you can't go wrong with nongshim stuff in general.
edit: these are also quite good once you get used to them.

Cup ramen = shrimp
non-cup ramen = beef and chili

Truly the food of the gods.

edit: oh, the company is Maruchan. Truly the greatest.

I wish so many of the instant noodles weren't so reliant on spiciness. I really like Neoguri's dry udon noodles but even w/o the flavor packet the noodles are dusted with something that makes them hotter than most other noodles.

Even with that in mind, Neoguri is dope.

The absolute king is the rare but incredible special edition Nakamoto cup noodle.

Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto (3cups) Spicy Ramen! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KETZZHA/?tag=neogaf0e-20

$7 per cup. Import only. Worth every penny.

You can buy them at 711 in Tokyo. I've smuggled about five dozen back to America over the years. Recipe is based on the Supernal real restaurant.

Trust me.

It's good just cooked in water, but the best way to make it is to fry it in a really hot pan afterwards like real mi goreng. I use toasted sesame oil and top it with an egg.

They also have lots of other flavors. The rendang flavor is super tasty.

I get the satay flavor and cook it with peanut butter and vegetables. It's the best brand that can be bought in bulk making it cost cents per serve.

Man I used to love this stuff but the sodium kills me.

As for random snacks, I usually like getting some form of gummy candy while I'm in Japantown in SF.

how did he get the water in there before opening it?

I dunno about you, but when I do cup noodles I never rip the entire top off before the water cooks the noodles. Rip top about 1/2 way, Pour water in, gently reseal top, then leave sit in microwave until done.

You can tell that's what happened in the gif too due to the curl on the end of the top when he pulls it completely off vs the rest of the paper being straight.

You can cut down on a lot of the sodium intake by throwing away the soup instead of the drinking it when you've finished eating the noodles.

If you don't mind going through some effort to find this and don't mind an instant noodle that isn't soupy this is amazing

I recommend the Hell Spicy flavor (地獄辣味) if you need something with a kick. 5 servings is like 5-7 dollars so it's about 1-1.50 per?

What's the brand's name for us unwashed english speaking savages? ;)

Thanks. See lots of stuff get on that site. I hope you get a percentage.

I don't have any affiliation with them, lol. I just ran into their brand of noodles a few weeks ago while shopping at the local asian supermarket and was amazed by it.

I can't read Chinese so I had to look it up best I could and that's how I found out they had an English website. Folks might be able to find it at a local asian supermarket.

Instant Ramen is horse shit.

Get the real thing bruh.

I also want to talk about how much I fucking hate PHO. Get that shit out of here. It's not that Pho is bad. I just can't fucking stand that there are like 20 pho places to 1 ramen place here. It's bullshit. It is 1/10th as nuanced as ramen.

way to not contribute at all to the topic at hand in order to shitpost. No shit the real thing is better, did you think that was some hidden knowledge you knew? I dont always feel like driving up to seattle for some semblance of the real thing, not to mention instant ramen and real ramen might as well be 2 totally different things.

If Miyazaki knew who you were, he'd tell the world that you were a mistake.

1. Of course "fresh" ramen is better. But it's vanishingly rare in the US. I'm lucky, Seattle and LA and SF and NY, are hubs.
2. Don't talk shit about Pho. It may be Ramen's challenged banal cousin, but it's family, dammit.

And again, the Nakamoto Cup Ramen available at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KETZZHA/?tag=neogaf0e-20, but crushingly expensive (at first glance) is the best Ramen in this thread. Including the noodle quality. It's not for babies. I hope a GAF-er orders it, and comes back to this thread to admit I was correct.

The worlds most overrated instant ramen.

Oddly, I agree with you, but because of Chik Fil A. Both are fantastic, but not world-changingly impeccable like Nakamoto Ramen (Amazon) and any other fresh fried chicken sandwich with a pickle on it. They're great, but not as great as their legend.

Nakamoto is. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KETZZHA/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I bought a big box of it off Amazon based on GAF's recommendation. Pro tip: GAF has crap taste in ramen.

no. You went too far. Shin Black is objectively GOOD taste in Ramen. Just not the best. See Chik Fil A.

are these brands available in the US outside of asian grocery stores?
Check your local grocery store, almost all the ones I've been to in Houston have an Asian or International section with snacks, instant noodles and various sauces and condiments.

Instant noodles preference is subjective as hell, same with recommending any kind of food and drinks. The problem with SR Black imo is that while I think it is damn good, it is 2x or 3x the price of other ones and I don't think it's 2x as good.

Actually I should probably walk back my claim about Nakamoto Ramen. Because GAF is probably too much of a baby to handle it. They will probably cry because it even looks too spicy. So I withdraw my nomination. You're probably too weak to handle it.

Protip. Do NOT get the red sesame oil on your lips or any mucus membrane. Inside of mouth only.

Well this was an interesting topic to see when I just logged on. I have water waiting to boil right now on my stove to cook the below. Can't beat that $.15/ea deal.

I have to look into some of these posted in here but I'm so used to this cheap shit now...
