Read today's Magneto tie-in and it felt like it was delayed and should have come out weeks ago at the end of the first arc.

Was this the issue with Doom and Valeria?

it was one of the ones with doom and valeria. Doom is barely in this one, it's almost all a valeria issue, and it's great.

This is the last time you will hear me refer to anything about axis as "great."

Nah we still get to see Wanda's army vs the f listers. Also are you not reading Carnage mini? Shit is great.

the character doesn't do anything for me, so I'm skipping it. Generally with events I tend to ignore tie-in books, and it's usually the best call.

heard hobgoblin was fun, but there are only so many hours in the day.

The big deal is AXIS is really Rick Remender doing a big meta commentary. How the x fans have went all isolationist, how hulk writers been making edgier hulk personas and so forth including how nuNova is so great when he isn't.

I'm reading Hobgoblin and Carnage. Hobgoblin has been interesting. I won't have the second issue of Carnage until tomorrow night, but I really liked the first.

That is actually a good way of looking at it.

Of course he's lying. There are three constants in life. Death, Taxes, and AXIS being hot garbage.

Why is teen jean inverted? when did this happen? the O5 were in the ultimate universe when genosha happened, or if they weren't they never appeared on the island.

Jean was on Genosha but she was the only member of the O5 I remember being there.

I had to hunt for this one to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Jean shows up for one panel in Axis #1 when the X-men arrive.

She's ENTIRELY absent from Axis 002 and Axis 003- doesn't even appear in the cast listing. Shows up again in Axis 004 standing around on stage.

None of the other O5 show up here, which is...???

Is anyone still reading this? I thought the last issue was much better than previous fare, then again I'm a complete sucker for Old Man Rogers.

Fear Itself tho.

Fear Itself had some good tie-ins at least. Everything about this event's tie-ins centres on the main ~good is bad and bad is good~ gimmick that is just all around embarrassing. Like, a 4 year old could have come up with this whole event and probably had less gaping plot holes.

I am sadly still reading this.

I did post in another thread that I thought the last issue (Axis 8) was actually a good read. things seem to be heading towards a plausible end game, there are some neat cameos, and that last page was just amazing.

I'm trying to get slayven to read it but he's not biting.

Overall I'm on the fence if this one is worse than fear itself, but it's definitely down there. I guess it depends on how the last issue goes.

Axis has some great tie-ins. The tie-ins are the only reason to keep going. Both events had writers pulling blood from a stone. Fear Itself's premise was no less embarrassing.

Yeah I don't know where that came from, but I liked it. I'm glad he's back.

I'm somewhere between "curious" and "mad" because I can't find anything that says that particular plot point was set up in any side issues. it just happened.

doom brought stature back in avengers world with some of scarlet witch's power
but where on earth did he have the time and resources to
make a deal with some devil, and bring bother voodoo back to life for this

it's either hidden somewhere in the hobgoblin and carnage books, or totally out of someone's ass

It's not hidden in those books, no. They're both very self-contained.

Apparently you can bring people back to life if you know the right people in the underworld or something. The fact that nobody brought him back until now tho, lol.....

I might actually lose my mind if the only explanation we ever get is that one sentence from Doom.

this is why I said I'm somewhere in between "curious" and "angry".

I think you might be right though. "Oh, yeah, me and the devil are bros, that's the explanation".

edit: and yeah, avengers world doesn't mention this at all- which is odd, because one could substitute
brother voodoo for stature
in that last panel or so and things would make perfect sense, but they didn't!

jesus christ.

That said, I can remember the retcons, in the sense that they happen because that’s the point. We’re not reading a story, we’re reading a checkpoint of where Marvel needs to be in 2015, bookended by absolute nonsense that Remender’s testing Marvel with to see if they even notice what they’re publishing. They haven’t.

Final Final Verdict: Purple. This comic doesn’t matter and neither does this review. Or anything really. I looked into the mirror this morning and found nothing.

It's official, this event is worse than Fear Itself.

Edit: people thought I was just a hater, but I am a Prophet and LO, Axis doth sucketh something fierce! Look on Marvel's works ye mighty and despair

It sucks that this event is being derailed by having to devote plot points to setting up Marvel's 20-15 status quo. Well, that and the premise being pretty stupid. But Axis is better than Fear Itself because Remender is at least having fun writing some entertaining scenes. I mean yes, it is weird that Brother Voodoo's return is basically an afterthought while Southern Carnage gets a several pages. But that's probably because Marvel is making Remender put things in, which is messing with the flow of the series. Now, Remender should be doing a better job smoothing all these things out to make for a good event/read, but like all event writers he apparently just said F it.

Considering Remender wrote Dr Voodoo's quickly cancelled solo series and he's including him on the new Uncanny Avengers team, I assume bringing Voodoo back was his choice.

The Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver retcon is the only thing which has struck me as editorially mandated.

see, what doesn't make sense for me here is that obviously solving the Wanda problem couldn't be an "afterthought", because it's so central to the series.

yet that solution is the absolutely most literal deus ex machina one could think up, with absolutely no foundation laid for how it's possible other than "I made this deal with this god I know off panel when no one was looking."

how did this even get past editorial?

It all depends on that last issue. Cap in his armor might just push it over. Barely.
.

If they manage to sneak in NFL superpro in the next issue, marvel can have ALL my money. ALL OF IT

I'll just quote the next line from that article...

… yeah I’d rather have Country Carnage too.

Amen brother.

Do you guys really think a few paragraphs of exposition and a page of flashback is what was needed at this point in the event so we know exactly how this character is back? I couldn't give two shits. He's awesome, he's back, hooray! The end.

I mean it's a pretty safe bet we'll be revisiting this "Faustian pact," do we need details right this second? Do you really want those details in batshit Axis-speak, or would you rather have them explored in Uncanny Avengers when Remender comes back to his senses?

my big issue is that it's absolute nonsense when we look at what happened in Avengers World #16.
