Looking at the video reviews, it strucks me just how ugly the game looks aesthetically in all its aspects.

It is such a clear contrast to KCD2 - where KCD2 is an example of clear insane talent combined with hard work, Avowed is a clear example of insane anti-talent combined with hard work.

Anyway, since it is in gamepass I will give it a chance, but my enthusiasm dropped quite a bit.

It did sometimes. Skill Up did, for instance - indirect reference ("HR in the room"). So did Matty, to some extent.

You also had the woke-detector Youtubers, all ganging up on it. Some of those are in the extremist/nutjob category, but some are not.

I've yet to see any of that with Avowed. Maybe it's out there. I have just skimmed the summaries here. I still need to listen to Matty and Luke's reviews. Haven't heard from Skill Up yet. Nor have I checked the woke-detector type channels. So it could be out there, but I haven't seen it yet. Feel free to post anything that concerns you.

I disagree with your assessment of Obsidian as a whole, but I think it's very clear that the change in artstyle coincided with Microsoft buying the Elder Scrolls publisher.

You can easily see Todd Howard bitching about that initial trailer to Phil Spencer or Matt Booty.

It’s also not an ideal analogue for Avowed since it was made in much less time, with a much smaller budget and in a rushed development cycle. Not an exact comparison to a bigger budget game Obsidian claims has the longest ever optimization and polish period of any game they’ve ever made.

Agreed it's crazy. What I will say is there are so many amazing games these days I can understand waiting on this one while playing games that have scored higher or are just better in general.

I predicted 80-84 in the poll thread. Finally a game I got it right!

ACG and Skill Up are who I tend to align most with. No Skill Up yet, but ACG at best seems to have me drifted towards burning through the main story in 20~ hours that probably being it. Likely no side content. Outer Worlds I enjoyed the first 10~ hours and progressively got more and more bored. The reviews for this so far seem more in line with that.

- Dungeons are boring and repetitive
- Zone 3/4 there is a powerlevel jump and enemies become pretty annoying to fight
- Drop in quality in the later half of the game like Outer Worlds
- Mundane dialogues
- AI enemy types are repetitive and simplistic

Not disagreeing with you about the price of games, but haven't all "special editions" cost more money than the base game?
As a canadian, ive been paying for 100 base games for about like 2/3 year now it feels- at one point games used to be 69.99 here.
