best ramen or cup ramen to try?

Well this was an interesting topic to see when I just logged on. I have water waiting to boil right now on my stove to cook the below. Can't beat that $.15/ea deal.

I have to look into some of these posted in here but I'm so used to this cheap shit now...

i'm sooo used to it that i've tried others and havent liked them(hell the money issue hits me with ramen when i think, hey its about a quarter for this ramen, why doesnt the $2 ramen taste that much better or better in general than the $0.15 ramen) , then again i like my ramen almost dry as heck, (i cook it the way it says to but remove almost all of the water from it at the end and mix the powder with it and eat it that way... the sodium will kill me)

I do the same thing. Cook it in a lot of water than pour most of it out. But I think I'm weird in that I eat the noodles with a fork which leaves just about all the broth left in the bowl which I throw away. Cuz like you said... too much sodium.

Basically this, except mostly the bagged version because I need to add eggs. Best ramen I've ever had(there aren't any Japanese restaurants near me).

I just crack an egg over top, then pour the hot water over gently.

I don't think it's worth losing sleep over sodium, especially if you make sure you have enough potassium in your diet. I'm not saying start snorting salt shakers, but it might not warrant such a high place on your food-fear list. I feel way worse about the carbs in delicious ramen than I do the salt; and I don't even feel all that bad about them if my macros for the day are decent.

I used to eat my Ramen like this, which is how I would cook super noodles in the UK. The problem was, the ramen would always leave a gross aftertaste in my mouth for HOURS. Well one day I cooked the ramen and left it soupy, eat it all, drank the broth and didn't get any aftertaste. I can't eat it 'dry' any more after discovering this, even though I prefer it like that.

edit: now that I think about it, I would cook them, drain them almost partially, then add the flavour packet to the damp noodles, so it tasted better but I was taking that huge dose of sodium and MSG directly.

I also want to talk about how much I fucking hate PHO. Get that shit out of here. It's not that Pho is bad. I just can't fucking stand that there are like 20 pho places to 1 ramen place here. It's bullshit. It is 1/10th as nuanced as ramen.

Don't you be talking shit about pho. I WISH there was a good pho place around my parts.

This is my favorite too. The noodle has a premium texture to it unlike other instant noodle (its like $7 for a pack of 4, where I could by 3 packs of 5 for the same price from other brands).

It is very spicy, so newcomer beware. There is also a cheese version (still spicy). You could use 3/4 or 1/2 of the sauce or just use it all + a bit of water if you can't handle the heat.

Sauce will glue to your bowl after finish though, that is my only nitpick. (cup version is hard to find in my country)

Actually I should probably walk back my claim about Nakamoto Ramen. Because GAF is probably too much of a baby to handle it. They will probably cry because it even looks too spicy. So I withdraw my nomination. You're probably too weak to handle it.

Protip. Do NOT get the red sesame oil on your lips or any mucus membrane. Inside of mouth only.
How spicy compared to buldak bokkeum myun?

It's cheap but I really like the spicy chile flavored Maruchan Ramen (comes in the green lined pack), very tasty.

Want something spicy? I mean, REALLY spicy? Try this:

It's very spicy, but it doesn't completely block the really good chicken flavor.

Available in the U.S.? Where can one get this?

Adding pork chops to your noodles is the best poor man ramen experience I've ever had.

Also, I can't stand instant shrimp noodles. Those small bastards taste like anything but shrimps.

Shin Ramyun Black is the clear winner but I can't find it anymore, so I have to go with normal Shin Ramyun. Which is still amazing. I add sliced fresh jalapenos, dried chili flakes, a squirt of sriracha, some boiled cabbage and some beef Pot au feu style.

Sapporo Ichiban Chow Mein is also incredibly tasty

It is indeed available in the US. If you have a Korean grocery store nearby, it will most likely be there. If not, you're probably going to have to buy it off Amazon.

I think I remember seeing it now at an asian market store here quite awhile back, will have to check again, looooove spicy ramen.

It's this available on amazon? Is it spicy? I love spicy ramen.

Edit: Did I make some good choices? Haven't had ramen in years and this thread brought the craving back.

It's spicy but not too spicy. I think the non-Black version is too overpowering with its spice.

I can handle spicy food well, it's just that the other version has enough spice to ruin some of the flavor.

reading this thread and I'm sweating, woo

also I got some of the non black spicy chicken nongshim, and I could only use half the packet. Its just too much to be worth it. But you doctor it up with some spring onion and egg and veggies and it's the shit.

Don't eat instant noodles. They use palm oil, a huge contributor to climate change and the deforestation of Tropical rainforests in Indonesia.

There has to be some instant noodles that don't use palm oil.

I know in Australia that Coles instant noodles doesn't use palm oil but the imported stuff is ???

It's good just cooked in water, but the best way to make it is to fry it in a really hot pan afterwards like real mi goreng. I use toasted sesame oil and top it with an egg.

They also have lots of other flavors. The rendang flavor is super tasty.

Without a doubt the GOAT

Never understood the interest in spicy food that is beyond flavor. I once bought one that a friend recommended and it made my nose bleed. I love spicy food but for me I need to have a balance of favor and spice.

The absolute best. Greatest instant noodles out there, and cheap as hell.

Nonghim at the asian grocery store smells weird compared to the regular supermarket version for some reason.

The spices in asian grocery stores seeps into every other food they have. We have two and even the Mountain Dew tastes slightly like tea when you drink one from there, lol

So I hate to be "that guy" in a Ramen thread, but I can't stand spicy stuff. I love Ramen though. I've had Indo Mie (BBQ Chicken is amazing) but I want to try some other brands.

Any suggestion for a Non-Spicy brand / Flavor of Ramen Noodles?

Swung by H-Mart over the weekend and picked up a few packs of stuff. Got my staple face melty stuff, but also picked up some other things. Only tried one so far though, which was labeled 'Fiery Hot Garlic', and it was pretty nice. Lemme see if I can find them...

and also picked up...

...mainly because the uncomfortable chicken amused me and I wanted to try them. I can't find an image of the other ones I snagged.

Something to touch on, adding stuff to your ramen is totally the way to go if you can. I picked up a jar of shredded picked ginger, which I sometimes add a spoonful in to spruce things up a bit. Egg is always a winner as well. My real guilty pleasure is I'll sometimes fry up a bit of Spam all diced up and toss that in as well.

Look for sun noodle brand ramen in the fresh noodle aisle. I also like the udon over there as well

this guy knows, sun is the best

If you have an asian market near you, it very likely stocks fresh ramen

so stop buying shin ramyun meme tier and try the real stuff if you can
