Pretty solid casting choices. Even if they could have had today's tech, though, the 90s were such a different era for movies, the end result would probably still be worse than what we actually got a decade later. I'm not particularly fond of the MCU and I've seen just a bunch of their movies, but thinking back to 90s superhero movies... *shudders*
