subbing. Waiting for fansubs was a nightmare without an official site.

Don't get what your talking about. All I see is empty space.

It would be nice is Crunchyroll's streaming wasn't garbage.

Things may be different where you are in the UK, but here in the US I wouldn't call Crunchyroll's streaming "garbage". It's not perfect, and I would like to see parts of it improve such as increased stability and more accurate translations (even if it had to come at the expense of more of a delay in streaming time), but overall it's a solid service. The site is well-organized and the stream quality is usually fine. It's better than any of its competitors in the anime streaming market.

I will always be glad Crunchyroll exists, because since they will put bids in for anything they'll translate shows such as Kaasan Mom's Life and Shin Atashinchi that no one else would touch.

That's interesting, I guess I never think of how re-watchable something is when I make a purchase, irresponsible of me I know. I generally purchase a show if I like it and if the packaging looks nice, or have a vested interest in the series/franchise.

In actuality I don't think that I've watched a show more then once outside of the Ghibli films, Eva and Bebop. I guess in a sense I hold by first viewing dearly and tend to let the past be the past. Maybe there's a fear that I'll look back with harsher eyes if I was to revisit a once beloved series, but maybe in thinking so I have already admitted so.

I will admit that the packaging is the biggest boon for picking said series up. I've always liked graphics design and physical goods.

You can't really go wrong here because its pretty much all good.
Those are words I want to hear, but being yourself it doesn't surprise me, I think that we're not to dissimilar when it comes to our appreciation for the WMT series. When I watch them I hope to keep you all inundated with my impressions in the hopes that more pick them up.

Tsukimonogatari
So we all agree that Tsuki is the best looking Gatari right ?

Random musings:

+Best OP

+ Good OST, might be my favourite in the series.

+ The incest porn lasts only 10 and not 20 minutes like I thought. phew.

+ There is a wealth of pretty, colourful andimaginative backgrounds and a surprising amount of movement from the characters. As far as visuals are concerned it blows away Hitagi's End with ease. And the new stylistical choices for the text panels are a breath of fresh air.

- Tadatsuru's choice to well
practically commmit suicide
is weird, given that he pretty much guessed Ougi's game.

Tsuki is weaker that Koimonogatari (good God, not only the timeline but even naming of this series is hella confusing) storywise. Where Tsuki seems to be more of a prologue for the coming events, HE delivers (seemingly) climactic ends to the stories of Nadeko and Kaiki while still managing to flesh out Senjougahara. Tsuki beats it handily in the more technical departments. I'd say they're on par for me.

Tsukimonogatari = Hitagi End >> Shinobu Time > Kabukimonogatari = Nekomonogatari (Shiro) > Hitagi Crab

Oh Araragi pretty much call Ougi as the "Darkness". So much for my theory...

It's only now that I realised that the entire prologue is a flash forward.

My guess is that translations cost barely anything and the rights to obscure stuff probably costs almost nothing.

Don't care for the manga honestly though, it's pretty generic and mediocre imo.

However, I do hope it gets a good adaptation for the fans.

I gave it a try and it did nothing for me, so yeah, I kind of agree with this.

Basically nothing in Jump other than Naruto/OP/Bleach is ever gonna get a full adaptation, so I don't really follow the whole "wait until there's more material!" complaints. This is why while I'd be happy with a S2 of Shokugeki, it doesn't actually matter if it happens. The chance of them adapting the entire thing is like 0 since that shit is going to go for 300+ chapters easily. (For those that don't read the manga, the anime's 24 episodes covered up to Chapter ~59).

Assassination Classroom ought to get a full adaptation. I fully expect Lerche to announce an s3 once s2 is done airing. Its following the Bakuman way.

Voice cast and composer is the most important thing I need. If Kaminari and Todoroki sound terrible, heads are gonna roll.

Those are indeed great criteria. I always though that the opening and ending of an anime are super important because it's what gets you IN the show.

But yea the animation studio, the voice cast and the composer are all major things.

Subete 3

So as I suspected, this is a much more traditional murder mystery than it seemed at first. We have the couple of protagonists playing detective, a seemingly impossible murder (closed room case!), and a new death of a key character who maybe had a hand in the first murder.

The Perfect Insider Episode 3:

Okay, first off, ew and indeed secondly double ew. Anyway, not that the actual mystery has begun I am vastly more interested and invested in this work. Also, note to Ranpo Kittan, this is what an actual mystery looks like, watch several times and take notes. Finally, I keep wishing that Hishimono will be the next murder victim but I know that is not happening.

I get a lot of hitching and other issues constantly with their streaming and it's certainly not due to my connection speed. I'll certainly agree that they're better than their official competition, but they're still nowhere as good as streaming for something like, Netflix. I know it's completely unfair to compare the two companies for a myriad of reasons but, on the consumer end, it doesn't really matter what matters is that I tend to have lots of issues with their product.

First the Wii getting an app in 2015, and now this collaboration. When will they invest in proofreaders :(
CR3NjcgUEAAwp0q.png

They could've kind of salvaged it by using "I'ma also stay with you", even though it only would've made sense worked if the character was going to town on impolite slang.

Edit: Talking about CR, I've only had good experiences with them so far. I tried their WiiU app once just to see how it was and it worked fine, and the PC and mobile versions were both fine for me as well.
