I haven't watched this episode but I will give them credit for making Mozgus as creepy and weird as the have.

Mozgus is the best villain in the series.
After Griffith of course. Although I would say that Mozgus and his men are much more sinister. Especially as the arc progresses.

No doubt one of the better episodes. Hooray for Silat and Luca! I also loved Puck's "thief-catching" scene; we have the comedic stylings of Puck and Isidro to look forward to.

Also, they should have just called next's week episode "The Party Cave", because that's what folks are going to be talking about most lol.

Am I the only one that felt sorry for Nina? I always see people shitting on her.

I can sympathize with weak or cowardly characters with no redeeming qualities, sure.

Her brand of cowardice however
involves constantly jeopardizing the lives of others in some instances while actively threatening their lives in others. Luca is a god damn saint for looking after her despite knowing this better than anyone.

Although interesting as a narrative springboard the only thing separating her from other
villainous characters (in my opinion) is how powerless she is to act on her selfish whims so it usually just manifests itself as her running away. I think it's fair to say that if she could kill innocent people without getting caught whenever she freaks out her body would be pretty significant.

I feel odd hiding speculation but not having watched the episode yet I'm not sure how much insight the viewer would have to her character just yet.

I always thought of her as a kid not much older than Isidro (no idea if that's actually true or not) so I gave her a bit of slack lol

I understand the complaints about the animation, but I am just so happy to have Berserk back in animated form that I do not care at this point.

Wonderful episode.

God, Chestnut Puck doesn't translate to CG well.

Nothing in this show really does, but Chestnut Puck really stands out in a bad way in his scenes.

Also is this going to be 12 or 24 episodes? Seems odd to have Schierke at the beginning if she's never going to actually be introduced in the show proper if it's 12 episodes.

I was watching the Battle for Doldrey movie earlier and they had her in the opening credits of all things.

They couldn't even save themselves. They tried in a futile fashion and Guts and Casca were only saved by a mystical force on the same level as the apostles. They couldn't even save themselves from Wyald. Guts fucked his shit up good, but he still wasn't dead. Both encounters were ended by an equal mystical force. That's why I liked the manga version. Pretty much showed everybody that crossbows and knives and other shit was not going to cut it anymore.

I'm pretty sure the Skull Knight exceeds the apostles by far. He cuts them down like scrubbs aside from a few exceptions like Zodd.

Well even Judeau killed some sort of thing during the Eclipse. Whether it was an apostle or not I have no clue. I guess they work in tiers. Wyald was an apostle just like Zodd, Zodd's way higher on the food chain though. Same can be said for the ones that roll with Griffith. So I guess Skully is in the same league as the higher tier apostles.

And it's not like the Band of the Hawk are chumps.
Even if they seem that way standing next to Guts.

I would say he is barely/slighty stronger than Zodd. I believe the Skull Knight would beat all the other Apostles, without question.

BGM is probably meant for bats or so.

And just picking up the sword made a cooking pan noise.

At least it introduced some characters.

Zodd and Skull Knight seem to be equals though. Either that or he holds back during their fights since he never managed to beat Zodd.

Yeah, but did he ever try using the
Sword of Actuation against the God Hand? If he's on the same level as Zodd, then he has no chance against the Godhand
.

Edit: We shouldn't be talking about this stuff in Anime OT, per OT rules.

He did
atop Ganishka after he transformed into giant tentacle tree form. Griffith rode Zodd to the very top and turned into Femto when the Skull Knight appeared and tried to use the Sword of Actuation against him. It was useless and Femto actually grabbed ahold of the rift caused by hiss word strike and directed it instead at Ganishka which was the final blow to end him.

I think SK knows the God Hand can't be fucked with. He couldn't even beat a non combatant class like Void.

I always figured him and Femto are the most powerful ones, with Slan being above Conrad and Ubik.

It'll be interesting to see if we ever get to see what they are capable of. Not going to lie but the mystique of their powers being alluded to or beyond understanding is really cool.

Conrad and Ubik really don't seem like fighters, they just seem like the types that'll mind rape you to the point where you just kill yourself.

Locusts and frogs raining?

Although Void and Slan's powers were more overtly shown they all have abstract and long term powers that shape causality in their own specific ways.

Conrad in particular anthropomorphizes the plague in magical rats he is able to control.

So a pack of rats vs Dragon Slayer then...my money is on Dragon Slayer. Wait a minute...when was that stated in the manga?

It's not just a pack of rats.

It's the plague. The same kind of plague that killed millions.

You can't get rid of the plague by hitting it with a sword.

Also the god hand's powers aren't ever explicitly stated as far as I know. They usually manifest themselves visually.

Like this.

....I think Im gonna stop watching this show and just stick with the manga. Everything about it other than the fact that its based on Berserk is terrible.

Oh now I see what you mean. I haven't seen it visualized for a bit. So pretty much by paying very close attention to their intros during the Eclipse a person can kind of piece together their powers?
