I didn't feel like I watched the entire movie after watching the Winter Solider or GoTG trailers. (I don't remember the Iron Man 3 ones) One of the reasons why I tend to like DC movies is because they have strong villains but they look godawful in this. Lex Luthor is.. let's face it, TERRIBLY miscast and Doomsday's design is uninspiring.

I would say have another look at those trailers and think about what happens in those films. That's certainly the case with Winter Solider. GoTG might be a bit better at it but to be honest I haven't seen that film as often as the others but for certain the big battle from the end of that film is certainly in that trailer.

I'm still waiting to see how Lex evolves. Personally I would have liked a version from the cartoon that was voiced by Clancy Brown. That's my Lex as they say but I'm open to new versions. I don't think we've ever gotten the mad scientist Lex in live action and I think that might be what we're getting here and that's a different Lex compared to just the straight up businessman version.

I still believe Doomsday's look evolves over the fight and they're still holding that back.

They didn't kill the Batman v Superman dramatic tension, because there never was any. We all know how that ends. The movie is called Dawn of Justice for heaven's sake.

I also think that some people were confused by the whole Batman v Superman thing, non-comic book people or little kids who maybe didn't understand the Dawn of Justice reference, and so they're clarifying that they're not turning one of these guys into a villain or something.

It's honestly probably a necessary thing to have done in terms of selling the movie.

As a comic book reader I would have been more interested in them using one of the stories where the heroes fighting IS the climax, and the making up part happens without them needing to punch some other guy. As I posted above, that's what Civil War did. That's also how TDKR ends (with a twist of course). So comics awareness might actually be what had people hoping the fight would be the climax.

I think WB has it right here, though, going by the reaction of my friends and family who aren't comics readers. They're mostly baffled by the very idea that Batman and Superman would be ideologically opposed and fight each other. They probably needed to reassure those people.
