Starts out nice enough and is very SHAFT with regards to the visual presentation and direction but the story collapses towards the end and nothing really comes together. Soundtrack is pretty good though.

Personally I got some enjoyment out of it but I wouldn't really recommend it.

Thanks! I'll probably watch it once I'll dig through SHAFT's backlog.

One day I'll have the time to do that.

Guile's Theme?

Turned out it was this song from Mario Galaxy 2.

Thanks for the answer though, I guess they're both from games so you got kinda close.

Oh, I read some of of Love Tyrant

it's actually great because one of the main girls is a Yandere, and Yanderes>all

Isn't Senjougahara a yandere?

I read the first chapter of Ippo in it. It's GOTY.

I also made Kiryu figure out how to stop the work computer from playing porn sounds.

Yeah baby, i flipped out when i found the amount of manga they managed to get into the game.

And Haruka's idol part-best Love Live game we'll ever get.

Did you ever wonder what would happen if Nisio wrote Hyouka, genderswapped the leads and mashed in an amnesia gimmick on the side? Or wonder what would happen if a Shaft fanboy decided to take that story and make a live action television show? Wonder no more!

Hosanna spoke about Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku in IRC and on its face, it really seemed like a generic detective show. Heck, this season there's a show about a woman who has her mind wiped and the only clues that she has to her identity are tattoos on her body, so the idea of a detective who loses her memory every time she goes to sleep isn't really that original an idea nowadays.

But The Nisio-isms and the Shaft-isms, which are so dumb to see in live action, are enough to make the first episode a pleasure to watch. The Monogatari-esque relationship between the leads is familiar, a lot of the shots and visual gimmicks are ripped right out of the Shaft playbook, and the cases are about as exciting as Hyouka in that they serve mostly as an excuse to have the leads spend time with each other.

I really don't know who this show is for. The intersection between Nisio fans and drama fans has to be tiny, which makes me wonder why this wasn't turned into an anime instead. But I suppose on the other hand, this is probably the most accessible Nisio story that I've seen - you can show this to your grandmother and don't have to apologize for any of it.

If you fall into the camp of being a Monogatari fan though, you should watch the first episode at the very least. It's a special experience that you would appreciate. lol

I wouldn't call anyone in Monogatari a yandere. Yandere's don't accept other people being in their others life in any role - sometimes even family. Senjougahara is pretty laid back about Araragi hanging out with other people.

MPR's spoiler is pretty much yandere though.

snake wanted
to kill araragi for eternal unrequited
or some shit idk

She wanted to have some massive dramatic conclusion where she kills Senjougahara, Shinobu, Kanbaru and Hanekawa in front of Araragi and then either maim him so badly he could never escape or kill him and keep him in the shrine. She's insane

Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku is Hyouka except a lot more interesting and with Nisio's idiosyncrasies dripping everywhere. I had fun with it, I might end up watching more.

snake wanted
to kill araragi for eternal unrequited love
or some shit idk

Snake had
such a deep-seated and ingrained martyr complex that she willfully fooled HERSELF into thinking she was a victim of the snake god when she initiated everything that happened on her own

That's both impressive and horrifying.

And then everything is solved by manga, because Nisioisin is a damn dirty troll

Okitegami is really good, I've had a lot of fun watching it. And you can definitely see some SHAFT influence in places heh. I also feel that Aragaki Yui and Okada Masaki have really good chemistry.

As much as I would like to tell you otherwise, you've got it pegged right.

But I found the manga pretty funny and genuinely hilarious in some spots so I'm glad it gets animated.

I would have said I was surprised that you're a fan of something like that, but then I remembered you're a Fate fan.

Can Love Tyrant be even called a harem when it's only one girl with the strong feelings for the guy when the rest of girls are clueless idiots?

Yeah, the second episode had more Shaft-isms. It was great. I enjoyed the first two episodes that I watched anyway.

Fafner: Exodus 1 (original TV)

I was curious to see which scenes were added for the extended BD version. And yeah, a lot of good foreshadowing scenes were missing from this. The entire Hawaii battle, and a lot of small character building and interaction moments on the island. Still alright I guess.

The star will always shine the brightest. Did Kirara really not notice an entire fashion show being set up? Come on, it was loud and involved a lot of people. Good old Kirara is always critical of other's imperfections. But she's here to fix everything. Like before, it's her overall attitude that makes her a great character. She doesn't cry like some others would do, but she very much appreciates what they do for her. And thanks to French dude she's still moving up in the world. Interesting that they had the guts to actually move her away eventually, but that will be after the show ends, so eh. It's still something. I look forward to the All Stars movies ignoring it.

Hanasaku Iroha was.. a lot better than I could have ever hoped. I went into it expecting a solid series and left with a new favorite. The ending hit me in the gut like a tiny truck hauling a tiny load of bricks.

It is really good I thought. Thats probably where my PA Works started.

The movie is alright too, depending on your interest in backstories.

The Tokyo arc still scars me. But in retrospect the bondage episode should have been the first warning sign. lol
