Really enjoyed the finale. The church assault was a great scene and Rabbit's demise was surprisingly touching. All of that should have propably been in episode 13 of s1, but I still liked it.

And the last 1/3 of the episode was insane and it (I hope) points towards more focused S3. Because S2 felt often like two first halfs of different seasons jumbled together. The action was still nice, but all of it just didn't connect together and as result lost a lot of punch it could have had.

Besides more focused storyline what I expect from S3 is Hood taking down the big indian and Nola returning

Also..lol at Strike Back billboard :D

She better.

Emmett and his wife death were really really pointless in the grand scheme of things and cheesy motivation for Hood to go after the nazis. Rebecca is angling to take over from Proctor is my take.

What a weird episode.
Felt like they were in pure chaos, and desperately wanted to close up all the silly loose ends opened in this season, regardless of character motivation.

For this reason, some things just felt very strange.

Despite that, it looks like there's good potential for Season 3 to return on the tracks of Season 1's glory.

-
The flashback was mostly useless, as we knew already what happened and all of the character's motivations, it feels like they were forcing importance into an otherwise boring development (kill Rabbit, AGAIN).

Emmett's death also felt unnecessary, unless they had the need to cut the actor out of the series for contract reasons.

Rabbit's brother was a total bait and switch, died in a terri-bad way.
"Oh, right, he's still alive, just make him run like an idiot shooting at nothing and get capped like a fool".
They really shat the bed with that whole arc of Racine and Rabbit's brother, like they were setting it up, but then got bored writing it and just wanted out of it.

Oh well, i'm glad we can move the fuck on.

Excellent finale. If only the entire season was this gripping. Season 3 best be the last as I don't see this dragging on further without redundancy setting in.

Am I a sad invidual when I laughed at the flashback scene of the Albino guy pumping Iron in the prison yard knowing what happened lol... ;)

The Finale was great, overall season was not as good a season as the first, but it was great nonetheless...I agree about Emmet,it was kinda pointless...

According to an interview from a while back, it seems as though they're planning for 5 seasons.

I'm curious as to how they'll keep everything centered in the same little town.
Unless they make things more close and personal, keeping the feud between Kai, the Tribe and Hood.
And even then, they have the FBI and whatnot breathing down their neck, you can stretch comicbook reality only so far..

Well, they left the town of Banshee for most of the finale, so they're clearly not opposed to taking the heat elsewhere when it makes sense to do so.

Having Carrie come back and assist Hood, with her husband knowing what's up, which will most likely happen, and them arguing and fighting over it is just one of the few redundancies that best be kept on check for next season and the seasons beyond

That's true, but at the same time i think the weaker stuff in terms of plot is actually when they're outside of Banshee.
Or maybe it's just because i really like when Kai is involved, i think he's a fascinating character.

Gordon is an ex-Marine though, so I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually joined their group!

Nah, I think so too. Instead of branching outside of Banshee and introducing characters like Fat Al (or whatever), they really should be expanding the cast of characters in the town so we can have more types of stories going forward.

Binged through the last four episodes today. It was an interesting send off for a rather uneven season, but it was worth it. Job's part in the second to last episode was AMAZING and the final half of the finale was very very intriguing. I honestly couldn't care less for Rabbit at this point, let alone Hood's friend, so I'm glad we finally closed that chapter and moved onto the next one. On that account, the way they are setting S3 is pretty damn interesting.

PS: I think that people calling Emmett's death unnecessary are missing that Banshee deals in absolutes when it comes to passions. It was a shitty way to put an end to a good character which was made even more harrowing by also killing his wife in the process, but this will put the nazis on Hood's sights right at the start of S3, avoiding any meandering like the one that flawed this season. Also, I feel like Nola is about to come back in style. Hold on to your butts.

Edit: Carrie fucked up big time by telling his husband that Hood is Deva's daughter. With that little bit she basically blew Luca's cover as Banshee's new sheriff and set things in motion for his outing. Gordon will dig for dirt, and that if he doesn't get it straight from Carrie.

Fake edit: Black haired Carrie is stunning. Oh my god.

Yet another fake edit: But Siobhan in that A-shirt, doe.

2 episodes behind, sitting on the DVR.

Bought new 1080p TV, using HDMI, now the DBS STB doesn't want to turn on! Not even a error message from Dishnetwork.. Called for a DVR replacement and having a service tech come out to replace the satellite RCA cables.

tl;dr: I might lose 2 episodes of Banshee.
lol upgrading TVs after 10 years.

Edit: Connection problems with HDMI? The E* DVR is recording Shameless right now. Seems like the DVR is working, just can not get the video to show.
Component video > HDMI
:(

Gordon has a new mission in life. To completely destory Hood. D-E-S-T-R-O-Y him.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out because we know Gordon isn't the kind of guy to just give up on something. This man sets a goal, and he get's shit done.

And yes.......Carrie w/ black hair....DAMN.

I'm thinking that he will leave Hood alone because Hood and Carrie are going to have to steal the money for the son's operation.

Yeah, he's got his son's thing, and can he really openly crush him now that Deva knows the truth? That all seems to work for the longevity of the show.

