Like I said, if they're lurking and they care, they will post.

No, we don't always post. We more than likely will look elsewhere first if we know places to go, but often I like to see what GAF is saying for a particular season. But sure, whatever.

It is what it is. Dragging this out when the mods have made their wishes clear, especially playing the unfair card (please stop doing this people), isn't going to do anyone any good.

Well, if this continues this is how certain other community threads eventually got nuked into oblivion.

Entertaining episode, the flashbacks and forwards are still interesting. However, I still wonder if it's all going to fit together nicely before the season ends because if it doesn't it's going to be a mess. At some point read that it's going to be 2 cour so idk if it'll be split or even if that's true.

Also first post, hello everyone :)

I assume this is what Shouta's thinking in terms of an ideal OT or somewhat close to it.

Honestly speaking, how does this look any better. No offense to the OP creator but this is so bloated and it's an expanded info shitshow. Like... This is not any more helpful than the condensed shit we got from BGBW.

I don't have a problem with the current format, as I said. It's mostly the joke descriptions. Even GAF-Chan is fine.

No, we don't always post. We more than likely will look elsewhere first if we know places to go, but often I like to see what GAF is saying for a particular season. But sure, whatever.

If you're interested in what we're saying then you're free to read the thread outside of the OP since it'll provide bountiful info. The OP isn't going to give us impressions on every single show especially since it hasn't aired. And even if it did air, how are we going to choose what goes on there or not. Someone has to take the time to do that, and once again, if they want to then by all means more power to them, but that require so much extra legwork it's not even worth it really. There is going to be more info in the thread itself than the OP. That's a fact period.

Well, if this continues this is how certain other community threads eventually got nuked into oblivion.

If they get nuked then they probably deserved to get nuked.

And I will try this if anything grabs me. So far Durarara! seems the most interesting for my tastes but it's bit too difficult and the fact that it is appealing makes me loathe to watch without comprehension.

Durarara! (and its sequel Durarara!! x2) is a good intro anime imo. However things to expect: it's an episodic show with plots starting/ending each episode so don't expect an overarching plot with the show. The series prides itself on its characters and interactions with each other which is what alto of people (myself included) praise the show for.

I honestly don't know what people would want from an anime OT that they couldn't get from anichart.net, if all they really wanted was the name of a show and when it airs.

Who is going to do the work to post legible and understandable dry interpretations of the story for each anime?

Official Funimation show description from a season already in progress:
In the second season of Noragami the main focus is on Bishamon, god of war. She has many shinki due to her being unable to abandon spirits attacked by Ayakashi. She has a large group of shinki with her as leader, causing her trouble as she sometimes cannot tend to all of them properly, especially when one of them gets sick or is in pain. She has a strong hate for Yato, as a dark past binds the two of them. How will the horrifying events dated hundreds of years ago in combination with current evil happenings affect Yato and Yukine?
It's pretty much nonsense even knowing what the show is about.

Lots of stuff has little to no valuable info before it airs, particularly translated into English, and it's hard to know what will be worth watching. If the OP is just going to be a regurgitation of the mess of info on a website like Anichart or MAL why bother reformatting it to fit in the thread when you can just link to it?

Personal touches to descriptions is really helpful. One Punch Man's anichart description is a pretty dry one. Someone that's read the manga can mention in the description how great of a read it was and is definitely one to watch out for, etc.

Rewrite it, send me the changes, then me or another mod can put it in?

I really have to go to bed now, but here's a quick thing I slapped together.

Notable New TV Shows:

Comet Lucifer - The story takes place on the planet Gift, where precious crystals called Giftjium are buried in the earth. A young man named Sōgo lives in Garden Indigo, a prosperous mining town. Sougo's hobby is to collect rare crystals. One day, he gets wrapped up in a riot caused by his classmates Kaon, Roman, and Otto, and he loses his way until he finds a lake deep under the ground's mining ruins. There, he meets a mysterious girl with blue hair and red eyes that gaze straight ahead. The story follows the adventure of what happens after this meeting.

Concrete Revolutio - The stage is set in “another Japan” as a banquet of diverse superhumans unfolds… In an imaginary "age of gods" about 20 years after the war, Japan has grown and developed by leaps and bounds. What if all the superhumans ever written about in fictional stories existed at the same time? Superhumans who came into existence through different circumstances, and who are special in different ways -- Titans from outer space, lifeforms from a mystical world, phantoms and goblins from ancient times, cyborgs created by scientists, relics that rose out of the ruins of ancient civilizations, and the list goes on. One segment of these superhumans makes no secret of their existence and has gained popularity in society. Others cloak their identities and fight in secrecy.

Fushigi na Somera-chan - The original manga follows the daily life of Somera-chan, a wielder of mysterious magical powers, and those around her.

