Heh, I'm pretty sure that's not the case considering every year there's always a variety of really good anime that air.

OnePunch Man isn't really that unique in that case, but what do I know.

I can't recall an anime in recent seasons that came close to OPM in terms of animation and just looking great consistently. Might just be selective memory on my part of course, but I can't name one right now.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Most of us joked that any OPM adaptation would look worse than Murata's panels and I think Madhouse is really outdoing themselves to prove us wrong.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie

images

Story was neat, well at least for the first two-thirds. The first 3rd deals with Naruto family issues, while the 2nd 3rd deals with the chunnin exams, and the final 3rd is a fight against two villains no one cares about.

In terms of characterization, Naruto is a busybody father who only sends shitty clones to his daughter's birthday party. Boruto is a cheating brat who brings disgrace to his family, but only because he feels neglected due to Naruto having zero idea how to talk to his children. Sarada's cool, but barely in the movie, same with Mitsuki (the weird guy with blue hair). Technology has jumped up to early 2000 level of tech in the course of 10 years. The women in the series continue to do nothing. And the last 3rd only exists so we can have a cool fight scene with two faceless baddies vs all the kages + Sasuke and even Boruto. Hinata was surprisingly okay with Sasuke taking her son to fight a bad guy that leveled part of the city and was on par with Naruto in terms of the strength. The moral of the story is that cheaters never win and training/talent is superior.

The animation was amazing. The last 3rd of the movie is some of the best fighting animation I've seen from the series and a lot of anime movies in general. Beat the ever loving shit out of Resurrection F's animation. This movie gave me more of a nostalgia trip than Resurrection F did, so I might be a little bias.

All and all, the movie was fun. Easily the best Naruto movie I've seen (only seen the first movie, The Last, and this one) and probably the best Shounen Jump movie I've seen (only seen Battle of the Gods, Resurrection F, that One Piece Alibasta arc remake, and the Naruto movies mentioned above).

8/10

Wouldn't mind seeing more of Boruto's adventures if they're as good as this was. Also fucking lol at the end credits scene.

Ninja Slayer EP 26 END
Awesome. Imo that was worthy of a final fight. But with all those loose plotlines, the main question is:
Season 2 when!?

10/10, one of the best shows this year.

One Punch Man 02

Another great episode, nailed the comedy bits and it seems like the animation will keep up. Although it was the joke, Genos' exposition went on for too long. It would have been fine if it kept showing clever things like Saitama shaking his leg.

Gundam IBO 02

The "BREASTS ARE SOFT, NOT HARD LIKE THIS COCKPIT" line made me choke on my food. Solid episode, but I hope the next episode will really impress. Although this has seemingly surpassed expectations after G Reco and Try + Okada on the team, reactions seem positive.

Barbatos is a really slick design.

Going to watch Rahxephon as one of the fall show I am going through right now. Was wondering which is better, the dub or the sub for this show.

Space Dandy. Which makes sense, since it's the same director and many of the same animators.

Also, while One Punch Man has the superior animation, I prefer the overall look of Osomatsu-san this season.

Comet Lucifer 02

Felia is cute. And prison scene reminded me of L-Elf. Still curious about where the military stuff is going to go, but everything is alright so far.

WHAT? Why!? She's literally twice as cool as Boruto!

Mostly because she got a side manga to herself which dealt with her finding her "real" mom and her coming to terms with her deadbeat dad, which Boruto was barely in. They got all her character development out of the way in advance. Maybe well get that side manga animated one day.

Outside of action scenes the animation is quite mediocre. But that's most likely the animation team saving the budget only for action scenes which is why there is quite a big difference between scenes that lack action in it. Which is a very smart decision considering they can't put lots of budget into everything.

However, the background art in my opinion is pretty dull and lacks any life in it. I don't know if it's the abundance of filter or just the dull color.

It was decent overall but I'm hoping some kind of plot is established soon as nothing big happened to our cast besides saving the girl. The mech battles were impressive even if it is CG.

I liked how chill sarada and sasuke's conversation(s?) were

Yeah, her character development from her side manga was left in tact, which I appreciated.

I'm still mad the we don't know who Rock Lee had a child with.

