Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

I guess he's just following in the footsteps of Nolan and Rocksteady and Miller

That gadget in the BvS trailer is the same kind of gadget that Bale Batman used in The Dark Knight: a sticky bomb launcher

The Miller one is a grappling hook. It was meant to play with the reader's expectations. The gun at the end of the trailer isn't like that; it just seemed a little weird. I wasn't particularly keen on the Nolan/Rocksteady armaments myself either.

I just realized that Thanos will be most likely in tje Justice League movie, too.

Is Justice League coming about before Infinity War? If so, lol at Darkseid beating Thanos to facing down the Justice League.

I wonder how Darkseid will look though. I've never been much of a fan of his design.

The entire point of Doomsday is that he's an unstoppable force that can't be reasoned with. That's why Batman didn't come anywhere near him in the original DOS storyline, because he would have gotten squashed. At best he can defend himself and try not to die.

Nailed it. Doomsday, as he was written (who knows about the movie just yet), doesn't have any weaknesses. That's why the DOS storyline was a knockout brawl to the finish.

I really hope they take a page from Smallville... build him up in this movie ever so slightly. The being that feeds on fear in humanity.

It'd be dope if Green Lantern was out earlier and it really was a space buddy cop that served in part to set up Darkseid as a massive threat. Green Lantern isn't slated to come out until after Justice League though, I think, so that won't happen.

Maybe they can with it in The Flash films though by going into the future or something.

DC won't be able to treat Darkseid like Marvel has treated Thanos. He can't be looming in the background for 6-7-8 films without doing anything at all. They need to expedite his appearance but juggle that with maintaining quality storytelling. Tall order, but they'll be better off for it if they pull it off.

They need his first appearance to be him showing off his great power. Right out of the gate establish the threat.

That was a terrible interpretation of him.

Darkseid is tyranny personified. His very goal is to rob all sentient life of the ability to think for itself, to twist and bend everything until they are a slave to his will.

Honestly, as much of a mindfuck as the story is, the core set up of Final Crisis would be a great take on Darkseid. He's already on Earth, he's already figured out the Anti-life Equation, and he's spreading this virus-like mind control through the population, turning civilization against itself. It would be a really cool unique scenario.

The rest of Final Crisis is of... varying quality, but that core scenario is cool as fuck.

Yes, batman has a thing against guns. They killed his parents when he was a child and it made him hate them and swore never to use one.

He never swore to not use a gadget that shoots projectiles. Not to mention, his fucking batmobile is full of shit that explodes other shit. We don't know what the "gun" does. It could have a fucking big chunk of kryptonite inside of a huge lead encased rifle-looking gadget to kill Doomsday.. Would you trust anyone else with the shot? He's fucking batman.

I really don't understand why people get so offended when live action movies or shows don't go 100% full comic. It fucking never happens anyway. For example, in the movies Wolverine is 6'2 and never wears his iconic mask and uniform. Their movie, their story, and you're still going to watch it.

If it bothers you that much when a comic movie isn't true to its roots, just think of the multiverse.. The movie is just from an alternate universe

And I loved the trailer btw, as I said like 30 pages ago

I don't think Batman should have an aversion to using guns.

Perhaps in his early career, but I'd say Batman not using guns should come from the same place as him not using knives; he doesn't want to kill people. But if he's trapped in a rapidly flooding room I'd like to think he'd pick up a pistol and use it to get out.

That said Batman's probably using a sound-wave gun, like he does in The Dark Knight Returns.

EDIT:
Oh, it's a
grenade launcher
? That's a bit weird. Standard military stuff.

Isn't that it? I don't mean use the Smallville plot, but I liked the idea that he fed and got stronger off fear.

Well if you're fighting something that can't die...it's not exactly deadly force anymore

I don't think they're dumb enough to REALLY spoil the act 3 big bad in a movie trailer.

So if it actually ends with that, I'm going to be sorely disappointed. I'm going in expecting there's more to it.

How much do you think they can cram into one movie? Clark and Bruce, Super vs Batman fight, Luthor, Doomsday, Wonder Woman stuff, Aquaman cameo, you think they can pull off another villaib with dignity? I don't.

Bold prediction:

Act 1 is settting up how the big 2 dislike each other.
Act 2 is going to be the lead up to their fight, setting up Lex and Wonder Woman along the way.
Act 3 is their fight, where they gain mutual respect for one another, get interrupted by Not Hulk, and then team up against the big bad.

Yeap, that's exactly what I thought too. The trailer pretty much spoiled the whole movie and I'm extremely pissed off about it.

despite my dislike of Snyder, I was actually getting hyped based on the previous trailers. although I still thought they were debuting too many things in one movie (new Batman, WW, Lex Luthor, possibly other JL members)

But now Doomsday, too? Too much. And although we knew B/S would eventually get along, the marvel humor dialogue kinda ruined the tension the previous trailers had. We went from "Do you bleed? You will." to "I thought she was with you".

