Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

The Vita port of BL2 was remarkable, that it actually ran like it did.

Is the game using Steamworks? They could simply postpone activating the game on Steam, thereby delaying it.
The outrage would be incredible
Pretty sure it's steamworks.

Looking at their rap sheet im not exactly instilled with confidence.

If anything, I'm thinking they helped with the Steamworks integration, since they handled it for AA and AC.

Depends on if they handled the DX11 features in Arkham City. AA and AC were good ports until you turned on DX11 features, then it crashed the frame rate and became awful. AO was done better than both.

The only thing they did on AA and AC was converting to Steamworks, the actual PC version and features were handled by Rocksteady.

According to Wiki they assisted with the PC/360 and PS3 version of AO as well. Either way, the point is moot: It's not getting delayed so soon before release. There's people playing it on Steam right now, probably devs testing or people with access like nVidia.

Okay yeah, seriously, be realistic. The lack of a preload means nothing, this will not be delayed on PC.

It's virtually impossible. If somehow, some way it ends up delayed this close to the release, literally mere hours, I will eat the biggest serving of crow ever served.

Iron Galaxy though... well their work could go either way. Handsome Collection had pretty "meh" performance for a while, thankfully rectified now, but everything else seemed decent enough.

Yeah, not to mention no one knows if they ported it themselves or just assisted with something. If anyone is on the fence and hasn't already pre-ordered, it doesn't hurt to wait for GAF impressions. I'll defiintely be posting some early impressions in the OT on performance with my system. (i7 920@3.8, GTX 970)

Its disappointing how soft this game looks. Heavy FXAA and CA on top that... just a very bad combination. Makes the game look like sub 900p... . I guess Rocksteady didnt like to give us a sharp game.

The ad for the PS4 DLC clearly states "Play it First" with fine print saying its exclusive until fall. Which likely means it'll release in august along with all the other retail exclusives.

Also, the description of the Scarecrow mission reads..

Perhaps theres more to it than that, but it definitely seems like it has something to do with the batmobile.

Yeah, my mistake on the first one. I didn't know.

But yeah, the Batmobile is just part of the description. The actual missions aren't centered around the Batmobile.

Are there any perks to pre-ordering digital? I wanted to wait to see the XB1 verison but I hate it when you lose some DLC since you didn't pre-order.

Ugh ok. Now I see it on the store page too. Isn't that exactly the time when sales end / new sales come up on Steam?

No, the summer sales end in little less than 19 hours. I think (or hope) it's an error, because usually release dates are the second after midnight.

edit: Unless they want to release it to the world simultaneously instead of looking at the regional times.

Going by this: https://steamdb.info/app/208650/history/ There's a lot of activity happening for Arkham Knight.

Yeah there's no way they'd delay at the last minute. It would have to be some fucking uber bug that deletes your root hard drive like Myst.

Did not know that, guess that makes PC the definitive version. Was the one thing that made me consider getting ps4 version but 60 fps turned me over.

So in trying to find out more info I saw what I hope isn't a major spoiler on the Steam forums. I won't even spoiler tag it here. Just an FYI STAY OFF THE STEAM FORUMS FOR THIS GAME. If this ends up being true I am going to be so pissed. Until I see a preload live on Steam I am standing by what I predicted: Game is being delayed on PC.

Nah man can't be, they can't pull that shit 24 hours before launch, no fucking way.

Thanks for the heads up. So much for it automatically downloading.. It only started when I resumed from rest mode. Got all the pop ups..

I thought the game was 50 GB.. It's showing as 16.600 GB for the main game on PSN.. A whopping 10 hours lol wtf?

I'm really tempted to dish out another $30 for the fucking season pass/DLC. What's on it again?

16 gigs is probably how much you need to download before you can launch it.

That's the Play/Go portion, if you go to "Information" on the game tile, it'll show the rest of the game downloading.

Gotta wonder if steam is holding it back from being pre-downloaded for some reason.
This is on WB going by the link posted in here.

But why?

Why don't we have the usual nvidia guides and videos if it's a gameworks game. We've seen smoke. That's it.

Somethings up.

You guys are acting like it isn't normal for AAA games to have their PC versions not get much press until the last minute. It is. Especially with WB. Even Witcher 3, a series with a heavy PC heritage, delayed sending out PC copies.

I'd wager their insistence to lock it down is the fact they can no longer exploit the youtuber market after Shadows of Mordor's PC "agreement" leaked.

This is pissing me off. Never has a game been this "locked down" before. There is no PC footage and no Gameworks footage. No PC reviews.. ziltch!
There's already been PC footage from NVidia, just go looking for it. I wouldn't be worried if I was you, I doubt they'd screw over the PC version this late into the game.
