Banjo-Threeie Debut Trailer!

This looks like a whining convention.

EVERYBODY says the game looks fun, yet you all just want an HD Banjo 1 to jump around in. This is reason why games don't evolve. First, people complain that they change the game too little, but when they do a massive shift, they do too much. All previews are glowing. Banjo has returned in a great way and all you all are thinking is about how you can't spin jump to get notes. That's sad.

You can't expect everyone to like the new game. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts And Bolts is nothing like the original Banjo Kazooie games that people have enjoyed. Change isn't always necessary and isn't always good. I for one do not like what the game has turned into and I won't be buying it. Everything I liked about Banjo Kazooie has been stripped from this new game. I see no reason to even bother with it.

What exactly does Twisted Metal Black say? Spyro: Year of the Dragon? Super Mario World? All are very clearly direct sequels, and none have a number, though they're given a subtitle.

Well, I've only played Super Mario World, but it gives me the impression that Mario is expanding into lands beyond the original 3 games, which is precisely what he does. Different kingdoms, star worlds, more fantastic enemies and surroundings.

I would guess Spyro: Year of the Dragon is some reference to an event or occurrence within the game.

Twisted Metal Black is perhaps a darker tone, maybe some reference to that evil clown thing.

Again, there are many different reasons for naming a game something.

Love it. Free from the shackles of terrible music, this video delivers the goods.

I am nitpicking here, but the sound effects were bad, just not as bad as the music from the other trailer.

and I hope they do let you make mech suits or or something similar.

Oh yes you did with GTA IV. And Halo 3. And Nintendo isn't invincible, Zelda:TP took shit for reviving its' basic formula as well.
Regardless, fans come back to familiar franchises largely for more of the same. With each sequel it's the developer's job to improve on aspects and throw in innovative new features while keeping the same core gameplay intact. Nuts and Bolts seems to be shifting focus too much over to playing with vehicles, which isn't what the Banjo games were ever about.

I think it will be fun, but it's not really the same game.

HK-47 said:
No since according to Crushed, vehicles are just like Kazooie's moves. Flying? Its there. High jump? There.

You people cant even shill a consistant argument
Yes, the whole customization and whenever you want and no temporary time limit and not needing a pad, that's all totally irrelevant.

You do realise this is not the official GTAIV thread?

It are joke.

I've become so confused with all the damn BK threads the past few days, but someone said it looked like GTA somewhere.

Crushed said:
Yes, because this is a kart racer.

Now I understand. You're blind, and you listened to the sound of cars in the trailer and assumed it was a racing game. Now the man who helps you use a computer found some pictures for you.

This part really killed me.

This is really all there is to it. I can't believe anyone can look at that gameplay and try to say that it is at all like the old games.

It's much more like a sandbox than anything.

WHICH IS OKAY!

But people gotta stop hating on others who wanted "just another B-K."

Whoa people are hating this game WAY too soon... :lol :lol

It´s kinda disheartning when the GS preview says there will be multiplayer races, but we know very little of the Single-player mode.

EDit: acording to the interview Kazooie moves were removed...

lol. this is ridiculos. To the people stating if this was a more traditional Banjo game it would still get the same hate: stop making some sort of damage control because people fel adverse to this change in direction. I can honestly say i would be prasing this game had it stayed a plataformer at core. What i SEE in this footage DOES NOT cater to my plataforming tastes. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. and this series is one of my most beloved in the genere.

taking this to an extreme, its like if Konami decided Metal Gear should be a point and click adventure game and fans of stealth games didnt aprove of the change for the given series. ITS FUCKING LOGICAL.

Now, this game may be great and fun. But a plataformer its not. And thus, im disappointed.

Jesus this thread is fucked up. Anyway, I am excited for Banjo3 for one main reason:

In Banjo Kazooie, you encountered a place you couldn't reach, and what did you do? You just had to find Bottles for he always gave you anything you needed to reach the place.
i.e. boots, running shoes etc.
This is not rewarding.

In Banjo3, you encounter a place you cannot reach, now you imagine how you could reach it, then find an appropriate mod for your vehicle, then build it by yourself.
Imagine a closing gate which you have to reach in a certain amount of time: instead of slipping in your running shoes and passing it you mod your vehicle so that you can pass it, but there are different ways to mod it and reach the gate in the given time so that you might pass it with a vehicle utterly different from another player's vehicle. You might use a kart, another player might use a jet.
This is rewarding.

Rare tries to innovate their franchise, so shut your flapping mouths and watch them.

So if I turn 180 degrees, then turn 180 degrees again... aren't I back where I started?

I'm usually very lucid and deft when posting, but this thread has hit a nerve.

It's all good fun though, right?
Crushed isn't having fun though. :(

I've never seen him so super-cereal. :(

Watch the new video. And remember all the gameplay elements of the first two games.

No. But they're not the same, either.

Unlike Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie is an action-adventure game with platforming elements.

Dear god. This defense is heartwarming. Defend the new Banjo even if we have to twist the reality of the old ones!

"Reality" is not "Something that people made up way back then to call B-K a Mario ripoff."

1. Watch the new video.
2. There's a lot of people on this board who hate on anything with Rare's name attatched to it, so it's not "ridiculos" or damage control to say that some of the same people who are complaining now would be complaining if this was BK HD.
3. Watch the new video.

It's an interesting idea, but this doesn't look like a game I'd want to play.

Also, the part with shooting the head off of Mario is just stupid, trying too hard and trolling for blog posts, seeing how it's barely a platform game at all.

Looking at this pic, with all those ramps and stuff, this could be pretty awesome actually :)

No, they don't because they're being stupid.

LOOK AT THE NEW VIDEO.

This has hit a nerve as well. I've always been a defender of their games. For as long as I've had a job, I've bought all of their console games on launch day. I don't even recognize half these people from the various Banjo threads that have popped up in the past. I see platforming and fun when I look at the vids. Most importantly, I see BK3. BK HD would have honestly been BK 2.5 because it would have stuck would an outdated model. Would I have purchased it, hell yeah, but still, people should not be angry to see that they are trying something new. What if this does turn out to be the new standard bearer in platforming? You never know.

That kotaku video didn't really show any bird/bear moves. Yes, you can get out on foot and climb poles (which is good about the pole climbing, as it didn't look like you'd be able to climb the trees we've seen so far so I thought that might have got removed as well), but again that's just the hub, and that's just to collect notes to buy blueprints to build vehicles, and probably 1/10th or so of the jiggys.

Crushed said:

The game was set in a 3D overworld with a single (duo) character with a limited moveset and the objective to have a hub world connect to different levels through pictures on the walls unlocked by stars jiggies.

It was very much like Mario, stop with the revisionism.

What if we've played the other BK to death and want something brand new but true to BK? Nothing wrong with wanting that.

There's room for creativity- nobody is against creativity so much as Rare tossing out key features that make the series appealing in the first place.

And like many have suggested, this could have been a new IP or a spin-off. Mind you I'll still be getting this because I think it has potential - it's just not what I wanted. Change can be good, but it can also be bad.

Thank you. This is what Mario Galazy did and it worked great. Banjo could have done this too, and been great. People seem to thing innovation means adding things. No it can also mean reinventing existing things. Why not have Kazooie fly anytime instead of using a pad or having to fucking build a plane

The initial trailer didn't give me much hope. I really didn't like the overemphasis on the vehicles, as they seemed to detract from the actual platforming.

The new video is more promising. If Rare can strike a balance between on-foot platforming and the vehicles, then this game might just work.

Personally, I'm not going to decisively judge the game based on a handful of teasers and screenshots. Let's see where Rare is going with this first.
