I agree, I was so accustomed to the fast pace, that that slow moment with Myu actually threw me off guard. They seem to be extremely creative with the direction of the show and while it works well sometimes like in episode 9 with the dark hallways and the first person view, this episode it wasn't good at all and made some scenes look really weird.

I mean I am a pretty big fan of the show and I accept some of the bad stuff it does sometimes, but this time it was pretty intense.

Yup there it is. I was actually quite on board with the show, putting some faults aside. I was looking forward to this week's episode since it seemed to be the one in which a brand new dynamic is introduced. Then this happened lol. Imagine all of those Twitter shots in motion. I'm feeling sick just thinking about it.

Truly the mobile game about bishonen I was wanting a localisation of.

So we can strike instrument fetish from your list?

I mean, I have my quirks, Anno's fascination with electrical poles for one will always put a stupid grin on my face as does a lot of the mechanical porn in Eva (or in general), but I can't say that I have an affinity towards instruments. I won't knock it tho!

By the way will the AOTY thread begin the second these shows end?

It was towards the end of Jan. so people could binge watch last minute series last year.

who knows if cornbread will even allow it!
It'd be a disservice to the community if he did.

Well, I already said the decision will not be mine. I don't think it should be my choice just because I put a thread together for everyone to vote in.

Regardless, a decision needs to be made in the next couple weeks on how we threat the puppet show going into voting; is it anime? You guys tell me, but I think we should do one of the below:

1)Let the community mods decide, specifically, Ducky and Xia since they are "active" in the community. Seda could act as the tie breaker as the Toonami head.
2)Silent Community vote in the next couple weeks to determine if it should be included or not.

I'm not too concered about it either way and I just want everyone (ok, at least the majority of) to be happy with the decision that is reached.

Personally, I would not include a puppet show in an "anime" of the year award; it's like nominating American Sniper for a Tony award.

Let the puppets in the vote, I mean it's on CR's anime list no?

If the puppets are out those that means that shelter is out too? that would be dumb.

I mean...does anyone here actually oppose the idea of having thunderbolt fantasy in the AOTY vote?

Voting thread usually goes up at the beginning of January so people can actually see what's worth watching/voting for. Waiting until the end turns it into an afterthought that people will just slap whatever they watched down as "the best." Also asking people for their input just because their names are red seems like a bad idea if they haven't watched the show in question. Silent community vote is awful too as voting can be abused. Best to either openly discuss it before if there's complaints or just let democracy run its course, let people vote for it, and let it succeed or fail on its own merit.

that's what the republicans said

wait no that's what the democrats said

when you quote me, quote whichever one is the dankest

Glad RWBY is finally eligible for anime of the year.

I mean it has a manga, I don't really see the problem with having RWBY in the AOTY vote.

Let's just keep it reasonable, I don't think it's that hard really.

Your right, my bad.

Hey discuss away, it's really up to everyone. I just don't want discourse about it later, like the Blood & Wine DLC winning RPG of the year, lol.

That was super dumb tho, these gamers are crazy!

Yeah, I do. Just as I oppose finding dory or ice fantasy being eligible.

Meh I don't know about Thunderbolt Fantasy. I think it would just be better giving it a honorable mention or such.

I still wouldn't count RWBY. Even if it on Crunchyroll and has a manga, it still is an american show, so eeeeeeeeh.

Well then...and here I thought it was going to be relatively easy to decide. We will have to establish a Cornbread dictatorship and have him force his
evil
opinion on animegaf.

Mob Psycho 100 3
Appreciated how the telepathy discussion brought forth by Mob led into Reigen and the cult member being able to read him so easily. Also wasn't entirely into it until I realized the ep was bookended with Mob's desire to join the collective to find happiness and his subsequent inability to do so. Reigen's comment that Mob had done something only he could have done seemed like a common sense observation but going from mentor to protege, it's a strong compliment that lets that 0% feel as earned as the earlier 100% given Mob's individuality was validated by the man he looked up to.

People talking about letting Thunderbolt Fantasy in are joking.

I mean personally I really don't care because I'm not voting for it, but I think having it in the voting would be totally fair, RWBY too to be honest. People would vote for these no? If it wins then that means it actually won it's place fair and square. If people are actually joking, then Thunderbolt fantasy gets in and either people don't vote for it or the joking individuals lose a vote on it.

