It's like fighting games, now they charge for characters, in the past you had to rebuy the game over and over to get the updates.lol and not like DICE didn't release many an expansion pack before 2006.
it's also what customers expect, and want. If devs don't update the game regularly gamers move on. The live update process is part of the development. I also think it can be a good thing. If you release 20 maps, you have 20 maps. If you release with 9, you can adjust the other 11 in response to feedback and they can come out better than they would have. Of course, that's if the dev gives a shit. BO6 had seasonal map updates and all the maps in that game suck.Agreed.
They have teams already in place for post launch support. The reality is, realistically...most are not going to be playing no 20 fucking maps day 1. 9 maps is more then good enough to launch, especially with new ones being added a month in. I don't even buy that anyone can even fully enjoy, learn, memorize or even get the most out of those maps in such a time frame, where it MUST launch with 20 or some dumb shit like this.
I simply don't give a fuck, I'll be going HAM on those 9 maps day 1 and by the time they roll out some new maps, they can be fully enjoyed with each release. They are correct to continue the same formula they've had going with having those support teams release content over time
And, they're not charging for it.
