It's over they've already won this year's SDCC with about 3 minutes of panel time. Unlike Marvel who will use a bunch of 2nd rate stand-up comedians who'll work for a cheap paycheck to fill up the rest of the panel.

That's about the only valid reason he has for putting the effort in to challenge an alien to a death duel, and not putting the effort in to see that said alien is a good guy.

Cue a 10 minute fight where neither character addresses that they're on the same side. If Superman throws a legit punch at Batman, this early in them meeting, he might as well be a different character. If Batman is stupid enough to not deduce that they should be friends, his parents might as well be alive.

The only reasonable way this would pan out is Superman declaring "Hey, Bruce, go home" before switching off the batsignal and going back to Metropolis.

Not really.

Maybe people are used to crappy comic book reasoning (I wouldn't know since I haven't read them), but if something like Superman showed up, it would take a lot of effort and convincing to show he's not a potential threat or risk. There are 7 billion people in this world, and someone who has enough strength that he's more destructive than a nuclear weapon wouldn't be taken to easily in reality. Most people would be scared out of their mind, and governments would likely want to catch and cripple his ass. Especially after some alien after his ass wandered to Earth and tore one of their biggest cities a new asshole causing who knows how many deaths, as well as untold damage elsewhere on Earth. His mere existence is cause for conflict.

And for all we know, someone like Batman may just be assessing whether he's worth being worried about or not.

There are plenty of ways to write their conflict for a second act resolution, or even carry it through to the Justice League, so I've no idea why you're so baffled by it.

Funny thing is this fight most likely isn't going to be the finale. Going to be the midpoint or the break into three.

Movie is going to be epic.

I don't think people will be able to contain themselves if they finally showcase the trailer of Superman/Batman fucking each other up.

If WB has any sense in their marketing, they shouldn't show any of the actual fight in the trailers. The tease from just before the showdown like this is enough.
