Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassin's Creed Nexus were a thing. Resident Evil 4 did well. Blade and Sorcery Nomad is getting done and releasing soon. VR is getting a lot of big AAA/AA releases this year such as Batman, Metro, Alien, Behemoth, Wanderer, Just Dance, Triangle Strategy, and more.Came here to post this...Publishers like WB will just use the low numbers to justify moving even more onto gaas garbage, though, after SS and Concord giving us a double whammy of a nuclear bombing I'd be shitting bricks as a CEO right now having to choose between the two and pleasing investors so I hope their diapers are already on.
I'm happy for VR users though, all 12 of them, that they seem to be getting another incredible game after HL Alyx, it's only been 4 years afterall.
Played about 2.5 hours. I can already say buy it. It's that good. Here's my referral link for a discount. https://www.meta.com/appreferrals/D...frl&utm_medium=app_referral/&utm_content=copy
This is not just a full AAA VR game, but feels like it stands out as an Arkham game and truly belongs to sit among the series' best offerings. VR adds layers of depth but there is serious passion going on here for the franchise. I mean insane amounts of work to get this right.
Combat
I was ranked top 20 on Xbox 360 in most of the challenge maps for the first game, so I have an understanding of the mechanics. Like the previews, this is well done and uses the first game as a template. Don't swing wildly and think about each move briefly before doing it. The counters are done by moving your arm left or right when an icon appears. I found a quick "backfist" works better in the icon direction rather than a swing for counters. Keep the blocks and punches snappy and you'll feel like a fucking badass. It's crisp once you find a rhythm, but if you get overwhelmed, use the evade(LT or RT can't remember) and they will get you out of most situations to reset. It's also a damn workout! Holy shit! I keep wanting to fight more and I was working up a sweat.
Predator mode
Just like the original Arkham game. It's simply that in VR with smart mechanics. I was gliding around Gargoyles while looking behind me. It's just fluid as hell and immersive.
Story
I'm invested 100%. This is good writing, voice acting, and the mood is just top notch. You can really get the sense that Gotham is eating itself alive.
Graphics
It's atmospheric and good looking. You definitely get the sense this has been polished up for years and the shadows are particularly nice to see.
Overall, I'm not far into the game, but this is definitely the most polished VR game I can remember since Alyx. As a massive Arkham and VR fan, this is a dream come true. I honestly didn't expect the transversal and combat to be this good.
There's a rumored new version of Quest 3 to come out this fall. Maybe that might bundle with Batman, like how the Quest 3 bundled with Asgards Wrath 2.
So I bumped up the resolution to 130% and dynamic resolution in settings. Runs great and looks noticeably sharper. Using Quest optimizer.
Usually it does so signifcantly. Quest 3 barely lasts 2 hours in default settings. Having non-battery saving profiles on QGO tends to drop that down to less than 1.5 hours. I haven't paid it much attention since I got a head strap with an external battery that makes it last 5-6 hours.Does it drain the battery faster?
What battery do you use? I use a hallo battery strap and I'm lucky if I get an extra hourUsually it does so signifcantly. Quest 3 barely lasts 2 hours in default settings. As much as I would love for someone to jump in to VR, I just can't recommend the Quest 3 more, over the 3S. Bro. The pancake lenses alone make it feel like a PS2 to PS3 jump. But with that said, I'd also only recommend it if you are going to jump in and play more games.Tempted as fuck to impulse buy a Quest 3S just for this. Game sounds awesome.

Shaping up to be the VR game of the yearReviews are starting to come in and they say the game is stellar

Batman: Arkham Shadow Review - A Triumphant Return
Batman: Arkham Shadow is a brilliant return for the Dark Knight, and it expertly adapts the series for VR on Quest 3 and Quest 3S.www.uploadvr.com
So apparently releasing it early we didn't get the day 1 patch that releases today
Where did you read this? Discord?
Holy shit look at the resolution difference optimizer makes while maintaining fps

I tried 200% with quest optimizer but when using smoke grenades the fps tanks. Although I didn't try dynamic resolution, you dont get frame drops?
So, the only reason they don't maximize resolution/framerate of a Quest 3 exclusive game is to save battery? WTF
Even if you don't have a battery strap, you can always put a powerbank in your pocket and sustain your Quest this way
Or are they afraid of overheating? (But don't ARM SoCs have thermal throttling?)
Not only one of the best VR experiences ever made but one of the best Batman games too, with a fantastically immersive simulation of the Dark Knight Detective, that's just as good as the other Arkham games.
I believe the culprit might be that the resolution, FPS and other parameters have to be set WHEN the application is being launched, not afterwards. If I had to guess, if you max out to ultra settings through 3rd party apps, you might get over an hour gameplay. That's pretty underwhelming for some. But with the extender as you say you can go way beyond that and still have ultra settings with no reason to worry about overheating. Best of both worlds.
Anyone has a referral code for batman!?

Otherwise, everybody would simply allow user to switch between "ECO" and "POWER" modes, right...?
Geez this has me from "meh vr" to on the fence of wanting to buy a quest 3.
I love the Arkham series, it sounds killer!
My only vr experience was some shit game on psvr1 about 5-6 years ago.
I wear a fanny pack and put a huge external battery in it. My sessions can be around 5-7 hours. So, the only reason they don't maximize resolution/framerate of a Quest 3 exclusive game is to save battery? WTF
