Wow, he seriously got banned?

Got some effed up mods here.
sssh don't wanna get banned too do yah?

anyway about this game i have never played any of the previous ones so i have no attachment to them. This however looks pretty damn cool.

He has to mean the blueprint room/chop shop place..because the latest gameplay video clearly shows vehicle editing on the fly w/ instant results.

yeah, but I am questioning which one is apparently not as fast and fun. I don't think the chop shop stuff really matters if it is slow (and they clearly sped it up in the video), but if it is the ingame stuff we saw when they put to hovercraft back together, that is a problem. The video did show that part to be really simple without issue, so I just assume it is the chop shop or whatever.

I think as the dust settles, and especially after they get to play the inevitable demo they will come to love this game like they loved Crackdown. I'm getting the same effin vibe already, just messing around completing goals.

late by a couple pages because this thread moved so fast.

Crushed gets banned for defending a game in a non-inflammatory language(at least by his last few posts) while duckroll craps all over the too human thread with impunity? What is this, bizarro world?

This is the only site I have been on where they ban someone and not comment on the ban. Seems suspicious. Especailly after the fight in the game informer thread (where I think the mod was wrong but oh well.) I saw nothing in this thread ban worthy.

The game looks great, there are the usual suspects slammingi t of course. BUt to me it looks fun.

From the interview it basicly sounds like:

Banjo = Banjo + Freedom + Lego

I can definately get excited for that.

Yeah, that's the weird thing about Garnett's impressions. It's like, "Yeah, Erector Sets are about as popular as mud. Meanwhile Legos are as popular as ever, and Bionicles are still a huge draw to kids."

They comment on the ban - to the person being banned, on their ban message. It is not important that you see the reason for the ban.

it's always so binary with you people.

Do you know if Garnett actually played the game or was just shown the game? This seems like a game you need to play to fully grasp kind of like LBP, just my opinion though.

Please, since you really care, do read the interview. It's with the guy that invented Banjo in the first place, after all.

Man, he sure did call that.

How do you think the Banjo hardcore will react to the changes?

Mayles: I think the generation of players that have played Banjo before are probably going to be shocked to start with. They're probably going to look at it and say, 'Hang on a sec, this isn't the Banjo I was expecting. What have you done? You've ruined it!'

But then hopefully, in a very short space of time, they'll be able to see what we've done and like it. You're never going to be able to change people's opinions of the old games and how they felt at the time. Obviously you're going to get a certain amount of rose-tinted glasses looking back on the old game being this wonderful masterpiece and nothing was ever wrong with it.

Man he so called it. But, I think this gives them time to do some things with some of the feedback in that regards as well, both positive and negative.

No they didn't play it.
They were given a brief demonstration.

Personally, from what I saw, I didn't expect it to be that fast and easy. I'm hoping there'll be some thought necessary and you'll actually be considering the best place to put things and how to tackle things.

It seems like they're taking the same approach as the "split" Viva Pinata 2. There's the accessible version of the game where you can play with only premade contraptions, or you can do it your own way and really mess around with stuff.

You missed the part where he went ballistic because someone showed footage of getting a secret egg in BK1 even though 'such a thing couldn't happen'. And he was making fun of people for 'not knowing anything about BK'.

He just needed a break. Let it be.

I always get a witty remark and typically remain relatively clueless as to why I was banned :/

Gawd i'm loving the vehicle segment, its like the spore for vehicles. This kind of user-modification gameplay reminds me they need to make a next-gen EVO. : /

When GoW2 trailer was unveiled, people were bitching that epic did not innovate the gameplay ,and now that Banjo does , people still bitch. sigh.

God damn it. The vehicles really ruin the look of the game. Otherwise, it looks like the best console game technically.

not to go all Crushed on you, but how exactly do the vehicles ruin what the game is doing technically?

i've seen some of your ban messages, if you don't get why you're banned you're probably not thinking about it very hard :P

I have a relatively broad idea of what I was banned for but it's a tad bit difficult when you make dozens of comments in a single thread :P

I remember one of mine. Although I think it's been close to a year now since the last. Something like, slow it down a bit, hehe.

