Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

Imagine Dwayne Johnson playing this version of Lex. Instantly likeable, the general population would trust him when he starts talking down on Superman etc.

I'd love to be wrong about Eisenberg/this whole movie.

I love Dwayne but I don't think he could pull off the DCAU Luthor, he's got the size but it'd be hard for him to portray and the audience to accept that Luthor's quiet condescending nature.

"Hi I'm Lex Luger, billionaire genius and also twice the size of Superman"

It's interesting that it looks like they're essentially leveling an entire city, again.

I know MoS had a lot of hate because they're was so much destruction, yet so little apprehension about it. Hopefully that's taken into effect here.
Buildings looks abandoned/empty

If it underperforms, it'll be too late to do that much in the way of course correction on SS or WW. That's the risk of being so aggressive with a cinematic universe right out of the gate.

Why are movie studio's so impatient? Why can't they follow the MCU and start with one GOOD film, then take it slow with a couple more decent ones and build from there?

Because the entire theme of the trailer (and the title of the movie) is Batman v. Superman. That's what they build up. Then, out of nowhere, "Oh wait--Lex changes everything!" and they team up. It was just a sudden tone change.

Don't be so defensive.

How am I being defensive? I just said it wasn't out of nowhere to me. Any idiot would know that Batman and Superman would stop fighting each other and move on to a common enemy.

But it is out of nowhere. Doomsday isnt created from Kryptonian DNA/corpses. That's Bizzaro's current origin.

Good lord man, we don't even have confirmation it is Doomsday. Even if it was his comic origin should have nothing to do with whether or not he felt "out of nowhere" in the trailer

Man.....

This doesnt look that great.....

They are trying to do too much in a 2 hour long movie. This movie looks like they are rushing to get to the justice league movie.

I'm still hyped for the movie but... that trailer was meh. The whole scene at the beginning was too long and kind of awkward (why is Lex so happy that a multimillionaire Bruce Wayne is talking to a journalist?), the editing was weird and the ending unnecessarily spoiled the big twist.

That was much better.

Because audience (and studios) don't want to wait 4 years (or more if you count one of the Hulk movies as the first in MCU) and a couple of good to terrible movies to finally bring the movie that everyone is waiting for. I, for once, am glad that WB skipped the whole Batman (yet another) origin movie, Wonder Woman origin movie (well, we will get that after BvS), Aquaman origin movie etc.

Does anyone find it interesting that Batman in this movie seems to share the same opinion on Superman that Lex typically does? Maybe he's where Eisenberg Lex gets his Superman hate boner from

I question whether people watch the trailer.

1) Lex Luthor is stirring shit between Kent and Wayne AND Batman/Superman.
2) Alfred tells Bruce that going to war with that 'son of a bitch' is suicide.
3) Superman tells Batman if he wanted to kill him, he'd be dead.
4) Lex realises they're going to eventually join forces, so decides 'fuck it, kill them both.'

Not really out of nowhere if you put basic thought into it.

But we live in a weird world where people still think Marvel have built Thanos up as a threat in the MCU, so fuck knows at this point.

I have to say I did LOL at that last part.

Regardless, I'm no comic fanboy all I know is that was a horrible trailer that seemed to spoil the entire movie. That Civil War trailer had me hyped as fuck and I have no idea what "Civil War" is and besides Winter Soldier have thought the last few Marvel movies have been contrite assembly line products.

Man of Steel came out in 2013, this comes out 3 years later and isn't even Justice League.

Batman and Wonder Woman each need their own film before even thinking of doing a crossover/team up. There is just so much about the characters' backstory and personality you have to build up. To try to do both that AND do a crossover at the same time, in just one 2 hour film, is just asking for an rushed mess.

And like I said, the MCU started with Iron Man, which got good reviews from both critics and fans. MoS has polarized both and based on BO general audience reaction was pretty "meh" as well.

No they don't. MCU isn't the only route to use. They're introducing the characters first, then they're getting individual movies

I'd totally watch Superman v. Godzilla lol.

I would too.
But i'm a geek, and love crossover shit like that.

I would say most people don't fucking know who Doomsday is or will care that he was shown in the trailers. All they know is Batman, Supes and WW are fighting this thing.

I wonder if that gun is powered by Kryptonite or Red Sun radiation, because if it's a regular-ass gun, it doesn't make any sense.

I honestly liked it, and it's OK they won't be using Doomsday for an eventual "Death of Superman" film, I mean, seriously, it never made any sense that Doomsday could kill him in the first place.

Oh my good GOD.

BATMAN DOES NOT NEED A SOLO FILM. People know who Batman is. He does not need ANOTHER origin story, considering in the last 25 years he's had THREE origin stories in live-action (Batman, Batman Begins, Gotham) and a regular stream of animated shows/animated films/computer games. I think at this point people know who Batman is.

C'mon. Batman already had 7 movies, including a trilogy that's not so old (2005 - 2012). Everyone and their grandmas already know the story of little Bruce Wayne whose parents were murdered by a bunch of bandits which turned him into a dark vigilante. There's also a whole TV series about young Bruce and the young selves of his villains. We don't need yet another Batman origin movie exploring his past and character.

It's funny how MCU made people believe that their route is the only correct one. Especially since the first Avengers movie spends the first act of the movie reintroducing all characters.

I'd totally watch Superman v. Godzilla lol.

It's a shame dc separated from legendary. Superman could have crossed over with 2014 godzilla.

This, probably.

Movie origin brah.

:(

I know, but if everyone, is gonna throw the Doomsday label around, then I'll throw the Bizzaro one, lol. I don't "think" they'd deviate too too much from a villian origin but then that Lex Luthor, ugh.

I was enjoying the trailer until the stupid Supergirl bullshit. They basically just mapped out the whole movie. It just looks like Luther causes Batman and Superman to go after each other while he creates a superweapon (Doomsday) and then everyone just teams up at the end to save the day.

We didn't need to see them teaming up already. It's called Batman vs Superman and you're already showing us how the "vs" part ends. I'm sure we all assumed that already but why show it in a trailer?

:(

You do realise Luthor is updated each decade to fit in with how billionaires are percieved, right?

Come on, it's Doomsday. Big hulking grey monster with bone growths coming out of its skin.

It's Doomsday. Well, this movie's version of Doomsday. Which if anything, works best here because it makes Supes's decision to kill Zod hurt him even more

I'm sure Doomsday couldn't be kept under wraps until release. Shit, rumour-wise I think many of us knew about it months ago.

I still would have preferred if they teased that out though. The roar was enough.

Because he probably knows very well who they are

It's called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The name itself shows they're teaming up at the end.

FrankenZod looks cool. Doomsday is an awful 'character' so I'd be glad if he's never referred to as such.

I'm glad they are addressing Doomsday this early on. There are better villains in the JL universe. I actually like how they connected Zod to Doomsday origin in this movie's universe.

Stand alone = origin story. I agree, Batman does not need an origin story (WW does, but thats a nother can of worms). What he does need is his own film establishing what type his role in the shared universe. Make it a standard detective story, something that shows off Batman's brains (something IMO no film has done properly yet except MAYBE TDK). Show how he will fit in the JLA team dynamic.

And also, the reason the MCU method is seen to be the "correct" one is because its the only method that has actually WORKED thus far.

You do realise Luthor is updated each decade to fit in with how billionaires are percieved, right?

If that's the case, why isn't Bruce Wayne a bumbling, hysterical looking idiot then?

Lex Luthor shouldn't be Joker-Lite. With the exception of the Reeve movies he's generally come off as imposing, deadly, and intelligent. Like Donald Trump without the significantly worse wig.