The movie is still almost 4 months away, and I already feel like I know too much

still, day 1

The likeliest of scenarios, but I have to believe the studio cannot be that dumb to summarize the entire movie in a trailer for a huge tent pole movie like this. It's so polar opposite to the new Star Wars non-info dump.

*snicker*

And thank God for that. Thanos really needs to get off his big purple ass already.

IDK, I'd rather the roles reversed. Darkseid is best as a behind the scenes manipulator. In theory he should be so powerful that having a slugfest with him shouldn't even be possible (unless you want to get vaporized while he casually stands there with his hands behind his back).

Thanos meanwhile is powerful but not beyond a good throwdown.

This reminds me that the trailers for both Amazing Spider-Man movies included the very final shots of both movies.

Well there's no way out of these without making the movie worse than now since there's also a Superman/Batman fight going on.

Either they have Doomsday fight in act 2 and then Superman/Batman fight in act 3 (which make less sense), or they cram both Doomsday & Superman/Batman fight in act 2 and something else for act 3.

They could build up Darkseid by not usung him at all. Get Granny Goodness, Desaad and Godfrey on the case in enrirely different movies of different heroes and build up the thing bigger than them without showing.

As I've said before nobody really knows anything. You know events that begin but not how they end. No one knows who wins in the Batman/Superman fight. No one knows what Diana is doing there. No one knows if Lex loses his hair or is already bald. No one knows what the significance of the desert sequence is. No one knows how they contain Doomsday. No one knows if Batman and Superman are even done fighting by Act 3. They could just be playing nice for the moment to deal with Lex/Doomsday. No one knows what happens to Lex.

You have basically zero information other than "I saw them standing there". I don't recall anyone being spoiled they showed some of the Batman/Superman fight scenes in the last "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer.

It's lazy trolling. I'd rather this shit go back to balding Cavill and Fatfleck because at least there was some kind of ground to stand on there.

This. I'm hoping they don't even use him in the upcoming Justice League movie. I'd rather they use Braniac for that, maybe throw Vandal Savage into one of the movies, I'd like to see how they deal with someone who's truly immortal.

When Darkseid actually does show up, I want him to completely decimate the League to the point where they're forced to ask Luthor for help. Maybe he still has a piece of Braniac somewhere and uses that to find a way to defeat him.

The only questions that matters:

Will we get a Batman Beyond film?

Will we get a Court of Owls film?

Will Superman act anything like he does in All Star Superman?

Will we get a Mark Hamill cameo?

I think that the fight is going to take longer than that; might even be more than one clash. I'd say:

Act 1: Set up conflict, introduce Lex/Wondy/Bats
Act 2: Conflict begins, matures
Act 3: Conflict comes to a head, gets interrupted

Truly the biggest mystery of this film.

Come on dude, we may not know the details of the connective tissue, but the main story beats and broadstrokes of the plot are pretty clearly laid out in these trailers.

I would like it to be Orion who kills him. After all, in the comic books the prophecy is that Orion is going to be the one who kills him and that's why Darkseid is afraid of him. They should have a battle that shows they are several levels above anyone in the JLA when it comes to power. I doubt it happens though since DC seems to only care about Darkseid when it comes to New Gods mythology

No

Maybe

Addressed below

No

All-Star Supes is a Superman at the height of his influence and power. He's mature, experienced, and settled. It would be downright strange for Cavill Supes to act like that. Set expectations for ending up at DCAU Supes by the end of this movie.

As for Darkseid, the word from Devin (whose BvS scoops have been on point) is that
Darkseid is the villain of JL2.

When Lex says: "The red capes are coming..." why is cape in plural? That line didn't make sense to me since the only one who wears a red cape is Supes... I'm firmly in the Bizarro camp.
Batgod actually beats Bizarro.

Seeing as how LexCorp, Wayne Enterprises and StarLab pretty much make all the tech in the DC universe, you gotta be living under one hell of a rock to not know who Bruce Wayne is.

I can excuse him for not immediately recalling Bruce Wayne's face though.
They are like American ISPs. Clark is stuck in LexCorp territory, so there's no Wayne Enterprises there.

And of course, you can still use the small, junky companies, like Kord or Queen, but why?

The You must be new/Bruce Wayne line sounded ADR'd to hell and back. I wouldn't be surprised if the question is in regard to Diana's arrival at the event and the line is specifically included just for the narrative they're trying to tell in the trailer.

When Lex says: "The red capes are coming..." why is cape in plural?

A reference to "the redcoats are coming", attributed to Paul Revere, also having the double meaning of Superman's arrival being a beacon for other meta-beings to come out of the shadows.

I'd think the implication is "before you know it, you're going to have a ton of these superpowered weirdos who won't have to respect government authority, let alone the potential of them invading."

It's a reference to Paul Revere, except instead of "the English are coming," (aka. the red coats) it's the "red capes."

Because it's a play on "The Red Coats are coming". He's using Superman in the plural to put forward the notion that he's only the beginning, there will be more coming out of the wood work.