With that glimpse of Chayton in pit during the show countdown, I kept expecting Hood to pit fight him pretty much every episode after he broke free. After the way they stringed climaxes together in S1, I just figured he'd be back for a crazy fight immediately. (I hate those countdowns now.)

The finale did give me that S1 feeling of wanting to check my watch just because so much stuff had gone down that I was surprised the show was still going on.

It was a good episode, but aside from the last 10 minutes I can't help feeling it was more of an extended (and somewhat unnecessary) epilogue to Season 1.

Here's hoping we've moved onto greener bloodier pastures.

Oh, well that'd be kind of silly.

They seem really interested in playing up his whole "mysterious past" thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if they stretched it out across the entire series. We'll probably get some flashbacks to Hood's army days next year, and maybe flashbacks to something else the year after that. Maybe they'll reveal his name in the series finale?

...and his name will be John.

Banshee is Sex and the City for men confirmed.

Last few episodes were disappointing and inline with the rest of the season. One of the weakest sophomore efforts I've seen from a cable series. 1/3 of the season finale felt like filler and redundant as fuck. Can't say I've ever seen that before :\

Now I really fear for the end of the of Strike Back. With it gone, there won't be a top notch action series left on TV :(

Everybody try to be positive: S3 will start with both Longshadow and Rabbit #deadandburied, Rebecca gone bad, Kai angrier than wasp on crack and the nazis already beefing extra hard with Banshee's PD. Chaiton and Nola should show up again, but there won't be a lot of rethreading there.

I feel that S3 will be a better effort than S2.

- THR: 'Banshee' Caps Off Sophomore Run With Cinemax Record
After handing out an early renewal to Banshee in January, the Cinemax original drama's ratings have only gone up.

Banshee hit a first-run (and network) record on Friday with its sophomore finale. 733,000 viewers tuned into the 10 p.m. telecast, besting the previous high by 142,000. The most-watched original episode for any Cinemax series to date.

The show went on to gross 968,000 viewers with an encore -- also a high. Banshee's season-to-date gross viewership (with DVR, On Demand and HBO Go) is now at 2.7 million viewers.

Cinemax committed to a third season of the Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler-created drama, which also counts Alan Ball, Peter Macdissi and Greg Yaitanes as executive producers, back in January.

I was in the supermarket checkout line this evening, and the woman behind me pointed to the picture of Sullivan Stapleton in Men's Health magazine and asked her boyfriend if he was still watching Banshee.
He's not caught up, and he did mention that Sullivan is on 'that other show' and not Banshee.

that other show is better. even most action films today aren't as enjoyable.

banshee could have been there with season 1 but i think this season was pretty disjointed. still...that job church escape was so good.

Finally got around to watching the finale, really enjoyed it...except for the whole Emmet thing. Did not expect that, at least in the finale.

Was hoping Hood would find out at the end.

:(

Can't wait to see Chayton fuck shit up, Nola coming back, and who they bring in to replace Emmet.

Regarding Emmett, here's what they had to say in the IMDB interview:
IMDbTV: So it sounds like you knew that this was really it for Emmett this season. That he wasn’t just going to leave town, but there was no way that he was coming back.

Tropper: Yes. There’s an underlying premise in our show, which is that not too many people are going to get out alive, and that everything that happens in Banshee corrupts what’s pure. Emmett was pure. But ultimately Banshee corrupted him and that resulted in his death. So yeah, that just seemed like a pretty straightforward storyline that is true to the underlying premise of the show.

IMDbTV: It also seemed as if, if it were possible for Banshee to have a moral center… Emmett was it. So I guess while it didn’t surprise me that he left… that 11th hour execution was shocking.

Greg Yaitanes: Yes, we had a conversation about that. The thing that we wanted to show is that “Banshee” is a show where there aren’t always happy endings. It is a show where anybody can go at any time. But also, it was evil for evil. We kind of told everybody in episode 8 how that was going to end. Just because they [the white supremacists] did something bad and a like response was met, that doesn’t mean that’s the end of the story. We wanted to show there was a real consequence to the action. That was not the end. It’s very powerful that way, because it’s obviously going to fuel us at the front of the season next year. But I know it was very powerful choice for that season.

IMDbTV: So that part of the show’s storyline isn’t over?

Tropper: Well, the death of one our major characters at the end of this season is obviously going to have repercussions moving into season three.

Yaitanes: Evil for evil.

Still felt kind of unearned to me.

They should've developed it more, especially since they really didn't give Emmett that much development time, prior to the final episodes, to begin with.

It would've been like if Kelly's ex husband killed her, the episode after she kicked his ass.

The more I think about the final episode the more I realize what a bad taste it left in my mouth. It was like an alternate (and much less satisfying) S1 ending where nothing felt earned.

Even Julian Sands completely wasted in his role.

Indeed.
Down to Hood's sacrifice, everything felt unearned.

But really i blame the general confusion of the season, that was unable to effectively build up to it.

Job was the target of the week on The Blacklist, running around with a katana... and a Japanese accent.

He even hunts out Wee-Bay.

Finally marathoned the season. its good, but the finale is not as good as the first one. I would have considered this as finale when Rabbit died. Proctor is in jail and mom forgave him. If next season starts to suck I'll consider it as extended Universe, but if Nola returns...
