Since I can't play tomorrow and all I have access too right now is my PS3, I just popped Asylum in. This game still looks fantastic.

I really do like the game, but it doesn't feel like it's own separate game. It feels like Arkham City part 2 with everything cranked to 11.

That's fairly comprehensive in how I feel about the game too.

I do think it handles its scale better than Arkham City did, but so much of Arkham Knight is the game version of the phrase "and the kitchen sink". It's weird. Very rarely in a game do I get confused about what button does what 8 hours into it but 70% through the main story of Arkham Knight (and 49% through it all) I'm still struggling with the sheer amount of things.

'Ok, so those enemies do this and I have to press ___ to counter, and that enemy does that and I have to press ____ then press ____ to counter, but now there's this thing an enemy can do, and this power-up they can have, then of course there are all the enemy types from Arkham City'.

'Ok, so this gadget does X, but that other gadget that seems like it should do X does Y, and now the third gadget does a very specific Z, and I have tons of gadgets from the previous game that I neglect to use because of all the things I have'.

'So the Batmobile can do this. But it can also do that. And I have this ability, which can do this thing. But it uses the meter I have to store to do this other thing. And I have to press the Square button four times for this, but I have to hold Triangle for that'.

And that permeates almost every aspect of the game.
Yeah, this nails how I'm feeling about it so far.

I'm one of the people who favor AC over AA but I always understood the argument that said AA was a tighter design than AC, I still preferred AC because I felt the game gave ample breathing room to every gameplay mechanic. Everything you could do was there for a reason and it felt useful. Right now, I'm not feeling this with AK. It's not the batmobile in itself, it's the overall balance of the game where every encounter feels looser than in previous games. At this point, there are moments I feel the game is less than the sum of its (mostly stellar) parts.
This might seem negative but it's mostly frustration at something that is great but feels like it should be greater.

This might change as I progress obviously.

I cant believe some people hate the Batmobil, its so good, its huge, bulky, fast and powerful and sounds incredible when driving

I suppose the only negative would be the armed mode, its like its gliding around and feels kinda weird but its still so much fun to drive

For some reason the game won't let me pull up while gliding. The dialog shows up, but if I do it, Batman just continues to dive straight down. Anyone have this issue?

Nvm, its working now.

The added height to the buildings was a very welcome addition.

Say what you want about this game, but diving off a tall building and holding R1 so you can see the batmobile blowing around a corner to try and meet you as you fall is so freaking fun.

The added attention to detail and the amount of things you can do is so cool. This is the ultimate be the The Batman game.

And I'm loving the batmobile

Just spent a fair few hours playing this and at the moment the game is awesome!

Really enjoying being the goddamn batman and also the batmobile, didn't really have that much difficulty with the first riddler mission thought it was really easy tbh, but practiced it again the get the tech upgrade, so far I've managed to get 8 Rival Points just off of that mission! :D

I noticed this too. I am at the very beginning of the game so maybe you get it later, but I thought before you could pull up and down like a Mario cape before.

Am I overlooking something? Aren't there any challenge rooms like in City and Origins? Do I need to access them from the story (like the bat cave in origins) as I can't find a direct menu route. I am talking about the free flow rooms without any conditions, just score as much as points in various rounds, those were awesome but I can't seem to find them.

It just feels forced and unnecessary addition. Not to mention, that you apparently can't map break/reverse to L2. Feels really awkward to use square button for it, after playing Driveclub for months.

Yes you can, Game Options and change battle mode to toggle. L2 becomes reverse.

This really needs to go into the title or something.

If there is one thing I hate this generation is patches, holy shit. Sometimes I wish we were back in the PS2 days and what you get on this disc is all you need.

I'm sort of disappointed so far. This feels more like an action movie than a comic. I was hoping it would still have that mysterious psychological Arkham Asylum vibe to it. The dialogue is so stupid at times. I'm still early on in the game, so maybe it will change. It feels more like the Avengers: Batman movie or something.

Okay, 70% complete with the Main Story and just... guys... holy fucking shit.

This is absolutely insane. The only reason I could tell that some reviewers hated the story is simply because of how fucking insane and dark it is, it's almost too much.

REAL SPOILER:
Way too much Joker though.

Been playing a couple of hours and I'm really enjoying it so far. My biggest gripes are related to production values. I'm playing on PS4 and the amount of CA and blur + the persistent torrential downpour really detracts from the game's visuals. The VO work is also standing out as a sore spot. I also wish I could turn off the counter prompts.

wow i just played the first one (asylum) and didnt even finish it at the time

just played this one 1h or so... dont amazed at all

first gfx, was expecting much better. Its kinda blurry, and i see some weird aliasing ( direction arrow for instance ). And its kind of messy so sometimes i dont know where to go. For me infamous is much better looking

but the control. They put you straight in a game with no real tutorial, with like 5 items to use, pary , block or whatever the combat system offert you. Im a bit lost, and since when can batman teleport (or hyperfast slide) to ennemies 10meters away? feels very strange.

I dont know really much where to go, beside the next point and the city feels the same wherever i go. Like a big copy/paste everywhere....

will continue, but i guess i was overhyped a bit too much

My biggest problem with the Batmobile is that it basically feels like another gadget. In some ways it's very well integrated, but mostly the game just suddenly throws a series of contrived reasons that force you to use it for puzzles or whatever, whereas prior to it's existence in the games, there was a more practical gadget-based solution.

I don't know if that makes sense, but basically it's like when you walk into an area in a third person shooter and see a bunch of chest high walls/convenient cover. You know that that stuff is there because it needs to be, rather than feeling natural.

There's just too much emphasis on it which makes the game feel more like Batmobile: Arkham Knight.

Game is aces otherwise.

Yup. Gee, it's sure lucky we didn't run into any problems in Asylum or City that could only be solved with a vehicle-mounted winch. It feels really artificial, and most of the instances of forced car use seem like they could be solved with Batman's usual gadget arsenal with a little creative thinking.

So did they seriously make Harley, Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing all playable not playable in challenge maps?
Seems like a needless waste of effort to animate all of them only to restrict them.

Also, that Harley Quinn thing was really, really short. Its like under 15 minutes. They aren't going to sell this are they? What would it cost, .99 cents?

Is it me or is Gotham City kind of...drab? Like it looks like it's supposed to look and it looks great, but so far I haven't found any cool places of interest and stuff like I would in City and especially Asylum. I've been in the air and the car alot, and maybe it's just a product of it being so big, but I haven't found myself wanted to explore as much.

Seems like they locked them behind DLC judging from the official description of one of the upcoming packs
