BAYONETTA An Action Game by Hideki Kamiya |OT|

Not surprising in the slightest, but apparently Bayonetta porn is available for sale in Japan. My question is: how are they allowed to sell this? Is the maker protected by some pervy parody law?

I'm surprised Luka is fucking Bayonetta in the ass, I would have expected it to happen the other way around.

I can understand everyones qualms with the game; however, every action game has "what the hell?" type acts or scenarios.
My only complaint with the game was the record finding, seemed like a missed opportunity and where DMC3 excelled over Bayonetta.
There was nothing greater than watching Vergil take Beowulf's gauntlets, and then kicking his ass for them. I would of loved it if Bayonetta let you receive weapons from enemies instead of trade records in at Rodin's. A -0.3 for this and loading for store.
If it matters I played the PS3 version, maybe for the fence sitters?

Score: 9.7/10
Yea, I actually agree with this. They should have handed you the different weapons through the length of the game, especially the whip, ice skates, and rocket launchers, and kept the unlockables for the variations (handguns/shotguns/bazillions/pillowtalk), etc. A friend of mine who rented it isn't going to keep it because he just used the katana the entire time since it's the most powerful. The varied weapons would have made the game a lot more fun on the first playthrough.

Or leave it how it is and have the replay ability shoot through the roof on subsequent playthroughs. I loved the feeling after my first playthrough that I didn't even scratch the surface of the weapons in the game.

best way to farm without the bracelet of time?
Not the best since some people are getting 10mil in under a minute, but an easy and not overly cheap way (at least as far as farming go) -

Chapter 7, durga lightning on arms, just spam punch over and over again.
Try to keep the combo going as long as you can, I don't think you can keep one long combo on that fight, but if you work fast and keep spamming punch (and shot your pistols when there is nothing to punch) you should get at least a couple of really long combos.
If you have Gaze of Despair put it on as it will increase your combo total (I think).

Without trying too hard (I'm not really into farming) I can do around a mil in that chapter on normal (didn't try it on harder difficulties).

Bracelet of time is not all that important, hits in witch time worth a bit more, but that's about it (and if you're good at dodging and have Selena's Light on, you're going to be in witch time for much of that fight anyway).

Just beat it and holy crap is it awesome. I did miss a lot of portals which kinda irks me since I like killing things in this game.

Well then unlock the lost chapter and have fun, that's all you do there.

Why is fixing loading times easy? Isn't it because of poor data arrangement on the disc?

Patch for Mandatory installation.

Recently 3D dot game heroes got a patch which required a mandatory to drastically improve load times. If From Software could implement one post release Sega then can as well.

Made some decent progress tonight. Finally bumped myself from Chapter 3 (been replaying 1-3 for practice, halos, etc.) up to Chapter 6. Trying my best to get every single heart, pearl, and Aflheim portal done in my first pass. Some of these challenges are damn hard though, even on normal. So far so good, however.

Can't believe how much I'm loving the game. Though I'm pretty crappy at it.

the game is much more fun once you unlock all the weapons and techniques. when i started fresh on the PS3, i found myself annoyed with the restrictions cuz i had to collect those LPs all over again.

you unlock the Bracelet of Time, which allows you to trigger Witch-Time whenever you press LB, but it drains magic and disables the normal dodge triggering of Witch-Time.

Which is unusual, since Sega have always taken advantage of the installation feature with their PS3 games.

I guess they assumed that since the Japanese didn't complain about it and the PS3 version sold well they didn't have to worry about it in the west.

I rented this game recently, and am seriously considering purchasing it despite the fact that I finished it entirely within the rental period -- something I don't think I've ever done before with any game. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface and basically just brute-forced my way through the entire game, never buying more than a couple moves and trinkets. Just reading some of the comments in this thread and realizing that none of them even make any sense to me, I'm thinking I've barely scratched the surface of this game.

Are there any good deals to be had on Bayonetta? Anything as good or close to EBGames' $44.99 USED price? This is one of the only times I've ever felt bad about purchasing a used title -- Platinum deserves all the sales they can get, but there aren't any retailers willing to go below the $60 pricetag.

I'd also like to pick up a strategy guide -- any recommendations? It looks like only Future published a guide in the US, and I'm almost tempted to buy the hardcover version that comes out in a week or so. Maybe I should skip the guide and buy a full-priced retail copy, but it's so nice having a book to look through rather than sifting through forum posts and plain-text FAQs.

