am i the only one who really hate the music of this game?

I had a post earlier in the thread where I called the music atrocious after playing the demo. After putting more time into the game, the music doesn't bother nearly much as I thought it would, if at all. I even found myself humming along to the Fly Me to the Moon remix every once in a while.

The biggest issue is the load times in-between the time you die and the time you start again. If you come across a difficult patch in the game and keep dying over and over, ur going to be waiting a long time because the load times are ridiculous here. I can put up with load times between levels because its not very often you go to the next level but the load times between the time you die and time you start again just kills it for me. It's still a great game for the PS3 but the load times are very very annoying.
Yes especially annoying as this is the most lazy programming where no loading should be necessary at all. Or maybe they want to punish you for dying? Would be even worse.

Just got the game in today..Didn't really get to play aside from watching a fucking long cutscene about some dude and bayonetta in a graveyard. Then I got to fuck some shit up. Which was fun. Cutscene didn't make any fucking sense though :\.

Almost finished my first run of the PS3 version. The load times are annoying, but the gameplay is fully intact...don't let it dissuade you from picking up this gem. It is epic beyond belief, and pwns every other action game out there right now. Best boss fights I've ever seen, and I feel like I've only scratched the surface with the moves as i haven't unlocked many weapons. Wow...just....wow. I had so many jaw-dropping moments.

If you guys are skipping the cutscenes, you'll miss out on alot of the sega and capcom references. And I love the music. More original than the typical stuff in these types if games.

the music is fantastic. the 'fly me to the moon' brings back memories of Evangelion :D

yeah its by far the dumbest programming technique they used. what game loads that long in between the time you die and start again? its not like the game has to re-load a completely new map or area. ur reloading the same godamn area where you just died :p shouldn't they already have that in memory already or something? argh :p

good to know.

I downloaded both versions and compared.
- 360 version has much better graphic, but the controller feels awkward, the R1 button and the attack button are too close for comfort.
- PS3 version has washed-out color and not as sharp, though not nearly as bad as what others have described here. But the controller feels just perfect.

So I'm still debating which one to get

The demo on the PS3 doesn't show you alot of the annoying loading times during general gameplay. Stuff that loads instantly on the 360 like the equip/item menu had load times or lag on the PS3. Even going to the shop on the PS3 takes a while to load up.

Once again, get the 360 version. You have been warned. :)

i second that. if i had the 360 i would def. get that version. the worst part of the ps3 version is the load times after you die. so if u get to a hard part in the game where you die a lot, u'll have to do lot of waiting. it's really aggravating. its only because the game is so good that i keep on playing. if it was just an average game i would've traded in the ps3 port right away.

Just jumping in to to say that the PS3-version is amazing as well. Normally hate the over-the-top Japanese stuff, but the gameplay of Bayonetta is just way too good to be bothered by this. This plays ridicolously good, has a nice learning curve and is hardcore and accessible at the same time.

ok, can I re-arrange my button configuration in 360? because I definitely want to configure the aim and the attack buttons

Neither version has customizable controls from what I know.

Rodin is extremely underused as a character. It's a shame he wasn't a secret playable character :D
Platinum should make a spiritual successor to God Hand with Rodin as the main character.

It doesn't get any better. I just skipped all the cut-scenes (hold RT, press back button).

People who make statements like "the story didnt make sense" without watching the entire story is a ****in idiot.

These are the same types that judge an entire game based off the 9 month demo.

On the 360 you can adjust the turning speed of the camera and turn on/off inverse axis.

I will argue that there are 2 plotpoints that make little sense probably on purpose (
TIME TRAVEL CHILD KIDNAP JUST BECAUSE and Jeanne puts Bayonetta into a gem for safekeeping displayed in very gritty short sequence to explain what the stabbing was all about or was that not it?
) but yeah not understanding the first cutscene is a sort of eyebrow raise at someones ability to follow words and pictures on the screen. Bayonetta poses as a nun at a funeral to attract angels so she can kill them, and Rodin was also there as bait. Its not Metal Gear, but it gets there later on!

i found the story to make much more sense later in the game. if you can deal with the somewhat long and confusing cutscenes in the beginning then i would watch them. at least they are entertaining.

the game is much more fun once you unlock all the weapons and techniques. when i started fresh on the PS3, i found myself annoyed with the restrictions cuz i had to collect those LPs all over again.