Hacka Doll: The Animation - The anime personifies the Hacka Doll app's customization engine as three "Hacka Dolls" — the personal entertainment AI and main navigator Hacka Doll #1, the anime expert Hacka Doll #2, and the knowledgeable otaku Hacka Doll #3.

Haikyuu S2 - A direct sequel to the Haikyuu!! TV anime. After losing against Aoba Jousai, the whole Karasuno team feels at a loss. Especially Kageyama and Hinata, who seem to be the most devastated about the defeat. However, the team soon cheers up when a chance for them to go to Tokyo appears. During their training camp there, Karasuno will meet new formidable opponents.

Kagewani - Mysterious monsters that appear and attack in present time. The people can only be played with by them in this extreme situation. Why do these monsters appear to attack people...? Sousuke Banba, a scientist, searches for the truth with the keyword "Kagewani" A new feeling of panic suspense animation begins.

Lovely Muco - The happy daily life of Muco, a not-too-bright Akita dog, and his owner Komatsu-san the glass-blower.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans - 300 years after a great conflict between Earth and Mars known as the "Calamity War," a woman named Cordelia sets out on a journey to Earth to speak for the independence of the Martian city of Chryse, which is under the control of the Earth government. Escorting her is the private security company CGS members Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka. When a group named Gjallarhorn attacks CGS and Cordelia, Orga sees this as a chance to rebel against CGS and launch a coup. Mikazuki and Orga are thrust into a new conflict. To fend off Gjallarhorn, Mikazuki rides an old mobile suit from the Calamity War, powered by a nuclear reactor, the Gundam Barbatos.

Noragami Aragato - Season two of Noragami, which adapts the manga's Bishamon and Yomi arcs.

One Punch Man - The manga revolves around the titular super hero who has trained so hard that his hair has fallen out, and who can overcome any enemy with one punch. However, because he is so strong, he has become bored and frustrated with winning all his battles so easily.

Osomatsu-san - The series follows the characters from the Osomatsu-kun manga after they've become adults.

Owarimonogatari - The anime will cover the "Ougi Formula," "Sodachi Riddle," and "Sodachi Lost" chapters from the first novel, as well as the "Shinobu Mail" chapter from the second novel.

Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider - The story of the original Subete ga F ni Naru novel revolves around Souhei Saikawa, a member of the Saikawa Research Lab. He goes on a vacation held by the lab, and Moe Nishinosono, the daughter of his mentor, joins the group on their vacation despite not being a part of the lab. There, the two end up finding a corpse. The two work together to solve the mysteries of what becomes a serial murder case.

Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen - When I came to, I realized I was standing in the middle of a vast, snowy plain I knew nothing of. I didn't know how I got there. And to add to that, I couldn't remember anything, not even my name. I stood there, dumbfounded at my absurd situation. But then, as if to spite me further, a gigantic monster suddenly appeared, an insect-like creature that began to bear down on me. I tried desperately to run, but it cornered me into a hopeless situation. It was then that the girl appeared. Her name was Kuon. It was this beautiful girl, who bore an animal's ears and tail, who saved my life.

Teekyuu S6 - Teekyuu is based on a sports comedy manga of the same name featuring four high school girls who belong to a tennis club. Although the amount of tennis they play is questionable.

Notable Recent and Upcoming OVAs/Movies on Disc:

Animator Expo - A varied series of shorts from top creative talent working in anime.

Digimon Adventure Tri - The first movie in the new Digimon Adventure series. The sequel series will tell a "new story for all the DigiDestined in the world" and features the characters in their highschool days.

Ghost in the Shell: New Movie - Set after the events of Arise, the film involves the assassination of the Prime Minister of Japan which is publicly described as the "greatest event since the war". It is up to Public Security Section 9, led by Major Motoko Kusanagi, to discover the true nature of the murder. They are aided by the Prime Minister's son, Osamu Fujimoto.

Gundam the Origin - The first episode, Aoi Hitomi no Casval, tells the story of Casval Rem Deikun and Artesia Som Deikun (Char and Sayla, before Char became known as the Red Comet) before the One-Year War in UC.0068. The story for the second episode, Kanashimi no Artesia, moves three years ahead to U.C. 0071. The story will follow the tearful separation of the siblings Casval and Artesia (before they became known as Char and Sayla). It will also feature more of the development of the mobile suits, particularly on the Zeon side.

Gundam Thunderbolt - The story is set in the same One Year War in UC 0079 as the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. It follows the battles between two ace pilots of the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation at the "Thunderbolt Sector," a shoal zone with numerous wrecks of space colonies and warships.

