Liking GFWL and its achievements affects someone's entire personality? Really, bro? Care to make any more sweeping generalizations...ShockingAlberto said:Let's not lie here. You will never give it a rest.
Meanwhile, I am going to talk forever about how GFWL corrupted my save files and kept me from playing a single player game because it couldn't download a multiplayer patch. And shockingly, you can't do a thing to make me stop that.
Moreover, don't tell me what to do, because the last thing I need is to get advice from someone for whom brand loyalty and arbitrary numbers affects their entire personality.

Gotta love it.

As for brand loyalty, I buy games from the other forms of DRM (like Ubisoft and Origin/EA) , just not Steam anymore because I don't like it. In fact, I just bought Homm6 (Ubi) and Darkspore (Origin) within the past 2 weeks. I'm not brand loyal to anything. Can't say the same for those who only buy from one and consider every other option heresy.
Either way, if we get the option to choose which DRM to use as it seems to be the case here with Steam and GFWL for Batman, then we can all be happy and call it a day.

Again, whether they wanted it or not is irrelevant. The entire point of gathering those quotes was to refute the hyperbolic claims of everyone having issues with the service, nothing to do with opinions or preferences. Also take into account that much more often than not people who have problems with a service or product will be the ones posting about it on a forum, not the other way around, so the fact that I got those ~26 quotes from two threads was telling.morningbus said:Especially in the context of this game being (partially) Steamworks, a lot of the comments you linked to don't even factor in anymore. There are at least four or five that only say "Well, if it isn't going to be Steamworks, they should make it GFWL."
Regardless, finding 26 people that have at least a neutral opinion on something isn't hard. Hell, even in the comments you linked only a portion of people actually wanted GFWL.
I loved TF2 (before it became HF2). The HWG is an awesome character.TheExodu5 said:I find it humorous that your username is Heavy.

No. No. No. One or the other. Steamworks for those who buy it on Steam. GFWL for those who don't. Dawn of War 2 is pretty much why I don't want both.Foliorum Viridum said:Oh. Oh!
But yeah, I still say Steamworks and GFWL is the perfect combo.
Just a thought, but for one, you'd have to have a good sample to work with. The NeoGAF community is NOT it.morningbus said:So where do we go from here? If I collect a list of people greater than 26 people long, I win? How do I prove to you that not having any issues with GFWL is the minority opinion?
I'll do it. Give me a reasonable metric to work with and I'll do it.
But I want to buy it on Steam and have both. :'(jackdoe said:No. No. No. One or the other. Steamworks for those who buy it on Steam. GFWL for those who don't. Dawn of War 2 is pretty much why I don't want both.
Actually, i think i just messed up posting the link, try this:TheExodu5 said:Sadly, the skin links have been broken for a little while. I don't know if anyone has archived them.
I'm not really sure where to go from here, either. Nor am I sure if this is a topic worth spending anymore significant amount of time on. If you wanna compile some data, go for it, but I don't think it'll be worth your time... certainly don't do it on my behalf.morningbus said:So where do we go from here? I like it when games are fully supported on PC. Having to wait months for a single patch really sucks.Foliorum Viridum said:Oh. Oh!

It's in your own best interest as a PC gamer to buy the best games, both for your enjoyment and to encourage the development of more great games in the future.Scipius said:You shouldn't refuse to buy it to please me. You should refuse to buy it because it's in your own best interest as a PC gamer. Unfortunately many PC gamers just don't understand that an open and free platform is the opposite of what GFWL represents.

No. You're forgetting the fact that I can use left over MS points to purchase DLC through GFWL. THAT is the number one benefit. MS points can be bought for cheap or obtained for free (through Bing rewards) and it makes things easy for me.morningbus said:What an odd thing to say as apparently the only worthwhile feature of GFWL is gamerscore, something console players care deeply about. There is not one thing that GFWL does that Steamworks does not do better. Fuck, GFWL barely has an advantage over Gamespy.

Haha. I played too much TF2 to want to ever go back to it again.jim-jam bongs said:1. Play TF2
2. Sell hats
3. ???
4. Buy DLC for free
Meh. It's a benefit for a guy who buys stuff on the Xbox 360 and PC so I like it. Also, GFWL does achievements better than Steam. But that's about the end of any advantages it has over Steam.morningbus said:You locked yourself into Microsoft's own currency.
That's like me saying Best Buy has the advantage over Amazon because I was given a Best Buy giftcard. It only holds true in one, ultra specific case.
As for getting cheap points, stuff goes on sale frequently enough on Steam that it's a wash.

Isn't it the same thing as the Steam wallet? I put in $5 to buy a stupid Manco crate key and had $2.50 left over.jim-jam bongs said:That's cool, I'm just saying that it's not like there aren't ways to get into the Steam "economy" for free. Morningbus' point about getting stuck on the Microsoft spacebucks treadmill is actually a lot more relevant.
True enough. That's why I want Steamworks for copies purchased on Steam and GFWL for copies that aren't. That way, competing digital retailers don't have to "advertise" a competing service.morningbus said:Well, I already conceded that if you care about points, then that was GFWL only advantage (and even that is just subjective). In every other feature it is not only inferior to Steamworks, but vastly inferior.
no, every link is deadTheExodu5 said:I can't check it from home, but last time I checked the forum post with the skins, the links in the OP were expired. This was around 2 weeks ago. Could be it's fixed now?

I misunderstood, I was talking about looking at the pics, not the links to the skins themselves. That sucks though.Stitch said:no, every link is dead
Oh, I definitely agree about some of the funky pricing on the Live front. But I only wanted one key in my case (cause I had one crate) and I didn't want to waste another $2.50 on the game (this was before it became F2P and was around the time that I stopped playing). So in my case, it was similar as I spent more money than I intended to.jim-jam bongs said:The difference there though is that there are other items for $2.50. I mean, you could just buy another key if you like. My, and many other people's, major issue with Live spacebucks is that the pricing of content and points bundles is specifically engineered to require you to spend more money than you intended to.
Give us the Robin DLC for free? The Nature Roy said:While short on details, the DLC seems all about assured for the PC version at this point.
I really hope it's not also pushed back a month but rather available day one for the content that will be released prior to the PC release date and same day as consoles for that which is not.
Come on Rocksteady... details please...