Why don't we let Westworld and FF15 in on the voting too? Maybe we can vote Trails of Cold Steel 2 as our anime of the year.

I don't actually get your comment, when did I say that lol? I mean RWBY and Thunderbolt fantasy are in CR's anime section, so it's easy to make a case for them. You just straight trash talked, while naming stuff that clearly wouldn't count.

Also technically, FFXV could count, it does have an anime.

I mean, I'm not joking on my end given the rather unique situation it's in, how it's one of the best things this year, and given how the AOTY lists are used as reference guides by others after the voting is done. If it wasn't as good as it was, I wouldn't really have all that strong of an opinion about it either but given how complete of a work it was, I don't necessarily see how larger exposure via the community could be a bad thing.nor do I think it'd be all that controversial for a forum community award unless it managed to bump a favorite down a notch if it landed at #1 or #10.

I'm not trash talking, I'm bringing up other titles that are as equally not applicable to the vote in question.

I think it's dumb to arbitrarily change the rules to allow pet favorites (or to exclude things you don't like).

That's my stance on it as well. If the point is supposed to be a reference guide then I think it's valuable to have TF up for voting.

Nah I think I would count your post as trash talking, as I am trying to make a legitimate point with logical reason and you just come in and go *lol no why don't we also add those completely random show too*.

I mean, like I say I don't really care, so if you guys don't want to, go ahead, that just give more chances for my own favorites to make the AOTY list.

I made a point and it wasn't harsh at all. Calling it trash talking is pretty strange.

Ok trash talking was maybe a little harsh, so how about you just dismissed my argument with completely illogical counter arguments?

Your original argument was a borderline nonsensical argument that people should be able to vote for anything for Anime of the Year, regardless of whether or not it was anime.

At that point, what is even the point of having an Anime of the Year vote, if people can vote for things that aren't anime?

My god, why are you getting so defensive over a tame counterpoint?

I am not, I'm just saying it did not fit and I did say my trash comment was going too far. Let's just move along at this point alright.

Alright alright I get it. You guys don't want puppets and RWBY. I thought that being classified as anime by an anime site was enough, but I was wrong.

Sengoku Basara S2 8

The character drama involving Yukimura and Hideyoshi/Keiji is actually rather compelling. Oda and his motley crew had an entertaining ham factor, but Hideyoshi and Hanbei are fundamentally more interesting as villain characters since there's more going on with them than "I like killing people because I'm evil."

NTR On Ice 8-9
You can tell how much love the staff has for the sport but there's also so much wasted time on these side characters instead of focusing on the core group. The way I would describe the show is undisciplined which while fun in some aspects, it's also not as focused as I would like it on the characters.

You can also tell the animators just flat out give up or collapsed in certain segments of the skating.

Now that was something. Seriously, the show just got
Cranberry
killed and also gave us
Tama's
flashback after she was inflicted a fatal wound rather than before, which helped highlight how dumb these pre-mortem flashbacks are as a device to try and make the audience give a damn about the show's paper-thin characters.

The best part is the final boss is basically an underaged girl whose immaturity has resulted in a scary lack of morals, all while the rest of the cast, who weren't amazing but still managed to be more interesting than her, are all dead.

I'd like to think that Monobag decided to turn on its master because she wouldn't bother to read the game master's manual because she had some homework to do. By the way, she was practicing the kanji 友, which means friend/pal (wow, so deep!).

I'm going to say the answer to why they would spend so much time on side characters is that they love ice skaters more than they love ice skating.

Aikatsu Stars 35

More rainbow cancer angst. I feel like I'm watching Wixoss or Magical Girl Raising Project. I thought Aikatsu was supposed to be the fluffiest of idol shows. I don't think they ever gave a good explanation on why Hime or Moroboshi didn't tell Yume about her rainbow cancer a dozen episodes or so ago. Laura at least is acting sane and isn't pretending Yume's earlier victories didn't count because even if it is a special power it is an inherent ability Yume has. Moroboshi already has one success story in suppressing rainbow powers in Hime, so I don't get why he's trying to act all sinister about it this time.