Miss Hokusai - The time: 1814. The place: Edo, now known as Tokyo. One of the highest populated cities in the world, teeming with peasants, samurai, townsmen, merchants, nobles, artists, courtesans, and perhaps even supernatural things. A much accomplished artist of his time and now in his mid-fifties, Tetsuzo can boast clients from all over Japan, and tirelessly works in the garbage-loaded chaos of his house-atelier. He spends his days creating astounding pieces of art, from a giant-size Dharma portrayed on a 180 square meter-wide sheet of paper, to a pair of sparrows painted on a tiny rice grain. Short-tempered, utterly sarcastic, with no passion for sake or money, he would charge a fortune for any job he is not seriously willing to undertake. Third of Tetsuzo's four daughters and born out of his second marriage, outspoken 23-year-old O-Ei has inherited her father's talent and stubbornness, and very often she would paint instead of him, though uncredited. Her art is so powerful that sometimes leads to trouble. "We're father and daughter; with two brushes and four chopsticks, we'll get by anywhere." Decades later, Europe was going to discover the immense talent of Tetsuzo. He was to become best known by one of his many names: Katsushika Hokusai. He would mesmerize Degas and Van Gogh, Monet and Klimt, Edmond de Goncourt and Debussy. However, very few today are even aware of the woman who assisted him all her life, and greatly contributed to his art while remaining uncredited. This is the untold story of O-Ei, Master Hokusai's daughter: a lively portrayal of a free-spirited woman overshadowed by her larger-than-life father, unfolding through the changing seasons.

Sinbad: A Flying Princess and a Secret Island - Sinbad dreams of voyaging to an unknown world. He and his pet monkey Mimi encounter Sana, a girl riding a flying wooden horse. Then, the wind shifted.

Tamayura Graduation Photo - The third movie in a series of Tamayura movies that wrap up the series.

Typhoon Noruda - The film takes place at a school in Japan where a group of students and their teacher have to wait out a storm that is passing by. The protagonist Azuma has been fighting with his best friend Saijo and has a lot on his mind when he encounters a girl (Noruda) with a mysterious necklace. The girl seems to be in trouble and somehow connected to the storm. Azuma is taken over by a strong will to help this enchanting girl. Who is she and why is she in the middle of the storm? Can Azuma be any help to her? Why is his relationship with Saijo in such turmoil? The story combines little everyday problems and joys with an adventure that is out of this world.

When Marnie Was There - A young girl is sent to the country for health reasons, where she meets an unlikely friend in the form of Marnie, a young girl with flowing blonde hair. As the friendship unravels it is possible that Marnie has closer ties to the protagonist than we might expect.

Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark - A new super weapon has emerged and Gamilas ships vanish from the seas. In the meantime, the Yamato has left the Large Magellanic Cloud and is on its way back to the Milky Way Galaxy. During the voyage, the crew is hit by a gatlantean warrior fleet under command of Goran Dagam, who claims the "Yamatee" as his prey. After Susumu Kodai in command refuses to give up the ship, the Yamato makes a run and accidentally ends up inside a strange world that defies logic and the law of physics. An expedition team is sent to the surface and makes a truly mind-boggling experience that they cannot escape. Next to that the team doesn't seem to be alone after they encounter their old foes. Time runs out and the Gamilas and Terrons walk a thin line in a world that's not their own, having the Gatlanteans sitting in their necks.

I'd like to do a better job with this than what's mostly copy-and-paste from elsewhere, but like I said I'm tired and if something needs to be done, let's do it and move on. If someone else here wants to take this and edit the descriptions, please feel free.

If you're interested in what we're saying then you're free to read the thread outside of the OP since it'll provide bountiful info. The OP isn't going to give us impressions on every single show especially since it hasn't aired.

I'm not looking for series impressions, I'm looking for season preview info stuff. Usually the shows that get posted in the season OP are what people in the thread are looking forward to at the very least, since there's not always a complete listing for every show of the season. This is how anime OTs have been ever since I've been on GAF, and as I mentioned earlier, not all of them end up with useful info so often times I have to go do a bit more digging around to get more info on something that catches my eye.

I'm just trying to say I do know lurkers that get curious about things and end up going elsewhere because they're turned off by confusing OPs and attitudes like "if you care enough, you'll read through this several hundred page thread and post to ask questions." Not just anime, but plenty of other threads as well.

But sure, whatever, your authoritative post on the matter clarifies it all up...I guess there is a reason I mainly lurk these threads these days.

This seems massively idiotic. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you're asking to be spoonfed information only and not engaging the community. I don't get it. Is the thread supposed to be useful for only the lurkers or the posters? Or a combo of both. If you're only lurking and you're not getting the relevant information because you're participating in the formation of something, or actively changing something (like making a thread yourself), then why should it be formed so it's best suited for lurkers. The OP is a faciliatator. It's not the cheatsheet for lurkers. I'm not trying to sound like an ass or be callous but it seems like the points you're bringing up seem really moot.

