My favourite tracks are; Be Still, Flesh and Bone, Miss Atomic Bomb, Deadlines and Commitments, and; Here with Me.

The songs I hate the most are;
Heart of a Girl
and
Battle Born

Man, the first 7 tracks are all legitimately great. Not many albums released this year could say that. Though I do think the album loses its momentum after that. Flesh and Bone, A Matter of Time, and Miss Atomic Bomb would be the highlights for me. Really liking the bonus track Carry Me Home too. I expected the album to be good, but not THIS damn good. I think based off two listens I'd rank the albums as: Hot Fuss > Sam's Town > Battle Born > Day & Age. But I do love them all.

It's really hard for me having to choose to listen to this or the new Grizzly Bear album. They're both just so great.

I've listened through 4 or 5 times and I just don't really like it at all. Frustrating considering I loved all of their other albums. I considered them one of my favorite bands, but nothing is doing it for me on this album.

Got it pared down, I think. This would fit on an 80 minute CD:

1. Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine
2. Mr. Brightside
3. Smile Like You Mean It
4. Somebody Told Me
5. All These Things That I've Done
6. Sam's Town
7. When You Were Young
8. Bling (Confessions Of A King)
9. For Reasons Unknown
10. Read My Mind
11. Bones
12. Human
13. Spaceman
14. A Dustand Fairytale
15. Flesh And Bone
16. Runaways
17. A Matter Of Time
18. Deadlines And Commitments
19. Miss Atomic Bomb

19 tracks - 5 from Hot Fuss, 6 from Sam's Town, 3 from Day And Age, 5 from Battle Born.

I've said it before, I want to share a beer with you. I'll probably say it again.

How could anyone hate Battle Born? It sounds like a long lost Queen song. Love it

Yeah, sorta agreed about Battle Born. I can groove to it, but it feels obnoxious at the same time.

Love pretty much all of the rest of the album.

I'd replace All These Things That I've Done and Bling with All the Pretty Faces and Under the Gun (rounding out the album with two from Sawdust.)

The Forever Young cover stands out immediately.

Yeah, when the stream came back and they were wrapping up playing "Forever Young" I was like "oh shit I hope they post the whole show so I can catch the whole song. And then they've cut it out. :'(

Looks like the Boston concert is sold out... about to buy some floor tickets on stubhub.

It's really, really hard to choose, but I think my favorite might be Flesh and Bone, although at some points it has less energy than the live performance I was listening to.

After listening to it some more, I think it is my least favorite of the four albums. I'd say:

Hot Fuss>Sam's Town>Day & Age>Battle Born

Though Hot Fuss and Sam's Town are kind of a toss up for me. I do enjoy them all though. Flesh and Bone remains my favorite track on this album.

I've listened to the album 3 times now, and my absolute favorites are Flesh and Bone, Runaways, A Matter Of Time, Dealines and Commitments, MAB, and Battle Born.

It's amazing how this album varies song to song from being Springsteen-ish (Runaways), U2-ish (Flesh And Bone), Journey-ish (Here With Me), Queen-ish (Battle Born), etc. And then of course there are tracks which are very Killers-ish (A Matter Of Time).

Solo, you're missing Shadowplay from their b-sides bro!

I decided to omit Sawdust and stick to the studio albums to keep it under 80 minutes. Wanted to actually burn a CD to have in my car.

no. no. no. and further no. the killers are their own shit. any of those influences are okay, but that is not what they are (to me). i cant stand U2. i cant stand springsteen. not a bit. you would not catch me dead wit any of their records in my car. however, i've always loved the killers. i think they've got a couple classics on this one, but overall not up to par with the rest of their catalogue.

and what song on here is journey-ish? talking about real journey. these kids will never touch journey, solo. to say so is damn near blasphemy.

It seems to me that there is a simple point A to point B reasoning here as to why you don't like this album then. It's CLEARLY influenced by those artists, and you don't like those artists.

There are also elements of Tom Petty and Meatloaf there too.

but what about the fact that people have always said that they've been influenced by those artists? and that i've never really heard it in THE KILLERS.

example: look at "read my mind". i see some lurking influences, but they dont really matter, because at the end of the day when READ MY MIND starts shredding, its all killers. its not u2. its not springsteen.. its some raw sexy rock shit.

further edit: nothing on battle born comes close to touching that song. not even CLOSE.

You reading way too much into my post. Battle Born is the Killers through and through, just like the previous albums. Its just that they are expanding their horizons and wearing their influences prominently on their sleeve.

I call Runaways Springsteen-esque, but Bruce Springsteen couldn't possible write that song. Only Brandon Flowers could. Killers to the core. Its been 4 years between albums. These guys are aging, maturing, and their style is evolving.

And for the record, I'll take Runaways over Read My Mind. Although both are amazing tracks.

I hope they play A Matter Of Time, D&C and Battle Born live at some point. They only played Flesh, Runaways, MAB and Here With Me in NYC - I bet you those 4 will be the singles from the album.

Man, I'd like every single song on the album had they cut Heart Of A Girl and replaced it with Carry Me Home, and cut Be Still and replaced it with Prizefighter.

I discovered today that I had never listened to Change your mind, since it wasn't in my edition of Hot Fuss.

And I love it. So I bought an UK edition of the album, ha!

Runaways and The Way it Was are my current favorites.

Edit: That Letterman vid is amazing. Have to agree with some of the comments, one of the best live performances I have heard :O
