Go! Princess Precure Kirara time

CVgBgwtUkAEGW5P.jpg:large

So now, we're getting the reaffirmations of dreams, setting up a potential ending that is reminescent of one of Toei's earlier endings (but without anywhere NEAR the impact of that show). Kirara nearly got screwed over, but thanks to the power of CONNECTIONS (which is important to teach to kids) she can keep pursuing her goals.
Of course... we lead up to a moment where she's ultimately leaving the group after the end of the school year. The finale. I geniunely do not believe they can pull it off, partly due to lack of amount of episodes to boost attachment to characters, and because on average, Go! Princess hasn't exactly reached for the lengths as one of its predecessors

It took an entire season, but we did end up with a Kirara episode that didn't look like it was made on a budget.

I will say though, Towa wasn't exactly happy towards the end about all this. Like the most unhappy of the other three. Other than that, this was pretty much Kirara porn the episode.

I didn't expect a Shawshank Redeption reference in my anime but monogatari is one of the few shows that can get away with it. The first part has Gaen explaining lots of reasons as to why these apparitions have been appearing thanks to Shinobu's minion ruining the temple which houses these apparitions. Those burns toward my favorite loli slave hurt but Gaen is great. The second part was hilarious with Araragi and Kanbarus' banter of light novels. The obvious highlight was everyone laughing at Araragi in the book store. Man the samurai guy looks really strange. Don't dig his design at all.

Solid episode with a long match that will hopefully leave our team with a good mood after losing so much. Man that moment when they did the new quick toss was great. Lots of fun moments especially the silver haired guy going emo mode during the match. I can't handle it when these guys are cute together!

Haikyuu!! S2 10

I was so into the match that I hadn't even noticed that the episode was about to be over. Basically it was awesome watching the guys' new weapons. Just like Sensei said, the cogs are all there.

I don't think I originally picked up on the mono audio in the theater. I guess that's part of embracing the mono no aware experience in The Wind Rises.
As a result of the mono audio my theatre and presumably others only output the sound from the front center speaker, so it was pretty noticeable to me.

Asterisk 10

This show is making me cringe every time I watch it, I need to just drop this shit. Every 5 minutes I cringe. Stop. The. HEAD PATTING. And the battles do nothing for me. And now why is this chick sucking her sister's blood? Why am I even watching this?! Gonna do myself a favour and drop this even though there's only like 1 or 2 episodes left.

The Wind Rises

Not my favorite movie of Miyazaki's but I liked it well enough. I don't know how I'd taken its own without having seen Porco Rosso like I had last night. Felt the two movies are really, really complementary and both have this personal feeling like these are the movies Miyazaki made for himself more than anything. It's also something I feel I'll appreciate on repeat viewing or as something I watch later in life when I'm looking back rather than forward. Not a lot more to add outside of the sound effects which I thought were were mostly ok. In practical real world use, I thought they stood out but they gave the dream sequences and the earthquake scene a wonderfully surreal quality.

Anno's voice work on Jiro is good. It works better as the movie progresses because you do feel he is supposed to be older. The most jarring scene is when they first jump to an adult Jiro on the train because he looks like he could still be a teenager or something, and the voice totally doesn't fit. Same issue with Casval's voice in Gundam the Origin II. But once you get pass that, the voice work is pretty good. Jiro's discussions with his friend feel very natural.

Anno's amateurism works. I think I started liking his voice half way through the movie. lol

Oh that's the thing I knew I was forgetting when I made that pos. I'm so glad you mentioned it as iI was really jarring at first but it felt like he was far more comfortable in the role as it progressed to the point I forgot it was even him. I've also this affinity for VAs with only a couple roles as their unique voices/delivery does wonders in making a performance memorable, for better or for worse, in a realm populated with many familiar voices.

Examples:
  • Cobra from Space Adventure Cobra's film
  • Urabe from Mysterious Girlfriend X
  • Kong from Ping Pong

etc

Yeah, that's the exact scene that got me.

Subete no aware
This is where someone references that chastity belt anime and points out that the girl in that show was 14 and that was her first role.

Or something. lol

That train scene is exactly where I was when I posted earlier, he sounded like the Shizuku's dad from Whisper of the Heart which doesn't fit how Jiro the character looks. I did get used to his voice as the movie went along and I got an idea of how old he's supposed to be.

ZZ Gundam 18
Oh I finally figured out why I didn't quite get ZZ so far. It's not that it's Gundam or a secret super robot show or pushback to Zeta's darkness. It's actually just secret harem anime!!!!!

Definitely enjoyed this series. The premise was cool and I liked how they executed it. Going in I had thought that they were all going to be able to see Menma throughout the whole show, but that didn't turn out to be the case. I liked that since to me it made the last scene with the whole hide and seek that much more powerful. Speaking of that scene, I don't think there was any hint or foreshadow that they would all be able to see Menma though. Why was she all of a sudden visible to everyone? Can I chalk it up to power of feelings and friendship? Even if that's the case I'm okay with it. I felt if there were anytime for that to be a reason then I'm good with it here. They got to say their tearful goodbyes and at the end of the day I was happy they did. I'm also glad that they each were able to grow and better communicate with each other. That talk at the shrine was tough to watch, but it was another scene I really enjoyed. All in all, I am glad I gave this series a try as it was worth it.
