BF2042 is a good game now.

I'll have to download it once again. I haven't played in over a year. I would like to try it out again though considering I paid and got nothing.

Someone should have told whoever rushed the decision to release instead of waiting and doing it right. They cost themselves a lot of money.

Nah, stay mad clown.
He's right, you're all coping. The game is shit, and will probably always be shit. No one is playing it, on ANY platform. Imagine playing this turd for 300 hours, and calling someone else the clown...lol.

It's dead, Jim.

It's not dead lol. It has players on every platform. Fact.

Nobody here is coping. People are just stating they are having fun with it.

"imagine having fun with a game for 300 hours" Is probably the dumbest thing I've read in awhile.

Always the people who don't like game and don't like others having fun with it that post the stupidest shit.

Only playing it because of game pass ultimate, but I’ve been enjoying it for a few weeks now. I think it is a pretty good game.

Its highest rank on any platform is 49th...where it's FREE. Everywhere else it doesn't even chart. Its most recent Steam reviews, meaning AFTER the fixes, still have it at 55%. So good!

Like your shit game all you want, it doesn't change reality. There's literally zero metric that backs you up in claiming it's a good game now. Not one. Players numbers are still low, and are actually dropping, and user reviews are still mostly negative. So who we believe, the thousands and thousands of people who still think it's bad or the ten of you in this thread?

I agree.

It’s still missing a lot of features that I feel that it needs to be as great as classics like BFBC2, BF3 and BF4 but it’s now a good but not great BF game. I find myself having serious fun with it unlike at launch.

The problem with the last 5 or so BF games, is that by time the game is polished and all content has come out for it, 95% of the community has moved on. So you get to play a highly polished game with a skeleton crew. There will be very minimal servers to choose from. They just crap them out too quickly and nowadays there is way too much competition. I just do not even bother with them anymore. The game needs to come out with 90% of the content and 99% polished. All that should come out after release are patches to fix minor bugs and planned content for the first year after release, coming out every few months or so. Anybody who buys it day one should be able to enjoy a fully functional shooter and not have to wait for over a year for it to get fixed. By time this game came out, BF5 was finally good. For fucks sake. Just way too late to get good. They really need to take a break with BF and do something else.

I know this is a very unpopular opinion but a week ago I subscribed to EA Play on steam and since then I can't stop playing. The shooting feel is excellent, in Conquest for 128 players there is always action going on around you, I love this mode.

And this is coming from someone who grew up on the classic games like 1942, 2, 2142.

Of course, the game lacks a lot of things from previous Battlefields, and that's sad.

- Better squad management.
- Only 4 players squad when we have 128 on server, that's ridiculous.
- Proximity voice chat would bring a lot more fun to this title.
- We should have more vechicles, light tanks, IFVs, jet bombers etc.
- And vechicle gameplay is just average at best, BF1 had it the best in the series i think.
- Design of most maps are shite not gonna lie
- Crossplay should be console to console with OPTIONAL PC.

These are problems that they could adress in patches for the game, maybe they will.

I just have hope that they not gonna fuck up the next game, the actuall next gen Battlefield.
No Timdog it really isn't

you having fun at something doesn't mean that something isn't objectively bad.

"I enjoy doing cocaine. Everybody says it's bad but I had fun so it's ok!"

Too little; too late.

And it still has shitty 'specialists' in, so no.

Now give us a game set in the Korean War, or properly go back to Vietnam, or perhaps some fictional Cold War setting up to the 90s and I'll be in. Or somehow revitalise BF1.

That's not how that works. Maybe learn how subjective and objective statements work first, then get back to me.

Lol some people in this thread.... Reads like a strong case of "someone is wrong on the internet". Why do people feel the strong need to convince someone that his opinion is wrong? OP has actually played the game recently compared to most of the people that try to convince him that he is wrong I bet. Some people should just stfu.

I think there is a curse with battlefield.when the game goes free to play, that's the time that they fix almost everything.early adopters are always beta testers.i saw this happen from bf4 and after...just started playing bf2042 through pc gamepass and it's an ok game now.Still miss the levolution , destruction and the god damn airfields...I mean for the Sheree scope it should have airfields And more tanks and vehicles

Yes I know it's a sequel to 4, but it is so in the same way the Last Jedi is a sequel to Return of the Jedi.

It's just not a natural jumping off point from the narrative of 4 but rather an artificial, contrived sequel, where the story is intentionally designed to not upset anyone politically while simultaneously also enabling the use of "hero" characters in order to chase multiplayer trends.

