Bad business decisions this gen?

I dunno, it took them almost three years to remake a game they'd just finished.
That's true, but they had to redo the code AND the graphics AND the music for that. (but three years was still too much.) With PD going to Xbox, it should have been just redoing the code to work with the Xbox and maybe adding a bit more detail to the graphics.

Everything I've read about PD0 made it seem like the title was very close to being released by end of '04 for XBOX. Take away the time it took to resettle and restructure for XBOX and I think it's more than reasonable that GC would've had PD0, Kameo, GbtG, the Conker remake, and perhaps more before this day...in a time when the GC is in pretty bad shape, as far as exclusive titles to fill out its schedule. It's pretty dead on the GC until Zelda: TTP...and then it's really dead. And let's face it...many, many people bought a GC, at least in part, for the promise of Rare games.

Rare may have put out a few not-so-hot titles, but their absence from Nintendo's lineup of games now and in the future is felt, IMO. Rare helped Nintendo in a way that no one else has...help fill out their lineup with exclusive, quality games that reflect Nintendo's craftsmanship...most of the time, anyway. By having Rare there, Nintendo could have more breathing room to give their own titles more time and give their platforms more title diversity.

7. Bringing FFX2 to NA

That was a bad business decision or poor handling of the Final Fantasy name to you? I was under the impression that Final Fantasy X-2 sold reasonably well.

Yep, despite the hate it gets it sold 1.4m in the US.

This year alone, Namco teams have produced 5 GameCube games, all exclusives too. That number rises to 6 if you count TriForce.

What are the 5 games?? Hello Kitty Roller rescue, maybe???
Also triforce board doens't count. If you count Triforce games for Gamecube, then have to count all the Chiro board games for the x-box. I don't.

Also.if you are counting Star Fox Assualt and Sonley Kong Jungle beat among the 5 games..that is work for hire. Nintendo Published those games not namco.

You mean Donkey Konga? Jungle Beat is made internally at EAD Tokyo.

What happened in the Mario Sunshine commercials? I didn't have cable back then so I never saw them.

I don't think you can characterize the Xbox itself as a poor business decision. MS went through with it knowing they would lose money; they accepted this because they have so much cash on hand they can afford to lose billions now in an effort to make more billions later. I'm sure you could find fault with some of the individual decisions that made the losses greater (some people have identified those in this thread), but it's too early to call the Xbox itself a bad business decision. The satellie radio companies are doing the same thing right now.

For most companies it would be catastrophic, but Microsoft is in its own class and plays by its own rules.

I will give you Pac-man world 3 ( not esclusive like you cliamed), and Baten Kaitos 2, byut not Star folk Assulat, Donkey Konga 3, and Mario Superstar baseball. The last 3 are in reality Nintendo games not namco games. Namco may have developed the games for Nintendo, but it was work for hire. It is not the same thing as using Namco's own IPs

Doesn't matter, these are still GameCube games made by Namco. Namco hasn't at all slowed their GameCube development, unlike SEGA. That's the reality.