One Punch Man 02

Read the manga last week (including the original), so I knew what to expect, but still enjoyed myself. The action continues to be amazing and the comedy is on point. Hopefully the animation quality continues to be this high 7 or so episodes from now.

MEGATON AS EXPECTED OF THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN

Well, Battle of Gods is over. Looks like the next episode is going to go to some weird (amazing?) places.

Looks like its a filler arc where Hercule shoots a movie about Battle of Gods except he was the one to fight Beerus and save the Earth LOL

Hercule getting focus? I'm down for this! Hercules is the best!

Remember his awesome fight against Cell?

HOLY SHIT.

Kyoto Animation to Produce A Silent Voice Film With Director Naoko Yamada

Plot synopsis said:
I wish we had never met. I wish we could meet once again. A boy who can hear, Shoya Ishida, and a transfer student who can't, Shoko Nishimiya. One fateful day, the two meet, and Shoya leads the class in bullying Shoko. But before long, the class shifts its target from Shoko to Shoya. Years later, Shoya feels strongly that he must see Shoko once again.

What a great choice for animation studio. The sign language will be spot on then. The manga was great (until the ending). Looking forward to this.

Never watched anything by the director. Is he any good?

EDIT: Oh, it got posted like 12 hours ago here. Nevermind.

So I just learned that the american dub of DBZ changed the name of Mr. Satan to Hercules. Gotta protect the innocence of the American children!

Well I mean, you're pretty much always gonna crank up the animation in the high octane scenes. That's probably true for any anime. Though OPM has had an insane amount of action with incredibly high quality animation so far.

But It's not like the visual quality just goes to shit when there's not an action scene going on. The character details and shading are still good.

As for background art and it being dull. I can see how you would say that. Though personally that's not really something I see as a negative. In fact I really really like the color use in OPM, both for character and backgrounds, it's kind of subdued compared to a lot of anime. And imo combined with the animation and overall great detail, it works really well.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans 2:
Still a good show. I"m actually impressed. It would be really nice if it can keep this up.

This wasn't quite as strong of an episode as the first one, but it was still a good one. The writing remains solid, and I think I have a better handle on some of the characters after this episode. So far we're mostly getting fairly typical stock scenes and character types, but the heavy focus on the child soldiers and generally mature tone is helping to carry what has been fairly typical in the story department. There's definitely a lot of potential here.

How well would you all rate Haikyuu and Noragami?

Might check out season 1 for both.

Haikyuu is fantastic. One of the best sport anime out there. Noragami is pretty good. Hard for me to say more than that because the first season barely got into anything. I like the characters and I want to see more of it.

Haikyuu is really great

Noragami is pretty great, but it's not for everyone.

That said, the male lead in Noragami, Yato, is amazing.

Cheers. Definite yes on Haikyuu then. I've always had the idea in my head to one day check out a good sports anime.

I notice that Noragami is BONES so will make the wise decision and see how that unfolds :p

OPM - 02

Enjoyed this a bit more than the first episode though it's forgettable story-wise yet. Guess I could just appreciate it for the animation quality and solid humor here and there.

Gotta say though, those overly long scenery shots during Genos' backstory stood out real badly, especially contrasted with the high animation quality otherwise. I would've liked to see actual animation of that backstory. But yeh, production cost and scheduling is apparent even in OPM.

Lots of superb animation was a joy of course. I'm still not fond of the overall art direction though.

Literally all of that was a single joke panel in the manga where you can skip reading the gigantic text bubble. They could have speed up his speech which would have been slightly more comedic but maybe more annoying. Saitama will hopefully get more chances in showing his annoyance of long speeches.

Extremely popular series to receive more material? Woah!

:re is pretty boring anyway and i struggle to even read the manga so I won't even watch this

Yeah, what they did was fine until they just did still frames of the background.

As a Saber fan this is the best ending for Saber so it's perfect. Wish they had some scenes with the three of them together in London but as a bonus for the BD it is fine. Rin's harem continues to grow!

One Punch Man 02

Not only is this show some of the funniest shit I've ever seen, it is also some of the greatest animation porn out this season. Dear lord how can one episode be so funny yet as hype inducing as this? You guys weren't kidding about OPM being great. This episode was even better than last week's.

I wouldn't be against an adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul Re, as long as they stuck to the source material.
