Batman v Superman: Gotham trailer

I am quite hyped for this.

A large part of me really hopes they manage to hit it out of the park so that the DC universe can develop from solid foundations. I hope we're offered a good contrast of the MCU in terms of tone, cinematography and themes.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE Marvel's universe however the relentless output of their films lately have caused fatigue. Speaking for myself here, many of you may disagree. I couldn't bring myself to watch AoU or Antman in the cinema; the former was far too samey of what we've seen before. The latter was refreshing in a sense - probably due to Edgar Wright's ideas. Some parts did feel 'samey' again; it may be due to the need for consistency in the MCU that Edgar Wright didn't complete his work with Ant-Man.

I really hope that Warner Brothers deliver with DCU; it has the potential to be richer in it's thematic exploration given it's more mature tone. It's quite visible in the BvS trailers; I hope it proves true in the actual release and isn't just smart trailer cutting as was the case with Man of Steel.

The fatigue I've mentioned with MCU also greatly attributed to my thorough enjoyment of deadpool. It was a refreshing entry in the superhero genre and I really hope it also encourages further innovation.

All the promotional tour for this movie has done is show me that Cavill needs the freedom to basically make his Superman WAY more like himself.

Does anyone know the name of the song used in the trailer? Someone said the composer is Rafael Maiolino but I played a few songs and couldn't find it

You know what? You're right. Hopefully in future movies we get a Superman who's more comfortable with himself and the world he's in to allow a more lighthearted tone. Would be a great contrast to Batman.

I thought Wonder Woman's line was whatever, but everything else looked really great. The Alfred/Bruce relationship seems like it's going to be a big plus of this film.

Definitely. If you want inspiration for a brutal efficiently unstoppable fighter, Arkham games are the best place to look.

Hell, even Winter Soldier apparently took inspiration from the First Avenger tie-in game. Chris Evans apparently saw the moves he was pulling off in the game and went "Wait... can we do this?!"

"I'll take you in without breaking you"
"If I wanted it, you'd be dead already"

People wondering how they can fight should be getting the message now, right?

Gadgets as well.
Really doubt we get stuff like the weapon jammers without them in Arkham.
Just getting a big grin seeing the jammers and takedowns and dual counters in live action

Yeah, seems like Batman is counting on Superman's hubris to take him down as Superman will realize something is really wrong too late with how the trailers are showing the fight, especially this one at the end, when he let's the fight drag on for too long. There is another detail, I don't know how much it will be touched, but on top of the things Batman are bringing to the fight, it's also a night fight, and Superman won't be able to normally soak up recharge like he would with sunlight as it drags on which will weaken him from proper recovery from what Batman is using against him.

Oh and I'm giddy to see the gadgets and takedowns on screen too. Oh, you got guns for Batman? No dice baddies!

That... that just shot my hype levels from 100 to 1,000,000.

Am I fucking crazy, or does this have the actual potential of being the best superhero movie of all time?

I really hate hyperbole but... this looks like it's got "it."

It just makes me want to read the Goyer script even more. What the hell was that movie going to look like?
The original script for this was a disaster based on what a friend of mine said.

I didn't let him say anything more than what I'm saying here just in case bits were left in, but Superman was written like a bragging serial killer who saw nothing wrong with the Metropolis incident and Batman was basically Tony Stark throwing harder punches and trying to kill everyone in sight.

Seriously? Is this in the Winter Soldier Commentary?
I'll find a link when I get back to my apartment (on phone now). Evans straight up gives credit to the game for the WS fights.

EDIT: Source
Q: With the fighting styles, what was your preparation like with the martial arts? Are you comfortable with it?

CE: Comfortable now. In the beginning it’s a tricky process, and it’s tough realizing you’re not good at things right away. You just want to be like, “I can do that,” and then you’re awful and you’re like, “I guess I can’t do that.”

In between the first Captain America movie and The Avengers, I had played the Captain America video game. Im not really a video game guy. But someone handed me the controller, and I was playing, and the way Cap moves in the video game, there’s a fluidity and it’s very acrobatic. It’s very aerial. He uses his environment, and it’s almost this beautiful, smooth dance, and when I first met with the [directors], I said, “Have you played the video game?” And I swear to God, they said: “You know what? We referenced the video game, too.” I said, “Good, good, we’re on the same page. But that means we need to incorporate a little bit more of an acrobatic approach to fighting.” And so we put myself in gymnastic classes, which is something I always wanted to do – kind of, anyway. [LAUGHS] I mean, I wanted to go play on like, the balance beam, but it was more like tumbling, essentially. Parkour-style gymnastic stuff. Flipping, and spinning, and just kind of getting a sense of your body in the air. So we did about two months of that. We did two months, a few hours each day, and it was invaluable. It really lends itself to a lot of those fight scenes.

Yup

In early meetings with the Russos, Evans referenced "Captain America: Super Soldier," the video game inspired by "Captain America: The First Avenger," as a touchstone for what he'd like to see Cap do in the new film.

"I love the way Cap moves [in that game]," exclaims the actor. "He just beats ass. That's how this guy needs to be moving.

"You're a monster Superman, and I'm gonna stop you"

"There's only one way this ends, Clark! Either you die, or I do. Which is two ways, actually, not one, but the one way I was referencing was death, the variable being which one of us dies, which will not be me, let me assure you, I was just trying to impart to you how seriously I'm taking this moment, right now. This moment, right before you look at me and know I was the one who beat you. Although you won't really be able to look at me when I do that because I'll have killed you, which is one of the two ways that this can end, even though I had just previously said this only ends one way, but before we fight, I was wondering; tell me..."

Daaamn. I'd love to read that. I have a copy of the old Batman vs. Superman script Francis Lawrence was supposed to make years ago. It's such a bizarre script. I mean it's bad, but I'm fascinated by how that stuff falls apart.

We joke, but there's an alternate universe out there where this version of BVS actually happened.

Bullet dodged.

Because I am not super knowledeagable about comics can anyone explain how can batman withstand superman's hits?

If it's what I'm guessing and there will be nods to The Dark Knight Returns...the armor can't fully protect Batman from Superman at full strength. He is planning on weakening him with some sort of krytonite gas in those bullets he makes. He is counting on Superman to catch it when it is fired. The bullet will explode in his hand and he will breath in the gas to weaken him.
