I have no idea what this thread is about half the time anymore.

So is that Doomsday for sure, or are people just throwing that name on this thing because greenish and spiky?

naming him, but Faraci and other reporters had been saying it for a while, and he's been on the money for a lot of things with this film. If you really want to know more about the film beyond trailers you can look up his tweets, though keep in mind he's a huge marvel fan, going insofar as to say Age of Ultron would make all other films retro, and sticking to those guns after it came out.

What pisses me off the most is that Marvel doesn't get nearly as much hate.

They have plenty of mediocre movies yet they are universally loved on GAF.

They should just rename this forum to MarvelGAF

There is no doubt BvS is gonna make bank. Look at all that are defending the trailer like it was their child. Everyone is gonna watch it regardless. I'm just more concerned with the quality of the film. The last two trailers has me worried beyond belief.

If it sucks, I'm going to liken it to Jurrasic World - a movie that made a crapton of money and didn't deserve it.

Marvel has earned enough good will for the mediocre ones to be over looked. DC hasn't proven itself yet.

Also make an AOU thread and tell me you'll get universal love.

Nah, I found the pattern that the marvel love is the same ten or so guys over and over again. I suppose it's the same here. However there IS a strong case of DC hate. Look, this thread is almost catching th Civil War one in a lot less time, but it's filled with hate. All publivity is good publicity I guess.

It's just a bandwagon. People will turn on Marvel the second something looks to be more successful.

This movie could have some really strong opening segments. Batman's introduction might be fighting those goons from the first trailer and branding that guy in Gotham. Maybe we'll get a surprise B-villain out of that.

Superman has a couple different scenes where he appears to be saving people or getting shit done.

Putin, is this yours?

Looks like they'll make a bigger deal of him saving people from post-fight wreckage in general.

Snyder/Fong combo is a beautiful thing btw.

Should have been two short trailers highlighting this.

One pro Batman ethics/viewpoint.
One pro Superman.
Both ending with that Clark-Bruce introduction.

Would have been two different themes and emphasised the opposite ideals going into the film.

I'm gonna have the serious weigh-in Joe Rogan face on throughout the entire movie. Don't care who's with me, they won't exist.

Same here, probably seen every superhero movie on the big screen in the last 10 years. But the little things people nitpick about is really annoying on these forums.

You had me laughing there btw lol.

even the director's cut, even moreso.

my problem is that snyder slavishly made a carbon copy of the comic for the screen, and nothing more. like i said, he's style over substance.
I won't deny his emphasis on style, but the movie clearly resonated, it's pretty much a cult movie now.

That was kind of the point, was it not? They said the GN was impossible to film. Then he filmed it and it was pretty damn faithful to the book outside of the ending.

Which was better.

I love that they're making Superman look like a God. As it should. There is some greekness to his shots compared to the noob shots of MoS

Oh you're right haha, that was a long time ago, wasn't it.

Your constant use of the word "noob" makes it difficult to take much stock of your opinion.

Maybe it's in the movie. Snyder likes his montages.
I'm not a mother language english speaker, dude with the Cris Pratt avatar #34534.

Not bad lol

I will say this week, I learned a lot of people apparently either really like Doomsday's design or... just hate change

Because not sure why the discussion, he is a terribly designed character in comics... and I honestly.. don't know why the big who how about him looking terrible in the movie because he looks terrible in any medium.

I'm happy they are doing him here, use him and toss him out. Such an one-note character

I loved how Timm gave no damns... tossed him out as a random gag in Justice League then just made him a mindless grunt in JLU with this amazing motivation

it wasn't nearly as culturally relevant as the comic book was in its time. it's a film without an identity of its own outside "hey it's a movie version".

Eh, only because this trailer fits with your girlfriend, it doesnt mean it fits with the masses.

I just meant that she is the epitome of your average movie watcher. Like, she's not into amazing story lines or deep character development. She just wants something fun. She genuinely enjoyed the trailer

Keep that girl man. She sounds awesome.

Everyone that I showed the trailer to hated it.

I feel like a lot of people watch the trailer trying to analyze it or something. She just sat there watching, enjoying the spectacle. If you are just casually watching it with no investments in the characters or universe then I just can't see why you would hate it. It's two big superheroes duking it out for 3 minutes

Maybe she was just trying to make you happy by telling you what you want to hear?

I wish she did that for me lol.

Eh, his design has never been particularly good but that doesn't mean the movie version has to be bad. If they're going to take liberties with the original design, might as well improve it instead of going in the other direction. The bad CG doesn't help either. Like others have postulated, hopefully he changes appearance as the fight goes on.

Ooh that would have been really good. I could see the trailers ending with like "what side are you on" dun dun dunnnnnnnn

Err, no, the only ones that are universally loved are the usual suspects (Avengers, Winter Soldier, Guardians). Age of Ultron got plenty of shit here just this year.

On the DC side, Man of Steel got a very mixed reception so is it really odd that the sequel by the same director is getting a similar reaction?

Plus, didn't TDK just get crowned GAF's no. 1 superhero movie a couple months ago?

Getting pissed off about any of this is kind of ridiculous anyway :lol

If they did that Gaf would bitch that DC was stealing from Marvel. DC can't win.

Maybe if they had jumped on that marketing bandwagon first, it'd go the other way around. They haven't been pushing that narrative as hard though since this movie is as much about the proto-justice league as it is about the clash of titans.

Kinda hoping he either evolves throughout the movie or fight, or that he's a alpha or beta version of Doomsday. I know Doomsday is pretty one note, but I think that's what would make him a suitable villain for a 2 hour movie. He doesn't require much build up or backstory, unlike Darkseid, or even Mongul. He's basically a force of nature.

I'm guessing this Doomsday is created from Zod's cells (by Lexcorp or S.T.A.R.Labs) like the JLU version which was created from Superman's. or might be a reanimated/mutated Zod corpse.

Why

Why on God's Earth is Batman branding the criminals he stops

How could Snyder have such a fundamental misunderstanding of the character

And who is berten?

The asshole who created Doomsday, Doomsday is fucking cruel shit, Bertron created a child and left it on Krypton's harsh environment to die over and over, with each death he clone it over and over again removing all the weakness from the previous death, until Doomsday was able to over come all, and every time Doomsday dies he learns from that death and becomes invulnerable to whatever killed him..

Doomsday is the perfect villain for a hero-focused movie. He barely needs any screen time for character development, just his origin and sense of a looming threat.

Civil War ( comic) is the basis for "whose side are you on?" superhero stories. That predates BvS.

There's no way this could possibly be true. Civil War was released in 2006. You mean to tell me the idea of superheroes fighting each other went from 1938 all the way to 2006 before being materialized?