Do I need to finish the chapter or just beat the Alfhiem's? I want to speed rush the Alf's and just quit out after I'm done beating the last one in a chapter.

I have to play through with Jeanne to get the last one eh? that's kinda weak.

Hell bent on getting 1000/1000 on this.

Oh, but they do complain. They call the port "Brokenetta".

i've just beat the alfheims, exited the screen and quit the chapter, it registered.

Chapter 11 Help Request: There's this bridge that you have to hit a bunch of times to lay out but it retracts instantly. There are some statues in the back and I figure I need to use it to go into witch time to run back to the bridge and have time to cross it, but once I get to the bridge and start hitting it, my witch time has already worn off. How in the fuck do I cross this bridge it's been annoying the shit out of me.

after you start the countdown for the witch time, don't hit x/square straight away and instead start walking over towards the bridge, pop witch time when you're right in front of it and wail on the bastard

Oh shit I didn't know you could run away from the statue and THEN start it. THANK YOU.

The fucking game never really explained that to me very well.

Just beat the giant boss in the ocean (chapter 13). There are just no words. What the fuck do you have to be on to even think of something like that?

Kodiak

Not an asshole.
Man I bought Bayonetta today because I fucking wanted to.

I can't remember the last time such a pure discovery > purchase > pure gameplay bliss happened, though it was probably Bioshock.

Most game purchases these days are bought aboard the hype train express, but lately I've not been on GAF or enthusiast sites nearly as much as I used to, and I'm discovering games purely from word of mouth and fun demos.

I highly suggest toning down your GAF and 1up consumption because it greatly enhances your enjoyment of the medium when you don't have 1,000 other opinions and hypepasta floating around your skull when you play a new game.

Any chapter that is over ten minutes long (and that isn't chapter 8 or 14), you can shave. Just remember to panther through between mandatory verses as fast as you can, because the clock doesn't stop between verses.

One trick that I discovered you can use on Chapter 3 for a massive time saving: the part underground where the rocks fall and smash the bridge, forcing you to go through the portal to Paradiso for the hourglass is completely unnecessary if you have Crow Form unlocked. It might take a few tries, but you can panther jump and fly across the gap without being knocked down by lava, and continue the level without using the Paradiso portal at all.

you don't need to do that. during the last chapter you will get the opportunity to do that without having to actually
unlock Jeanne. You play as Jeanne during the beginning of the Epilogue.

Interesting tidbit: I was trying to figure out how to do the different short taunts (
"Do you want to touch me?" vs "Your halo is mine"
). I've heard Bayonetta say the 'halo' line exactly once, so I assumed it was just super rare. But when
using Jeanne
during chapter 14, I found she consistently said
"Bitch, please"
at one point, and then always used
"You motherfucker!"
a few minutes later. I figured there must be a trick to it that I wasn't getting. So I just googled it, and apparently the short taunts are weapon specific. That's just going by a single post in another forum so it's uncorroborated, but I'm looking forward to trying it out next time I play. Can anyone here verify this? And are there more than two short taunts per character?

From what I can tell, every weapon you equip in your hands has a different taunt.

this

With 360 being the lead platform this game doesnt need too much bluray space, even a full HDD install would be an option (though it doesnt make too much sense).

The japanese producers don't give a damn about porn parodies. They could sue the authors, as it's a violation of copyright laws, but they don't.

A bit of warning about the PS3 release of Bayonetta. Originally i thought i wouldn't be put off by the load times (mentioned in all the reviews) because i put up with some crazy a$$ load times from games like Legacy of Kain and still managed to enjoy every minute of it. But the load times between levels isn't the biggest issue in Bayonetta.

The biggest issue is the load times in-between the time you die and the time you start again. If you come across a difficult patch in the game and keep dying over and over, ur going to be waiting a long time because the load times are ridiculous here. I can put up with load times between levels because its not very often you go to the next level but the load times between the time you die and time you start again just kills it for me. It's still a great game for the PS3 but the load times are very very annoying.

Regarding the actual gameplay, i haven't noticed any significant slow down even when there's lot of crazy things happening on screen. So i think there's no worries here in this department. It's the load times that are killer. :(

p.s. the boss fights in this game are ridiculously imaginative and insane :D

A funny thing in this chapter that I wouldn't have noticed without the comments on the developer's blog :
Sapientia's wings are shaped like motorbike handles... which explains all the "grab it by the wings, drive it to the spider monster" part.
