It says the game will unlock on the 15th on steam, so 3 days earlier is nice.
18th was always the European date (Friday). NA gets it on the Tuesday is it was always the 15th.

I take it we are using this thread for our pre-release spoiler free hype now? A PC waiting support group?

The |OT| is going to start straying into spoiler territory very soon.

SecuROM? No purchase.
Oh. False alarm.

Still, at least SecuROM doesn't fuck up your saves. And Arkham Asylum also used SecuROM. And it was very friendly with the allocated installations the last time around. You know, how they automatically renewed after 30 days.

HOLY FUCK ITS NOT GFWL

pretty much confirmed because not only it shows steam achievements but also its available to look at the store page in my region. GFWL games are never available here.

PRAISE THE LAWD

IM ALSO GETTING THE US RELEASE INSTEAD OF THE EUROPEAN ONE FOR ONCE

I seriously love WB right now.

Has there ever been a case where a Steam game didnt have GFWL but other versions did?
I only ask because I ordered it from GMG but might actually cancel if steam doesnt get GFWL.

Also...17GBs? I might actually go retail if thats the case.

Yeah, just read that. Probably means something regarding DLC.

You're one of three people on this forum that will argue in favor of Games for Windows Live. Now, you're either 1 of the 2 that does so ironically, or the 1 guy that actually prefers GFWL because of the achievements that tie to your gamerscore.

Eitherway, lol, i get it.

You can still buy retail if you want GFWL. Win/Win for both camps if the steam version doesn't have GFWL.

We haven't confirmed that yet. But it would certainly be nice of them do that for the 1 guy that needs to bolster his gamerpointz.

Yeah, that and the 20% off the Batman Midweek Madness titles just showed up in the news section.

So it's a hybrid of Steamworks and GFWL? Is this a first?

Best of both worlds for me if that's the case, I'm all about Steam Cloud + Live achievements :P

No I think Dawn of War II had both. Fallout 3 was this way too, although I don't think it had Steamworks.

Edit: Beaten like a drum.

Hah, I own DoW2 and didn't even know it had Steamworks features.

Anyways, I'm most happy with the Steam Cloud feature. Something always tends to happen where my save gets deleted. Luckily my Arkham Asylum save survived my transition from Vista to 7.

No, it is certainly the best of 1 world and the shittiest sandwich of another, impossibly shitty world: Steam Achievements & Steam Cloud with online multiplayer and DLC powered by GFWL.

Pretty sure if Fable 3, DIRT3, SSF4AE and other games are the case, DLC for AC will also show up on the Steam store.

It sucks that people have had issues with GFWL, and hopefully it doesn't cause too many problems with this game. I've been lucky with GFWL, no problems here and as an Xbox 360 and PC player I like having it with my PC games.

I don't think Dirt 3's DLC ever got put up on Steam.

Regardless, multiplayer is one of GFWL's weakest features. It's unfortunate that they're using it at all, but I'm glad it isn't full GFWL.

So I can get steam achievements at the same time as I get Live achievements? That's...different I guess. But holy shit, $40 price tag, preordering immediately.

If this is true I'm back on-board. Being able to choose like this is the ideal solution and I hope more games try it.

You haven't been "lucky".

I wonder how it'll handle cheezemints, assuming that they'll be the same across the two services. When you do something, will both pop up at the same time? One at a time? Only one shows up?

People are kind of jumping the gun here. This is literally all we know and any conclusions drawn outside of these facts could be setting yourself up for disappointment.

1) The Steam store page for Arkham City shows the game having the following features:
- Steam Achivements. Viewable right now.
- Steam Cloud.

2) Fine print was added that made note of GFWL being required for online play. This is actually consistent with prior word for WB regarding GFWL (they said a log-in wouldn't be required for the main game).

Anything outside of that right now is speculation.

I'm sure the game will let you know everywhere and anywhere it records an achievement. It might kind of look like the Arkham Asylum GOTY box art.

It could be referencing the Catwoman campaign, which requires the consoles to be online.

You used 1 guy twice, with different comments.

You used people who have neutral opinions as evidence of positive opinions.

Your methods are faulty. No Science degree for you.
The point of that post was to cite those who haven't had problems, not "positive" opinions, therefore neutrality is relevant.

All of these people were lucky as well: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=30519674&postcount=130

Give it a rest and I'll give it a rest.
Let's not lie here. You will never give it a rest.

Meanwhile, I am going to talk forever about how GFWL corrupted my save files and kept me from playing a single player game because it couldn't download a multiplayer patch. And shockingly, you can't do a thing to make me stop that.

Moreover, don't tell me what to do, because the last thing I need is to get advice from someone for whom brand loyalty and arbitrary numbers affects their entire personality.
