Your actually right. Haven't done my annual read this year so was a bit vague on details but your right. Silat is easily one of the most underrated character. One of the gew villains that doesn't resort to sexual violence the way most attempt.

He is also one of the few humans who can take on an apostle in a straight up fight and isn't even using magical weapons. Though I'm hoping with Rickert at the Bakiraka's compound that he can start giving Silat some crazy steampunk style weapons.
 
Guys, you're taking about events and characters that haven't been featured in the anime yet and might be considered spoilers for folks watching this. There's an OT for Berserk where you can discuss the manga freely without accidentally spoiling new folks.

Arslan is going to be 8 episodes and Berserk 24... So, yes, they're at different ends of the spectrum. Actually, they could have the exact same budget and it would just go further for Arslan.

I had no idea about episode counts. Arslan had more than 8 last season. I thought they would both have 13 or so.

One of my hope is Silat ( manga spoilers)
becomes one the key allies for guts. As it stands we only really got serpico with schierke being on berserk over watch with guts. Silat and Irvine are the two characters who I can see having some of the best moments of miura wished to

Just saw the above post and will kill the discussion here. My mistake for forgetting that this isn't the place.

Arslan is having a short season because it was very successful for the Nichigo timeslot it runs on, but Iron-Blooded Orphans returning in the fall means there isn't much available time in the slot. So it and a 4 episode special of Seven Deadly Sins, another popular show, are getting squeezed in between My Hero Academia and IBO S2.

I was wondering why Nanatsu was getting four episodes. Didn't notice they were both running on TBS in the same time slot.

Saw it in pseudo 3D cause of the anime art style and realized that I will watch and have watched anything and everything having to do with Berserk!

I get it. I remember giving up on the manga the first time I tried it because of him. He does mellow out a lot later on, thankfully.
 
I watched the first episode and it was... quite bad. I wasn't hating it until the forest, but damn that CG is just too much for me to deal with.

So I bit the bullet and went and picked up the first 3 volumes of the Manga... then proceeded to read all 3 in a day! Damn, you guys weren't kidding, it's sensational. I wasn't expecting the art to be so good. I don't think I can stop now...

The best part is that is when Miura's art was at its roughest. It just gets better and better

Likely. A lot of people also tend to be unaware that he also straight up took a break to work on another short manga for a bit making it seem like he did nothing during that time.

Well the last break seems to be semi related to his switch over to digital, hopefully the change in format lets him move at a quicker pace or maybe at least keep up a monthly release schedule

What the hell, its even worse than the damn movies....

Been waiting for so long~ and this is what we get...

to be fair the cg in the movies got a lot better in the last ones, this being tv, a more limited budget, its unavoidable that we get crap like this, its a darn shame we arent getting a berserk anime with traditional animation
 
Decided to finally reread the manga. They butchered the bar scene so much. This episode somehow became even worse now.

They cut the cool sword reveal, threw in Isidro for no reason. smh
 
So I watched the first episode. My god this was much worse than I anticipated. Holy shit how can it be this ugly? I mean, this is Berserk, one of the most well known mangas, right? About everyone I know who don't even watch or read manga have heard about Berserk. Why does something so big as Berserk get this treatment?

I don't know about Berserk's popularity in Japan, but considering the number of people over there saying they were inspired by it, I have to imagine it's still a good bit popular.
 
Can anyone actually tell me who the hell is this new Berserk show made for?

Right now it seems like Berserk is attempting to make a re-emergence. It's not an obscure series in the West, but its not on the same level as SAO or Attack on Titan despite having been around for a while. It's not just the Berserk anime, there's a new volume releasing and a Musou game as well.

So you have this anime and you are new to the series. It is an anime that is doing its hardest to speed through everything for the sole purpose of adapting the Millennium Falcon Arc as fast as possible, making it not the best choice for newcomers. Imagine if Hunter x Hunter 2011 decided to cram everything prior to the Chimera Ants Arc into 10 episodes just so they could get there faster. Every element of the 1st episode was trying to push together all the events that make the arc happen regardless of how they happen in the manga. Puck doesn't know Guts when he meets Isidro. Schierke, Farnese and Serpico are introduced briefly so that we already know they are important when they show up later. Guts' situation is relegated to a flashback which might as well say "Watch the movies!"

Then you have the fans who already like the series. After tepid reactions to the movie trilogy, a main complaint being the CGI and the skipping of story beats the decision was made to do that but even worse. What draw is there for Berserk fans other then a self-flagellating take on watching the show just because it has the Berserk name on it?

What is this show? Why was it made? Who thought this was a good idea?
 
The Berserk anime being terrible is like Metal Gear Solid V being terrible, for me.

Why are you taking things I, and many others, love and shitting on it?

I'd rather have nothing.