I'm glad Rare didn't stop making changes.

Some of old fans are seriously acting retarded now. Rare should relaunch old Banjo games with HD texture pack on XBLA. May be that is what they want anyway. Good opportunity for MS/Rare to make quick bucks.

Personally, I think it looks like a blast. Regardless of what people might have expected, the graphics are gorgeous, the vehicles look like fun, and the world looks interesting. Maybe not the game you wanted, but it looks like a great game anyway.

I think I got banned for saying Sony PR (Or any PR for that matter) cannot be trusted:(

That sounds fantastic. Everybody should read this preview before postings bs.

EVeryone that has played the game has loved it. That is where a lot of my excitement comes from.

I don't want to start an LBP vs Banjo thing in here, but I would like to point out that LBP started the love fest from a gameplay demo, not hands on stuff.

it also seems like they have things going on where if you put a small propeller on a big object, it would only cause it fall slower, so it does seem to get as deep as that.

What people?

Seriously, what percentage of the marketplace out there is clamoring for a carbon copy return to the BK universe? Wouldn't a new approach that could potentially appeal to a newer demographic be better?

Dictating development based on nostalgic ideals seems really backward to me.
What people? The half of the people who have been complaining in this thread. It would make as much sense for me to ask what people asked for a change.

Let's say you aren't interested in playing a typical platformer. That's fine, but a lot of people are. How do you solve this problem? You just don't call it Banjo Kazooie. Use a new IP and then people will judge the game entirely based on how it plays.

A few of the interviews have mentioned bringing physics into it in a fairly significant way. I know there was mention of using balloons as a hovering mechanic. I'd be really interested to see if they're just addable as one unit or if you can increase the amount to get higher and/or better results.

Thanks I did miss it. I read the first few pages then started skimming until i saw banned too many times and then read a couple of pages around where it happened.

Mario Galaxy is not 10 year old gameplay in HD. Sequels do not = old gameplay in HD. Hell, SMG isn't even in HD. But it shows that the genre still has a lot to offer (hell, LostWinds is a rather innovative platformer and that's 2D). There are barely even any platforms in any of the Banjo footage and Kazooie has a completely different purpose, so I don't see how people can say the platforming is still intact.

What's to be surprised about with the hate? They put a water pack on Mario and people practically shit themselves. And that was still a platformer...

This could be a good... vehicle-whatever-game, but it's nothing to get excited about for people wanting a new platformer or almost anything related to the BK series.

And gawd, I despise the 'rocked out' version of the theme song in the trailer.

In the grand scheme of the marketplace, to be perfectly frank, why should those people be catered at the expense of innovation?

Look at the comic book industry. The inmates have been running the asylum, to parlay the phrase, for 20 years and the market hasn't grown significantly (despite the blockbuster success of comic book movies across the board) in almost a decade.

I respect that people might have wanted something traditional, but I don't at all think that that segment of the population should be explicitly catered to when a developer has a different approach in mind.

Hi, Amir0x. Kudos for the informative ban message. I am sure Crushed knows exactly what he was banned for.

you are such a twerd

I didn't realize that being a "twerd" was a violation of the Terms of Service. I sure will try to avoid it since it's apparently worth a 3 month suspension.

Yes, the way you build things has an effect on how they perform.
You cant just make any old something that will fly to do everything requiring flying. You have to figure out what to make, depending on the situation.
That concept is unabashed brilliance and way over many peoples heads in this thread unfortunately..

I was just saying, his comment about erector sets is the wrong parallel to draw when kids still find legos to be immensely popular.

Thats the way all previews are.

Not all are as glowing as this. Nexus was talking about this being great long before this preview on his site went up and he further clarified himself on the board by talking about how much he enjoyed it. While doing this, he also acknowledged that there were a few faults that he hoped Rare fixed before it ships. So don't pull the all previews are that way stuff with me. There is genuine interest here in this game.
