Latest theory from /a/ so crazy it might be true...

Nooooopeeee.

A question for you Berserk fans, is there in any other medium (except for Game of Thrones) something as dark as the
Eclipse
?

Nothing shocked me as much as it. I had zero clue that something bad was going to happen (i watched the anime and completely forgot the first episode). I was 15 , still youngish, and It left a huge impact on me .

I lend it to my best friend just so he could go trough the same thing

Do InStockTrades email you to tell you they've shipped your stuff?

It's been just over a week since I ordered my volumes and I don't think they've even shipped them to me yet. The wait is starting to kill me. I know it's going to take a little longer than usual since I'm in Australia, but I thought they would have atleast shipped them to me by now. Meh, I might just go ahead and order the next set of volumes within the next few days if it's going to take this long to get my stuff.

You should learn to be patient in all matters Berserk. Very patient.

You can check your order history for shipping status.

Had to substitute volume 1 with volume 9 as it was on backorder. Probably works out better that way as I've heard the latter is usually out of stock from most places.

For those interested in Berserk, you really need to check out Shin Angyo Onshi. It's more or less the South-Korean counterpart. Fantastic art and the villain is a mix between Griffith and Bleach's Aizen. Oh, and it's finished.

I hate him already.

I concur ! even if it is lighter than Berserk (thankfully).
The protagonist is very enjoyable as he relies more on his brain than his physical prowess, and the character design in general is very good (minus Sando). The story while not incredible has a few twists, does not overstay its welcome and has a proper ending.

Like FCMaxi said, you can check under Your Account -> Order History -> Order ID #

o_filled.gif
- Shipped
o_half.gif
- Picked and Scanned
o_empty.gif
- Not Picked and Scanned

In the U.S., if it has been shipped there's also a tracking ID number. I'm not sure how that works for international shipments, though.

I've heard that Blade of The Immortal is also somewhat similar?

It starts off supernatural but becomes more grounded near the end.

The author had several gory/torture based work so the rape and torture scenes in BoTI is much more graphic than Berserk.

I also like the fight scenes more.

and yes, it's good.

I really like the first half of it then the story took a dive IMO, but the battles are very good and very well drawn.
Never saw the anime version of it, so I don't know how well adapted the Manga was.
Horribly. Leagues worse than the Berserk movies (to get slightly more on topic ;))

Is it good though?

Second best manga I've ever read after Berserk. Shin Angyo Onshi does feel somewhat similar to Berserk, though more light-hearted at times and a few rungs under it quality-wise, IMO. Still worth a read. The Main protagonist is awesome.

Ah, thanks guys. I had no idea you could check it that way. I just had a look and all of my volumes shipped a few days ago! Awesome! Kind of odd they didn't email me to let me know. Also, I can't have the package tracked since I picked the cheapest shipping option, but I'm just glad more Berserk is on the way! ^_^

Oh...and am I blind or do they not tell you when something is out of stock/back-ordered? I got volume 1 from eBay, so that's no problem, but volume 9 is the next one I need - so I'm glad I found out it's out of stock now before I ordered it in the next batch. I had a look on eBay before and I was surprised to see a few volume 9's for a pretty decent price (it's only about $6 Australian Dollars more than InStockTrades has it for since the postage is free on eBay).

On the topic of recommendations, I've got Vagabond (3 volumes in 1) coming in the mail with my Berserk manga after hearing good things.

I'd love to hear what some of you guys think about Vagabond. As someone completely new to the world of manga - have I chosen wisely?!

You made a lovely lovely choice.

Only Avatar comes to mind in terms of equal awfulness.
That sounds very harsh to Avatar.

Vagabond looks really neat, but will it ever finish?

Inoue seems to have picked up the pace in the last few weeks.

I'm talking about M Night's Avatar. That's most certainly down there.

That makes more sense :)

I dont know if its a fair comparison because i never saw the show. But the film is truly horrendous.

I remember being so excited when they announced Blade Immortal was going to be animated. Such a big chance to have a massive hit on their hands and they deliver that big blob of shit.

If you do a search for "Berserk" and you don't see a volume listed, try e-mailing them to ask if the item is in stock. Sometimes they have it back, but the website hasn't been updated for whatever reason.

I've finally been continuing to read it after reading the first VIZBIG volume last year - I'm on Volume 7 (VIZBIG) now - and it's beautiful and fantastic.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

Mate, I came up with a lot more crazy theories, but this one actually has some merit. The last few chapters were nothing but art pieces, no exposition or advancement of story. It either seems that Miura totally lost his way or that he just can't figure out where to go next.

Eh.

That one wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd be willing to recommend it.

I'm interested in Vagabond but it's yet another manga I want to read that's been going on forever and isn't finished :(

Anyone know if Blade of the Immortal is any good? It's another one I I'm interested in and it's actually finished.

I've only read the first 15 or so volumes, and I thought it was great. Someone earlier mentioned that the back half wasn't as good, but I haven't read it so I can't tell you if I agree.

But it has some excellently choreographed fight scenes. The only thing I don't really like is that it started back when flipping was the norm - but instead of flipping panels, they just rearranged them so they would read left-to-right. It's a bit irritating.

They sent me an email with tracking information, and about five days later my books arrived. Of course, being in a different country your delivery time may be different.

Those folks at instock trades really know how to pack a box well. My books were so snug and secure during transit.

Been slowly working my way through the manga. Just finished volume 10, damnnnnn that was awesome. I feel pretty bad for
Griffith though, that torture seemed pretty hellish

Agree, I enjoyed it a ton.

I'm on book 19 right now, been enjoying this whole Farnese and Father Mozgus arc a lot. I enjoyed the origin story a lot, but I do think it gets better after the part where the anime left off.

Wolfsmund is kind of interesting and takes place in a similar medieval setting.
But also so super dark that at times it feels more like torture porn. Seriously, no happy endings in sight.

To those who were asking about Vagabond and Blade of the Immortal before.. you should read them! They're both really good series with awesome art.