It's going to be a tall order to find anyone here who has watched enough of every show listed to give a good description of them. Best to just pull descriptions from other websites unless building OTs becomes a community activity.

This is inevitably going to be editorial in nature, which is why I find it strange that someone would have a problem with how the OTs have been made or even the current OT.

Well, for one, what if they don't know about anichart.net?

Personal touches to descriptions is really helpful. One Punch Man's anichart description is a pretty dry one. Someone that's read the manga can mention in the description how great of a read it was and is definitely one to watch out for, etc.
I've always jokingly advocated OT creators just post an anime chart because it's more useful for people to actually explain their preferences and ask for recommendations, particularly because there are experts in certain genres that are going to be able to provide better recommendations.

I'd rather we just replace the descriptions and be done with it. BGBW did a lot of work on the OP, even if some of it was a joke, and if the descriptions are all that need to go I'd rather we just get rid of those.

The OP is a cursory glance at what's airing this season. With limited space to work with and like 90+ shows airing in a season I don't really know what the expectation is. We have a lot of people, or used to at least, that are knowledgeable about staff listings and take a lot of interest in promotional websites/preview info for upcoming shows. There's a lot of info that can be added to an OT that's not just regurgitation.

So yeah lets go back to talking about anime, mod calling us to changing OP after some random thread pop up for no reason, cool, lets do that.

Move on.

Any anime aficionados out there willing to provide their recommendation between Beast King GoLion or its localized counterpart Voltron: Defender of the Universe? The latter variant was probably the first anime that I ever experienced in my life, but I heard it was heavily altered for violence and rewrote the entire story arc from its original release. I generally prefer watching a series within the context of its original presentation but, on the other hand, the English adaptation rocks out a nostalgic opening theme with narration from Optimus Prime and received a whole new set of episodes in response to its popularity outside of Japan.

Oh thanks.I only really needed the ones listed in the OP though, lol.

If I was making the thread, that's what I'd highlight. I can't in good conscience help the promotion of something like Hidan no Aria AA.

But anyway, I didn't make the thread and I don't really care what happens to the OP since I'm not looking at it anyway.

Please. Perhaps I'm trying to hard to read the subtext of Xy's posts and make assumptions and from that standpoint I can be making bad assumptions and on the completely wrong side of the coin. That being said, the way I read that is "I care about what this community has to say so it should say what this community is thinking" when the OT is a culmination of a single poster's view of the season, joke or no joke. So the conclusion is to either make it a community effort, like a few years ago when I was actively engaged and it was hard coordinating everything, or just make it extremely barebones without the personality of the community behind it.

I already know what Shouta is going to say about leave the personality there and just remove the jokes. I get his points. I don't disagree entirely.

Anyway, it seems like my posts are causing strife so I'm just going to leave it at that. I'm done. Feel free to berate my idiocy.

Sorry Envelope for not listening earlier.

I generally prefer watching a series within the context of its original presentation but, on the other hand, the English adaptation rocks out a nostalgic opening theme with narration from Optimus Prime and received a whole new set of episodes in response to its popularity outside of Japan.

for some reason I feel like like the non-localized version has a pretty rockin' OP but I could be confusing it with something else

The season is over in like a month anyway, who cares what shows are in the OP? Let's just make people happy and move on. Whoever makes the next OP can take recs and put actually interesting things into the descriptions.

Complaining about "spoonfeeding"? Is this 4chan? The OP exists, and has always existed, as a public courtesy to everyone regardless of their level of engagement with the community. There has never been some kind of unspoken quid pro quo where we insist that passers-by grovel before the elder gods of the thread so that we may magnanimously impart to them Deep Mystical Insights about the season. If anything, it takes more effort to actively decide what information to exclude than to simply include everything.

Even if it wasn't grossly elitist, talk like this will get the thread nuked because, ultimately, GAF exists to generate revenue and suggestions to lower traffic in a high volume thread will not be received kindly.

I look forward to continuing to ignore the OP like I always have unless it is something special like BGBW's.

I feel like the show is trying to introduce and flesh out all of the important characters before letting the shit hit the fan. I've got no problem with that thus far cause I've been enjoying all of this.

I would be interested to see if there are a significant number of people who
1) only read the first post and never post in the thread
2) only use neogaf as their sole source of anime information

For me, it's not about being welcoming or not. I've always seen the OP as an art project for whoever wants to take the time to make it. It's an expression of creativity that introduces the thread but is never really talked about after the day it goes up.

Case in point.