True, but learning the various weapons and techniques needs to be gradual for that first run-through. I would have been completely overwhelmed, otherwise. Besides, going back to earlier stages with new weapons and powers, and securing platinums and pure plats is very satisfying.

Think I'm going to farm some halos and purchase the Crow Within and Bat Within powers before moving on. They look like they're LOTS of fun, and promise to mix things up nicely.

You saw the God Hand reference in the opening cutscene riiight? ;)
Yeah, seeing him use the Home Run God roulette move was great, and that's what made me think he would be perfect for a God Hand style game. Rodin's whole character design kind of reminded me of God Hand. He looks like he would fit right in with the Four Devas.

Oh shit I didn't know you could run away from the statue and THEN start it. THANK YOU.

The fucking game never really explained that to me very well.

The game doesn't explain it, but the obvious 10 second count down should have been a clue. ;p

I don't think it's too bad. It definetly isn't nearly as bad as that horrible Powerman 5000 sounding song that would play in every fight in DMC3. Actually I find it really annoying when they use a song with vocals repeatedly in any game. I think vocals really become grating when the song is played over and over and over.

How do you equip Durga on both Arms & Legs?
it will only let me equip it on one limb at a time
You need to buy the Alt versions of certain weapons from The Gates of Hell to be able to equip them on both hands and feet.

Edit: Beaten

Quick question - I'm on my first run through & have missed some LP shards; if I go back into the levels, do I have to complete them? Or can I just get the shard then quit out?

Loving the music and the main titles. Even moreso because of the singer who I think is fitting the game nicely. I stumbled upon her at a restaurant. Meant to ask her if she was the one whispering "Bayonnetta" on the title screen or some other bullshit to engage conversation but it was my girlfriend's birthday so um... yeah... I didn't.

Rez said:
you don't need to do that. during the last chapter you will get the opportunity to do that without having to actually
unlock Jeanne. You play as Jeanne during the beginning of the Epilogue.

Thanks! I might as well finish off the chapters also that way I can build upto 100 chapters played and make Rodin my bitch.

Get them and quit out to the Chapter Menu. The game will autosave

And she was! Unless you already knew this and it was part of a deliberate strategy.

Actually I didn't so thanks for the info. Anyway she was with a guy and me with my girlfriend so whatever deliberate strategy (strike that : "elaborate phantasy" would be more truthful) I had in mind was pretty much doomed from the start. So sadly no discussion about her favorite setup and accessories for infinite climax occured outside my head but my field of vision allowed for some nice perusing of her back parts and all was not lost.

Too bad, should have Time Witched the situation!

Btw she's hot. You can see her tits in the movie "Ah! Si j'étais riche"...

What have I just posted?

And on a nearly related note, she directed a small porn movie.
No, she didn't star in it, but that adds to her coolness.

Yup, but I heard this whole series (short porn movies made by women not in the business) is pretty crappy. She modeled for a recent playboy as well I think. Anyway she looks drop dead gorgeous in reality, especially for a 40 year old.

On topic : game is truly awesome, I haven't enjoyed an action game as much since God Hand which I still replay regularly to this day (although I suck at both).

I'm not getting the hang of the dodge offset at all though. Any pointers to train ? Do you have to release the dodge button and the P or K button you held at the same time before resuming the combo ?

when i see reviews slamming the music..... makes me think that half of the reviewers just listened to O.A.R. on their Ipods after the first level thinking all they were going to hear was super happy fun time.

boss music defined: fantasy zone!
People only point out the pop music, they forget the kickass sega classic remixes and the bombastic classical stuff. I'm listening to the OST and there are a ton of epic tracks. Its a very eclectic soundtrack. LOVE IT