To me it's not a good premise when you can see a games story bending to external forces in the manner that this game does, and also, bending in a way that is only to the games detriment.
Thats why I pointed out.
If the game had an actual campaign explaining the landscape of the BF4 universe it would be a better jumping off point for the multiplayer.
We could have played through the downfall of China and not think ohh they are simply appeasing China by not having China be the other nation in the game.
How we got here explains everything that happens between BF4 and 2042, so we have the narrative.

You cant say the premise is bending to external forces cuz there is no evidence of China having been a nation in any of the concept art or anything.
How can you bend something that doesnt exist?
If you ahve any incite on whether China was originally supposed to exist in 2042 please provide.

The "Hero" characters was a bad decision through and through no defending that.
But atleast they all but rectified that, the heros are just skins not unlike skins in BFV.

Thats it for me. Levolution and total destruction physics, and the need to emphasize squad play were pillars of the series. It just doesnt feel the same anymore. Ill try 2042 again but it just seemed so generic and pointless before. hopefully there is noticeable change.

I dont understand why zoomers give this multi billion companies a 2 chance. 2042 was literal scam and is garbage and will be 4 ever. Its not a BF Game at all, Gunplay is terrible.

Its a cringe fastfoodfuck of a game that is a blatant failed warzone wannabe copy since they changed midwaythrough to non BR.

Fuck Swedish cuck zoomer dice, fuck EA. Kill the franchise already.

The entire bf2042 hate comes from a single error and everyone was like “goodnight battlefield!” And goes back to call of duty.

I Don't know if changing some of the foundation of a long time running series is a simple error thought. The pill was hard to swallow when the game launched.

First impressions are super important, their not unrecoverable as we have examples like No Man's Sky, FFXIV and Rainbow 6 Siege to show that it can be.

However it takes something huge or something drastic. BF2042 has done neither and I don't think EA are interested in a long term recovery over just spitting out anouther number and rolling the DICE on anouther new entry.

Its the same mindset as console wars of my plastic box is better and if you don't agree you're a dumb dumb

I have a few friends that are back to enjoying this game and I wanted it to be great but even though its on Gamepass I just can't bring myself to keep playing it.

I always find myself wanting to play something else while in this game

Player count is not great(half of BF 5 on Steam), but I have no difficulty in finding a match because it has cross-play. Even 128-player maps are packed (even without AI).

Here are the player counts of all BF games according to Steam Charts(30 days average);

BF 5- 16000
BF1- 9000
BF 2042- 7300
BF 4- 1600
BF 3- 157
BFBC2- 82
Approximately 34000 in total. As you can see, BF not as popular as it used to be(at least on Steam).

Thats it for me. Levolution and total destruction physics, and the need to emphasize squad play were pillars of the series. It just doesnt feel the same anymore. Ill try 2042 again but it just seemed so generic and pointless before. hopefully there is noticeable change.
Destruction physics aren't too bad. I witnessed many cool destructions not seen in the video below. And class system is OK right now.

After I picked up bf3, I realized Dice just releases unfinished games and then spends years "supporting" them. I have now taken to buying the current BF game after they announce a new one. That way I know the current game is close to a completed state. It's been much nicer of a time.

I quite liked it when I played it recently, I got EA Play so I ended up giving it a try and it's basicallly feels to me like a mix between BF3&4, but just like on steroids. I think my biggest gripe is I'm not feeling the maps a lot.

At its core I think it's fairly enjoyable, not as good or addictive as some of the older titles but I personally always preferred the more modern/futurstic Battlefield games, so this appeals to me.

Been playing since release, it's in much better shape than before. It's my go to MP shooter right now.

Nothing to cope about. I'm OK at accepting that it wasn't worth what it costed at launch and that they messed up. It's tough on the CPU so I wasn't getting the best performance with an 8600K. I'm running a 13600K now and it runs pretty good.

Classes are there now but TBH I liked how it was before. I get why they were needed, though.

It's a fun game and I get that is not everyone's cup of tea but I don't understand people refusing to play and even shitting on it because it had a bad launch.

Also, I can enjoy a game despite their player count. If it was something I cared about I wouldn't play fighting games at all, lol.

The new map runs absolutely terribly for me. Usually get around 110-120 fps and I'm lucky to get 60 reliably.

Also annoying that the new AR is only obtainable by reaching like level 40 in the battle pass.

We’re chasing those Battlefield 2 vibes and we’ll never get it again.
That was the peak. I still enjoyed playing the game into BF1 but the series got constantly neutered since BF2. Commander role, AA, etc. The games used be more nuanced and tactical. Al the things that made it unique were removed. This series used to have an identity.

I'm in the minority that it was good at launch and now sucks a fat fuck.

Oh well, onto MW3.

Give us a free weekend trail period.
New players get to try out the game, see if it's worth their cash.
Veteran players get a boost to player count and some newbs to slaughter/teach.

Everyone wins.
