The thing I love most about Banshee's fights is that Hood also gets his ass beaten blue. No superheroics in this show.
I love it too. He doesn't just get a few love taps and then walks through the guy. He gets straight up brutalized like anyone else. This show has some of the best fights I've ever seen in film. The MMA fight was fast and lethal and the fights with Albino were sloppy and brutal. I just love it.

The prison scenes were insane - Hood getting literally gutted by the Albino was painful to watch and slashing/stabbing the Albino's lover's face was just...mean.

The Albino walking out into the sun with a black umbrella...so badass and over the top. He reminded me a lot of a comic book villain. And that fight scene...Hood cutting off his cock and then slashing him all over, gouging out his eyes, choking him to death, and then finally breaking his neck/head/everything with a large weight. Good lord. The fight scenes on this show are so fucking vicious and brutal. I love it.

Jesus fuck at the brutality in this show..the cock on the ground, the eye, the shiv smiley...

Wait, there was a shot of the dude's cock lying on the ground? Oh my god

ok I DL the whole first season available episodes on DTV to check out

oh and holy shit at the excellent action/violence in the Pilot. :lol

The post-credits scene was also a nice (if sad) touch. I knew that was going to happen sooner or later, but I didn't expect Sugar to be so upfront about it. He also has a nice thing going on with Hood and CLEARLY he's not going to risk it for some junkie hobo.

Damn I missed this scene. Can someone post in spoilers what happened?

Great episode. The Albino was a pretty chilling bad guy. Actor did great with the role. And now we see how Hood started from the clever thief to the much more vicious criminal we have now. Also, I saw Wick's death coming, but I can't say I feel sorry for the guy. Idiot.

Hood is sitting alone on the shore of the lake listening to a voice mail from Jason, the son of the real Sheriff Hood. He says he's in some trouble and has been trying to contact him, despite them not seeing each other for a long time. Hood looks kind of sad.

Edit: Oh my God. Proctor and Burton are Burns and Smithers as criminals:

watched all 6 episodes yesterday...

each episode moves pretty quickly in and out of side story lines and is obviously excessive in tone, I really enjoyed it a lot.

I wonder though how many times they can go to the well on prison flashbacks seeing as after this last episode he pretty much reached the climax for his main challenge in prison unless he will have a constant flow of guys that Rabbit sent for him?

interesting twists, compelling characters, good writing and acting though.

Also surprised to see in next weeks preview
Rabbit getting called to collect him so soon

Banshee has made its first major Season 2 casting move.

Cinemax’s hit noir-esque drama, which is five episodes into its inaugural season, has promoted current recurring player Anthony Ruivivar to a full-fledged series regular, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Third Watch alum Ruivivar plays Alex Longshadow, the son of of Kinaho Tribe chief Benjamin Longshadow (Russell Means).

Ruivivar is also set to recur as a veteran cop on the upcoming fifth season of TNT’s Southland.

Banshee, from True Blood‘s Alan Ball and House‘s Greg Yaitanes, ranks as Cinemax’s most-watched series with an average gross audience of 2.7 million viewers.

So, Alex Longshadow's gonna be a regular for Season 2. Hood's totally gonna bang his sister.

Also, Proctor was hilariously dickish with the reverend and his wife. Wow.

I love the fact that every problem in this show is solved with violence...and by banging someone's wife/sister/daughter.

There must be something else. Hood is a killing machine nowadays. He sure wasn't anywhere near that even after he killed Albino.

She makes me feel extremely unconfortable in my nether region.

She's probably of age, but still.

Edit: And I probably shouldn't discuss this in public. Now I feel like a dirty old man.

A History of Violence - The TV Show.

Absolutely loving Banshee. Safe to say, it's the best new show in town as far as I'm concerned, followed by The Americans.

Awesome stuff.

Yeah the albino was definitely more of a "this is the turning point in his life" type kill more than a main challenge i think. Remember he spent fifteen years locked up.

Just finished watching the first episode. Honestly, idk how it will survive past season 1. This feels like it was written for the big screen. I almost rather see this type of story line as a full movie, to be real.

Lol, SEASON 2 HAS BEEN GREENLIT, YEE HAW MOTHERFUCKERS.

They'll find a way. The show is pretty much: Hood bangs hot women, kicks criminal ass, commits stupid crimes, bangs another hot woman, utterly destroys a douchebag, credits. Occasionally an Amish gangster is menacing.

Finally caught it earlier in the day. This show is still a great time. Love how Hood gets his ass kicked in every fight he is in and still wins.

Just caught up, show is hella fun. Last ep was absolutely brutal, and I would have thought the video the guy caught on his phone with the MMA fighter would have bitten him in the ass by now though..

Anyone notice that hand-breaking elbow block the albino used is the same thing Hood used on the fighter?

HE'S LEARNING!

yes in fact druing the fight with the champ they showed a brief flashback to the elbow in the episode prior to the Albino Epsiode, so they were showing us then that he was bringing his experiences from jail

Yeah I thought they would have played that had already but maybe they're saving it for more prison tie-ins.
