Hey, hopefully your kid is better. The game will be there in stores. ;) It's painful for me as well. Still jobless and reading all the positive impressions is killing me. So glad the game is getting good reviews and people her seem to be digging it.

How many installs does this shitty SecuROM limit it? I installed it on my laptop knowing it will run shitty, so I'm planning to install it on probably 2 other PCs.

5 PC's and unlimited installs

You can sell your sperm and plasma...make the sacrifice for Rapture!

The multiplayer in this has surprised me, it's much better than I had anticipated.

There also seems to be a bug in the Single Player. The Menus automatically scroll to the top. It's kinda annoying

This is such good news to me because I was hoping for a competent multiplayer in a fresh setting. Would love a break from modern soldier-style MP.

I picked up my PS3 copy. username: Dynovac

I concur. I like how you unlock bits of the characters back stories as you rank up as well. I hear you receive new messages from the company you're testing plasmids for, as well as a few cutscenes when you reach certain ranks too.

Awesome work. =D

Alright, impressions from about 3 to 4 hours of playing. The single player is great so far, much more fun than the first game and I personally feel that the story is more interesting. All the characters that have been introduced so far seem more alive than the characters in BS 1.

The multiplayer also surprised the hell out of me. I was expecting it to be kinda cool, but mostly a throwaway mode. Digital Extremes really put together an solid package with some cool mechanics such as hacking vending machines and taking research pictures for damage bonuses. I can see myself playing quite a bit of this after I finish the story. At the very least, I am just glad it isn't another military shooter.

It feels so strange playing a game with no cover nowadays. My brain has been groomed to basically never get shot - if I take damage then I'm doing something wrong and not getting behind cover but I have to educate myself again to understand it's OK to have to use health packs a plenty as that's the way the game is crafted.

The first 2 hours I was finding the combat underwhelming as it was just pure panic fire. Now I have the researching, powered up weapons and a load more tools it's a lot more fun and I can be more clever about how I take enemies down.

Man the first time you
have to kill the big sister my heart was racing like mad, the music was superb

Really enjoying it so far
:lol :lol :lol

Sinclair's reaction was the best. I had the exact same experience with the
first Big Sister fight
and when he tells you how bad-ass you are, the whole thing seems so real.

thanks, I've already forced 8xAA 16xAF changing the software AA settings in the .ini file from "TRUE" to "FALSE" and messing with the Nvidia CP, (Dx10 mode). Feels so good to be back in Rapture, I wasn't expecting anything else from this game, enjoying the ride a lot so far.

* Sorry for asking this because I know it was asked 150 times in the ME2 thread and it was pissing me off. However, I haven't seen one second of this game yet and don't want anything spoiled.

Does it have the same AA work-around as ME2? I got that working just fine (renaming to UT3.exe), but it was retail and I got Bioshock 2 off Steam.

As previously said, we are working with the developer on a patch for this game to address many of the issues. We don't have a date for it yet, but we will work to get it out as soon as we can

I just edited the .ini file and changed the software AA settings from True to False, then forced 8xAA through the Nvidia CP. Works great.

whats the ini file to edit the graphics? they look pretty bad in multiplayer for me.

I believe the only ini file you can edit is the one for single player...

Vista 64 path (retail version, but the ini file should be named the same for the Steam version)

That sounds really cool, doesn't sound "tacked on" at all, total opposite really.

i posted a thread yesterday about neve rhaving played competitive online play but this multiplayer seems like its more thought out than i would have assumed, still no internet connection for me at home but I'd still love to at least see how it was.

They fucked up the widescreen again? Jesus christ. What's wrong with them? Also, as an ATI user, will that anti aliasing trick work for me also? Just mess with the .ini and then force it through my ati control panel?

Am i the only one having trouble customizing controls on the pc ver. I had to switch back to the stupid defaults because otherwise the hacking wouldn't work :/ considering they took out pad support to focus on pc controls this seems really badly implemented i'v been playing bioshock 1 with kb+mouse to get used to it and they have randomly changed loads of the controls :/

Wait wait wait wait, so am I reading this thread correctly? PC users are complaining that they cant use an Xbox controller and they must use a keyboard and mouse?

What is this? Backwards world?

This is what happens when the lesser (and occasionally downright awful) graphics from the current consoles drive people to the One True Platform. They have not yet been fully assimilated, but it's only a matter of time before the very touch of a controller will sear the flesh from their fingers.

Even though I wouldn't ever use a controller for this, more options are always welcome for PC games.

:lol

Believe it or not there are a lot of gamers who recently moved to the PC and still favor the controller. Normally it wouldn't be much of an issue, except the first game had controller support and it was removed in the sequel. So people kind of expected it and are let down.

And yeah, options are always good.

Yep

the EXACT same problem with mouse controls are back again ...amazing

Basically had to use the same fix I did with Bio1 which was:

- going into DefUser.ini and User.ini

- changing ALL of the mouse sensitivity values (they're "2000" here, in Bio1 it was "2500") to about 950. There all ALOT of entries with those values, so to save on the tedium, use something like Notepad++ and apply the "replace all" command.

Cheers everyone

They left out 360 pad support and fucked up the mouse sensitivity again? :lol

I don't wanna hate but it seems like that's EXACTLY what they did =/

oh and fuck you guys ...now I can't unsee Bomberman :lol

Do I really need to play Bioshock before this one? I have both sitting in my Steam list, and only one is getting installed.

Force AA with Nhancer, if you're on Nvidia?

I haven't played Bioshock 2 yet. But you definitely should.

I'm having trouble using plasmids after I use the research camera. I have plenty of EVE, but after I start the camera I put my left hand down and even after it finishes recording it won't come back up.

I have to let someone kill me so I can respawn in a vita-chamber.

PC version btw.

Got the game today but haven't had time to play it -- been busy trying assemble some furniture :/

Either way, is the game any good?

Some of us enjoy gaming on the couch in single player games as hard as that may be to believe.

I got not problems playing with the mouse and keyboard so long as the control isn't jacked like in the first game (the mouse movement/speed/acceleration were all kinds of jacked up at high DPI settings). Sure I can set up my on-the-fly switches to go down to 1000 for the mini-games, and back up to 4000 for the aiming. But it's really quite bothersome because the way it moved was just...off.

So playing Bioshock with the gamepad was comfortable, and I could do it on the TV.

I am disappointed that these games that show up on consoles, where the work is obviously done already, don't have support for MS's official controller on Windows. Why buy the controller at all?

Only played for 20 minutes before work and can't wait to get home. But I did look forward to perhaps playing on the couch some time. Using a computer nearly all day at work, and going home...sometimes I don't want to continue to sit in the same position doing similar motions to work.

As mentioned previously, the same problems with the movement are back again. Disappointing. Compared to every other shooter i play, having an acceleration curve that feels similar to Mac OSX's in a game is not fun to me (and why I don't enjoy FPS on OSX too).

For mouse acceleration/sensitivity issues, see my fix. It works.

I loved this game. Kind of wished I would have made it last longer, but there's always multiplayer. And a second playthrough. I don't understand multiplayer though, I killed 13 people in a round, the most out of anyone else and still lost.

If you're referring to the Little Sister gathering sequences,
they get better once you acquire the 'quicker gather' tonic
